I think, she had mentioned, that this depends on Guen’s relationship with Morgana and you’re Guen’s ambitions; she may side with her son, she may side with you.
Ayy, I forgot to put in my original post a statement that says there are still some differences between Me-Guen’s personality and my own.
@kitkat I personally feel sad for Lance. Anyone would do not-so-smart things in a situation like his, and I think he could’ve handled it a lot worse. Heck, I don’t think even Me-Guen would be able to handle it as well as she expects Lance to, had she been in his shoes. Both Me-Guen and I are just sad that she’s missing out on the chance to befriend Lance that we both so looked forward to. Me-Guen, being strictly logical (and apparently mildly aggressive?), conveys it by means of the sarcastic rant I wrote, while I myself would convey it by shaking Lance violently and screaming “FGS JUST LET ME BE YOUR FRIEND” to his darn cute face.
As for Arthur, he’s my adorkable lil bae and I wouldn’t have him any other way. <3 I personally do not think he’s stupid. Maybeee he was a little less cautious than he needed to be when it came to Meligaunt, but in no way is thinking the best of people a stupid trait to have. I just don’t want him to potentially get killed because of being overly trusting. I can’t afford to lose him, dammit.
I totally get what you’re saying about both Arthur and Lance. I honestly love them both and have nothing against either of them. Nothing that I care about anyway.
I’m so sorry that my post makes you feel the need to defend Lance (and Arthur?). While Me-Guen may actually be in need of your revelation, I am perfectly aware of just how darling they are.
Aaah no no you don’t have to apologize about anything! Now I feel really really sad…I’m really sorry, I had never intention to make you feel like this…
It’s just when I get attached to character(s) I always have the need to ‘defend’ them and express my feelings. I’m actually enjoy reading all those different opinions and different Guens that I would never be able to make; I’m way too soft for evil and manipulative Guens especially when include Lance and Arthur as victims
. I totally agree with you; I either disagree when people call Arthur dumb; he’s not; he’s still has the admirable innonence and faith in a better world where all people are good and leave peaceful; he just needs to mature a little; hopefully Guen will smack sense to him (in an affectionate way). The same when it comes to Lance; I live these two guys way too much; I feel the need to protect them, especially when Lance. Really you don’t have to worry; It’s just me being sad and sensitive when people don’t like my favorite characters. It’s just that the more people are being negative to my favorites, the more I want to defend them.
Then you totally hate poor missumisunderstood mara. I could understand your point of view but you have to understand that another people could think exactly the opposite about them without being wrong neither. I really think he is intelligent but totally out of reality so Dumb. I really could ending loving a hardened Arthur thought. Barbie is far beyond redemption for me I hate him hardly.
Its interesting to see everyones opinions (i dropped by before starting to play Story of Seasons. Im playing a guy i named Haruko in seedling mode just for the funsies.) I myself can see that he is intelligent, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be an idiot in some respects (or in general) either.
Hahaha not at all! I would never !
Pls forgive me…
I understand what are you saying, everyone has different favs and may hate some characters you may love; it’s just me being sonetimes defensive, I know it’s immature to think everyone should feel the same about their favs! I actually love your poison Guens and really enjoy their interactions; I’m just still too weak to make manipulative Guens; but I had to since I test Guen’s relationship with Mordred in a more personal approach and my current Guens are not so ambitious or able to betray Arthur or Lance XD
No problem all feel sometimes that way. But something I learned from rolerole-playing is enjoying other people perspective. In fact, for me I really don’t see a rpg until I watched other people play it, see it from other view is what makes this genre so special and deep. So if you don’t want play a Poison queen just heard me talk about it and imagine what I could Mara choose from her perspective and you could ending understanding her.
Hey Mara, thanks… for starters, this seems easier for a beginner like me…
In the near future I would like to post my different Guens, once I make so more poisonous queens.
No problem, but I starting feel like a some sort of Yoda, and light side is clearly not my style. XD
I have the feeling actually you’re closer to Darth Sidious guiding me slowly to the dark side of the force XD
I hope you won’t let that demotivate you in writing the paths that include Lancelot.
My unhappy Guen actually takes him with her, since she cares less about any of the other options than she cares about her success in Frankmarch.
Oh, and when Lancelot confesses to Guen in book 2, there’s a double ‘and’ in my playthrough, so it’s “I am completely in love with you, and and I have been for three years.” Just wondering if this has been mentioned before.
I really like blackrising’s idea. I think it would be a nice option to be more subtle when approaching/showing interest in Morgana. Also, I haven’t replayed in a little while, so I might be misremembering, but I don’t think there’s really an opportunity to show mortification/unhappiness with her attraction to Morgana. A Guen who wants to be a responsible, good queen would probably feel worried/upset if she were to develop feelings towards Morgana, kind of like Guen can show unhappiness with a developing attraction towards Lance. @jeantown It would be really cool to get those options, or at least be able to have them in the future. As always, love your game!
@blackrising I know right? It’s impossible not to romance Morgana
I like @blackrising’s idea too.
And building on the “it’s impossible not to romance Morgana” idea, I think there should be a possibility for Guen to start romancing Morgana immediately but have a friendship/cooperation with Morgana that grow into love/romance over time, so that Guen herself might be surprised when she realizes that she loves her best friend.
I like that. Makes the romance more realistic for some Guens.
Oh my, so many wonderful thoughts… there’s no way I can respond to everything in this discussion, but I sure loved reading it! Once again, please let me know if I miss someone’s question.
@Fallaner Your Guen sounds level-headed. (: I’ll do my best to keep putting in lines like the “no grip on reality” one, and to make the ThaliaEnding happen. Hope you’re enjoying Story of Seasons!
@anon48296871 I adjusted the timeline, and now she’ll be 45 in the last book. I know that’s old by tumblr standards, but there are a lot of vibrant, wonderful, and attractive 45-year-old women in the world!
@CrayFoPottah It’s good to see you! Glad you enjoyed the update.
(also @CaesarCzech) I have added your Guen’s delightful rant at Lancelot to my “try to make this work” file, so I’ll see if I can get some of the spirit of it in there somewhere. I do feel that after three years, Guen ought to be able to tell him everything she thinks if she wants to! (And same goes for the reunion with Arthur.) Anyway, you’ve put so much thought into your Me-Guen; it’s beautiful!
Thanks for taking the time to write about her; I absolutely loved reading it!
@blackrising (and also suggestion-seconders @hishman13 and @WulfyK) That’s a great point. When I first wrote part 1, I was trying really hard to avoid ninjamancing – I started long enough ago that many Dragon Age: Origins players were still complaining about that time they ended up in the tent with Zevran when they thought they were just being friendly. I personally didn’t have that problem, but I did unintentionally romance Jacob in Mass Effect 2 and remained unhappy about it – like, you can’t just be nice/friendly to him without it being taken as a romance.
So I wanted any romance/sex overtures to be blatantly obvious to the reader. That said, I’m sure I can find a way to let Guen be more subtle while making sure the reader has no doubt about what’s intended. And I’ve always expected that it would be possible for romances to develop later in the series, after more stuff has happened, so, @WulfyK, it very well could happen that Guen doesn’t realize until part 4 or 5 that she’s in love with Morgana.
@kitkat I love your sympathetic analysis of Lance; you understand him so well! And…
You called it.
In fact, in part 3 you’ll meet the person who broke seventeen-year-old Lancelot’s heart. (And no, it’s not Elaine, though she’ll also appear very briefly in part 3 and a lot more in part 4.) And there should be even more backstory about Lance available in later parts, some of which will give reasons for why he is the way he is. As for pushing myself, thanks. (: I try to be careful and not let myself get too exhausted; just sometimes my job is overwhelming, especially this time of year. But even if I can’t spend a lot of time working on Guenevere, thinking about it – and all my lovely readers – keeps me motivated and helps me get through the day.
@buggygirl11 Just as @kitkat says, Morgana could end up on either side (as could Guen!).
@poison_mara That’s why I love RPGs, too… some games I’ll only play one time myself, but then read or watch videos of other people’s characters just to see how different they can be. And do continue with your Darth Sidious ways; I enjoy watching you corrupt people. (:
@Promethea Nope, no demotivation. (: At the moment I’m not pouring tons of effort into Guen/Lance interactions if they stay together, but if they do, they should have a good moment or two no matter what path they take, and I can always layer in more interactions later. I definitely want the extreme Lance shippers to feel like they’re getting a little something extra if they keep him with Guen (though it really is just a little, since I don’t want people to get too angry with me for “forcing” them to either take Lance or miss out on possible interactions with him).
edit: Thanks for noticing the double “and!” I just did a pretty thorough search of the file, and I can’t find it, so I’m not sure what’s causing it, but I’ll continue to keep an eye out. I’m always grateful for typo reports. (:
I’m not sure how coherent all of that was, but there it is… bedtime for Jean now…
I had that problem with Kaidan (sp?) in ME1. I couldn’t be nice to him without him taking it as a romantic overture. With Jacob I just avoided any suspicious looking dialogue options and managed to avoid it without trouble, but I was specifically looking for romantic choices to avoid choosing them accidentally. The big problem that I run i.to with those games, though, is that the choices presented frequently do not adequately reflect how Shepard actually responds or her/his intentions with her/his response. With your dialogue choices, however, you give both what the character is saying and thinking, which keeps me from making the same sort of unintentional errors, so I don’t think you have worry about being too subtle quite like ME can be. (Honestly, I’d argue that ME and DA:O aren’t being subtle so much as just the designers are bad at getting the choices’ intent across in the blurbs next to the dialogue wheel)
I never had a problem with ninjamancing. It was always pretty darn obvious to me. I mean, come on, asking someone like ZEVRAN to go into the tent with you? What the heck did you think would happen? xD
@WulfyK and @hishman13
Good to know I’m not the only one who can’t keep her hands off Morgana. It’s awful, really. I start out thinking ‘okay, this time I’ll be faithful to puppy Arthur all the way’ or ‘yeah let’s be ruthless no feelings no friendship no love just POWER’ and then Morgana appears and…just…Morgana…your face…why isn’t it on mine yet???
And I would LOVE to have the option of Guen only realizing way later that she’s in love with Morgana. Or for her to simply be too shy or afraid to tell her for a very long time. Or to be able to make Morgana really REALLY jealous by fake-flirting with Arthur and/or Lancelot until Morgana snaps and makes the first move (which might be a bit out-of-character for her, but the thought is delicious).
…let’s face it, my dream game would be one that’s about nothing but the hundred different ways you could romance Morgana. I am a weak, weak human being. And I’ve always loved Morgana in about every take on the Arthurian legend there is, so…the thirst is real.
I know the struggle. I had only one conversation with Kaidan in the first game, and I tried to remain completely friendly in a not-coming-on-to-you way, and then suddenly he was inviting himself into my room.
I never had that problem in me1. My problem was in me3, I romance Trainor by accident. Mara is the flirty type with all her charisma, and that suddenly I found her in my shower. And I said well ok, her scene is just here? Anyway I would replay this game so why heck no. And I found Trainor is a great girl funny and that but is not a romance for Mara at all. She still in love for Tali
.Damn Ea for making Bioware skip the romance for femshep. All the flirt and Shadow broker info about she loves shep still there. In my cannon Tali declared her love to Shep after picking her from the rumble. I just found male romance options bad.
