From Ashes We Rise [FAWR / WIP] Upd. 30. Oct

Wait sooo we don’t get to vote for our favorite character? That wouldn’t really be a contest then…

But then someone could make many accounts and vote for their own character.

It was a contest just not a public vote

That already happened once, it was… very disastrous.

What? What happened!? Now I wanna know!

Long story short: Sock puppet account was made to do a double vote and three accounts were deleted as a result.

If it was down to a public vote, then this thread would’ve been little more than people pushing their characters (rather than the lovable chaos that we have now). It would become a popularity contest rather than the author choosing a character that they think would fit best in the story. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m no fan of popularity contests and I wouldn’t have bothered entering a character in that case.

It wouldn’t be based on popularity, it would be based on the character you like best. Plus isn’t the point of a public vote to pick the best character, a character the community as a whole would like, it’s nothing bout popularity but simply us expressing which character we would like to see.

There are other ways to vote than to just use the built in poll.

Like @Nekumura stated with my character, some were difficult to put into the story naturally. If we voted for a character she felt about like this it would put more work on her. Winner by Author’s opinion works better this way.

The real question is who is next for the cameo contest host? :smirk:

A character is not voted in because it is best for the story, the setting or because the author likes it. It is voted in because, with a majority vote, the community liked that character. In short, that character is the most popular among the community. Therefore, that would make it a popularity contest.

Voting has it’s merits. But in certain situations, you’re better off without it.

@Nathan_Faxon Not it!

wowowow congratz to the winners!!
hahaha i’m sorry if my character is kinda complicating
idk if you got mine or not actually

Wow… never really thought I’d win xD

Feel as if I’d accomplished something in life! Thanks everyone! :cry:

Congrats. You certainly earned it. I’m glad to make it in second myself.

Something else I noticed, most of these characters that have entered appear to be socially awkward.

Either @Nekumura has a thing for socially awkward people, or Kalathol is one jumbled up place.

Like I said its not really a popularity contest…not everyone is going to have the same opinion, but if it does turn out that one character is in the lead it might be because it is better for the story.

Suppose there was a super powerful hero/villain/anti-hero(whatever lol) and the powers were so powerful it didn’t really fit the story, no one would probably vote for that character a lot since it doesn’t really fit the story.
Us readers should already have a feel of the story, and what would fit and what would not.

Oh and Congrats @AnimoBianco !!!:tada:

congrats @AnimoBianco. I have a bias, so it is natural I believe Zolataya’s entry was the best but to each her own.

@UmbraLamia
You would not believe me how many entries I’ve got with socially awkward people… They were… the majority o.o

@evanFlutte
I did get yours ^^
Nah, he was not very difficult, actually he was on the 4th place right after @UmbraLamia.
I liked him, but it was just not enough to beat Ferrum ^^

Just curious but… what actually made you decide on these three?
