As much as I find myself looking forward to any sort of update, I’m most eager to know why the hell Arthur was so sure that doppleGuen was the real one. I also, as much as I like the guy, really want to be able to lose my cool towards him when we meet up.
- How old was Lot?
2)I’ve noted that if Guen decides to kill Hrothulf but Sir Bretta takes the blame for it, Meligaunt and Tilda still say that there are rumours that Guen executed him, and Guen has the same answer choices as when she didn’t hide that it was her decision. I think there should be an option for Guen to claim that she isn’t responsible for his death.
Iirc, it plays out a bit differently if Arthur spends the night in your room, with him climbing out your window while you can give your support, but my guess outside of that circumstance is that he believes it to be the real Guen because she has the missing pendant or something along those lines.
@Kinruush That is actually a really good idea. Brilliant detective work there. I’m subscribing to your theory now.
@Havenstone You made my day. I can’t believe The Duke himself, the epitome of masculinity, was named Marion. And he had an alliterative name, no less.
What leads to lance marrying Elaine?, I’ve read other Arthurian legends and she either fools him into thinking that she is guinevere and has to marry her because she gets pregnant or lance is pressured by Arthur into getting married
@derekmetaltron I’m surprised to hear that about the Robin Hood tourism. I’m sure some people find it silly, but there’s got to be money in it. I’ve seen pictures of what’s left of the castle, and yeah, it doesn’t look like much at this point. I’d love to see what it used to look like. Anyway, I do intend to include all of the classic characters (all the ones you listed plus Alan a Dale), and I’ve already worked out some basic personalities and backstories for my versions of them. It’s fun to think up personalities for characters who could be either male or female. Speaking of which, @Havenstone, I had no idea that was John Wayne’s real name! Wow! I was going to go with Marian/Marius, but now I think it will be Marian/Marion. “Lord Marion” sounds pretty good to me.
Your Guen should be able to have a more definitive version of that conversation with Lancelot at the end of part 2, once the source of the touching thing is discovered. They should be able to agree that they’ll try to break the “curse” so that things can just be normal between them. As for Guen getting pregnant, she will not have to take Arthur or Lancelot with her in the forest for that; all she’ll do in part 3 is set some things in motion that will result in her getting pregnant a few years later. (I do, however, think it’s likely that readers who are hoping for the Guen/Arthur/Lance ot3 will have to make that their enchanted forest party.) As for Avalon: yes, part 4 will be set in Avalon, and you’ll learn a lot more about it then.
@Druxa You’ll have that chance.
@WufyK 1) How old was Lot when he married Morgana? 31, I guess (I just have “early thirties” in my notes.) 2) Yeah, I definitely need to fix that. It’s in the part 2 edit notes now.
@Illmaster I’m going to keep that as a surprise, but there will be a couple of reasons. Elaine herself won’t trick Lancelot, and she won’t be pregnant when he marries her. People in general will be pressuring Lancelot to get married by part 3.
@jeantown If Mordred succeeds in taking over the kingdom (which I’m pretty sure he will in more than a few of my games), what exactly does he plan to do as a ruler? What’s his agenda?
I just noticed that we know all about Mordred’s views on human nature, but nothing about what the kingdom would actually be like under Mordred’s leadership.
Thanks so much for satisfying my burning curiosity!
Well, this is only my humble opinion about it. Mordred will rule like 90% of my playthroughs. He probably would be similar to The Spanish catholic king Fernando de Aragon. In Spain her wife is tons of more loved, famous and popular. The queen who have the balls to pawn her own jewelry to send Columbus to his travels, the queen who conquered the last Muslim kingdom…
But in that time in Europe every other kingdom were afraid of him, the clever fox. The greatest diplomat, he won wars before their rivals knew there was a issue. Ruthless, brave and clever. Cynical and analyst. Machiavelo dedicated some books to him. He had no piety for his enemies but established a fair and accurate justice system, poor people could go and accuse nobles and the nobles get punished. More freedom for free cities … New teachings.
In Spain of course.
We had more than 7 in their moment. The last of fall was Granada in 1492.
Ottoman empire wasn’t similar to the Muslim kingdoms here in medieval, in fact they considered themselves different, and talk about the African really bad, they fear them Because our Muslim monarchy came from Omeyan family one of the first muslim ruler families and they were replaced and ended here in his exile. In fact, many Muslim and Christian kings were close friends because ransoms, childs were give like warrant of peace in treats, so princes from two kingdoms could raise together. And treason between kingdoms were so frequent, that Muslim and Christians were allies one day enemies last Christmas and buddies against other in easter.
@buggygirl11 good question… I do reserve the right to change everything about Mordred later on; he’s still quite hypothetical at this point, and I may think about him differently in however many years when I finally get around to writing him. That said…
@poison_mara’s speculation is not far off. Since Mordred believes that people are self-serving and basically cowardly, he’ll think that a good kingdom needs more structure than Arthur has provided. Unlike Arthur, he won’t believe that people voluntarily act good for goodness’s sake alone; he believes that they need a clear system of rewards and punishments to motivate them to contribute productively to society.
While he’ll have a high opinion of himself, he won’t be some sort of egomaniac; he’s not going to set himself up to be a god or anything like that. (He will, however, very much enjoy proving to himself how clever he is.) He doesn’t want miserable subjects – he’s not going to be a cartoon despot who demands artificial adoration from a virtually enslaved populace; he truly wants people to think he’s an effective king, and he knows that an effective king is not one whose people hate him.
He’ll admire the Romans and try to make them his allies, but always with the intention of exploiting them rather than being subservient to them. (He’s not dumb enough to think he could conquer Rome, but he loves the idea of “beating” the Romans by getting them do what he wants, for the greater glory of Britain.) He’ll want to adopt some Roman practices – a strong, impersonal legal system, and a social hierarchy that emphasizes the idea that everyone has a role to play. Where Arthur wants to eradicate social hierarchy and depend on good will and positive relationships to support the common good, Mordred wants people to have faith in clear, absolute, and mostly impersonal frameworks of government.
Even so, he’ll have the same problem that Arthur does: people will have a tendency to believe in him personally more than his ideals. And for all that he thinks he’ll be able to get people to buy into a more structured system, he’ll ultimately be relying on his innate and unique magical powers (which give him particular insight into people’s hearts) to help him achieve his goals.
How demanding is Mordred’s view of a good king?
As in, I somehow doubt Mordred is going to lower the demands the crown places on its subjects (either as far as the king personally, or “the state”) in exchange for the role the king plays in this system.
Mordred seems like his ideal state would not rest lightly on people - not abusive for kicks, but definitely not the lowest possible taxes and other enforced obligations (as opposed to requests that really aren’t just polite orders), either.
My favourite Guen is to play Lesbian Guen. Guen is in love with Morgana. But she is conflicted because she wants to be dutiful to her kingdom and her father. She keeps a good relationship with Arthur and tries to have children out of duty. She likes Arthur and wishes she and Arthur just could be friends.
She can’t stand Lance but is willing to try to get along with him for Arthur’s and the kingdom’s sake.
She loves Morgana but feels guilty for having an affair with her.
Well, judging from how you descrived Morden’s government, my Guen is going to have a huge conflict considering that she loves Arthur a lot but that is exactly the kind of government she thinks would be effective
Looking forward to and dreading that decision
@jeantown I’ve been wondering this for a while, but I don’t think I’ve actually asked it yet…
So far, every scene involving a Combat Guen has her using a sword. Will it be possible for Guen to use other weapons/styles, such as archery or using a shield? I know it would probably be too difficult to code ‘proficiencies’ (a Guen who prefers a bow over a sword, for example), but I was wondering if a combat-focused Guen would get more options at some point.
(Partially because I think Guen using a bow to shoot enemies while defending Camelot would be kinda cool, not to mention the forest adventure…)
I always supposed that fighting skills includes all combat styles proficiencies instance a 0 skill Guen could possibly only pick a dagger and bear it clumsily and have no idea how to use a bow or a crossbow. A ten skill have certain practice and a max fighting Guen could charge enemies in a horse while fighting with heavy armor as a real knight and fight with a bastard sword… Just my ideas.
First, I’d like to apologize for my english, 'cause you know, being french, I don’t master perfectly english.
So, that aside, I want you to know that, like most people, I was skeptical before playing the game. But it turned out to be the most enjoyable MCG I’ve played so far !
I just admire how you’ve written your characters ! Like, if you played a faithful Guenevere, you see some cool and lovable aspects of Arthur and more boring annoying sides of Lance (kind of hard to say, knowing that he’s under a spell) ; while on the other hand, when you played a Guenevere more attracted to Lance, you found him more passionate etc… and therefore Arthur became more annoying and everything.
Oh ! And because I had some extra-time, I’ve also played with Morgana has a love interest, aaannd truth to be told, it’s quite fun to see the reaction of both Arthur and Lance, when you tell them that Guenevere is more into women
As I suppose the word “fae” is a word related with everything magical right ? 'Cause I understand with the kitten/puppy (the choice for the names really makes them like some knights or something… And I love it!) but with Lance I don’t know… Perhaps the fact that he’s “controlled” by magic ?
Anyway, if you have understood all I’ve said, well congratulation really ! I hope didn’t make some horrible mistakes and above all else just do all the stuff you want for this MCG 'cause this is just solo great !
Hope you’ll have some more fans and I’ll follow your progression from now on (well I won’t be able to buy it since I live in France and you use euro but I don’t care)

i thought you ment the ottoman empire and i was like, wait what?? xD
