Guenevere (WIP)

@jeantown i wonder then how would Arthur react? If Guen tries to kill baby Mordred? i can imagen him being pretty misarble about it, and quiet sad.

I also wonder Jean, If Guen can in anyway want a divorce after Morgana x Arthur happens, or lock herself up in a tower xD. (As she is really in love With Arthur but cant handel it.)

@jeantown If you don’t want to make it too complicated, make it a fixed event with someone other than Guen trying to kill Mordred in utero no matter what. Do you have any character who has both desire and opportunity to try it?

@WulfyK @jeantown Maybe someone who Arthur (unintentionally?) spilled the beans to about Mordred’s parentage, because why not give Morgana an extra reason to be pissed at him.

@WulfyK @Kinruush Hm, possibly… have to think that through… And yes, I do need to give Morgana reasons to be pissed at Arthur, so that Guen can encourage said pissedness or get Morgana to calm down…

I sense part III will be my fav just because lots of Morgana.

I’m trying to keep up this thread’s tradition of abusing the emoji system.

On an unrelated note, will a high-combat Guen be able to compete in Book 5’s tournament? Can she kick Arthur and Lance’s butts? Can a light magic Guen heal her preferred knight in between rounds or otherwise give him an edge? Can she give her champion a token of her favor to carry throughout the tournament? Will there be a scene where everyone in the audience does the “We Will Rock You” chant like in A Knight’s Tale?

There should be some good Morgana stuff, especially at the beginning and the very end. I’m excited about it.

YES

That’s the plan, though Arthur may not actually participate in the tournament. Part 5 is when Guen’s highest stat will become competitive with the NPC’s highest stats.

oooh, hadn’t thought of that. That’s a great idea; thank you.

You bet.

Absolutely! Oh, wait… maybe only in my mind while I’m writing it.

@jeantown
In order to complete @Mirabella’s list:

  1. Can a high dark magic Guen weaken her preferred knight’s opponent?
  2. Can a high leadership Guen earn $$$ on bets?

@GloriaRose Yikes, I just realized I didn’t see your question earlier! :frowning: I’m so sorry!

Arthur’s reaction on finding out that Guen tried to kill baby Mordred may vary according to how “hardened” he is and how he feels about Guen at the time. But yeah, he’ll probably be saddened by it no matter what.

Guen can want a divorce all she wants, but… divorce has never been mentioned by name in the story yet, basically because I can’t let the main character just take herself out of the story, and I don’t like to dangle too many options that can’t be taken, or the reader might feel like I’m just blocking them all the time. So Guen might wish to withdraw herself from the whole situation, but I don’t think I could keep writing the story if she actually did.

Almost certainly.

I don’t want to get into having a money stat, but I really like the idea of Guen being able to make bets at the tournament. (hadn’t thought of that.) Maybe she’ll be able to bet things other than money.

Betting favors, maybe? Or secrets? Of course, intentionally losing and being forced to give up “secrets” could work to one’s advantage.

I don’t want to sound pushy or anything, but how far along are you on an update? If you already said so, sorry I missed it.

@lightdrago3 FAQ is here! http://newarcana.tumblr.com/gueneverefaq

I know it’s going to be 8 years or so until we can meet Mordred, but reading all these messages here has made me way excited. Oh, dark tortured prince (and Loki-stand-in) of my imagination. I. CAN’T. WAIT!

Anyway, yeah, nthing the folks who have talked about the many, many permutations of the Arthurian mythos. At some point I should tell you guys about my own Arthurian-inspired story. It’s pretty much pre-Galfridian, so it gets rid of a lot of all the stuff that came around later (i.e. Lancelot).

@Kinruush Yeah, probably more like specific favors involving distribution of resources, but maybe I can find a way for Guen to take advantage of losing. It’s a cool idea.

@lightdrago3 Everything I could tell you is over on the FAQ and my blog. (thanks, @thesunfloweramazon!)

@suburbanbeatnik Nice to see you again! I’ll do my best to make the wait for Mordred worth it – though I’m guessing you have a Mordred of your own.

Since you’re writing this right now (or at least will be Really Soon)-what will happen if Guen loses the Big Battle at Camelot? I’m just really curious. Thanks!

@buggygirl11 Ultimately, Guen’s father will arrive with his army to bail her out, so the country won’t be taken over by Franks. But if Guen doesn’t put up a good fight in the meantime, towns and farms will be pillaged, people will be dead, the castle will be damaged, and Guen will not be thought of fondly by the people (basically the same consequences as if she doesn’t go to Camelot at all or send help).

Ooh…that sounds bad. :fearful: It almost makes me want to send all my Guens straight to Camelot. But then what about Arthur? And our hopes of peace with the Franks (or starting a civil war and bringing their country to shambles if you’re evil)? And Morgana? :weary:

Wow, seeing the consequences makes that choice MUCH more difficult…

Eh, Morganna will be fine. If you have a tactician go help Camelot, if not send Lance and help Arthur. Peace is more difficult, but maybe the trained thief will be good at her job with the info given to her.

@LanaRose :flushed: …well that just killed the drama. I’ve really already made my decisions on that for each of my (10) Guens months ago (it’s all based on their personalities), but sometimes I just like to milk the drama for all it’s worth.

You could probably tell that if you read my Guen recaps as @SwanMaiden calls them (basically those REALLY long posts where I blab on about my Guens).

Apologies for killing it :s

My brain just immediately thinks of the best solution regardless, and my main Guen (tactician) follows through with it, my naive Guen is where the drama is for me.

And I do love your Guencaps, they are always so fun to read.
