Has anyone managed to get the gold medal achievement? (Best army outcome possible).

Attack on the RIght, send skirmishers to the south, save the artillery, save the Colonel, go to the Flank, split off a batallion to rally the shattered troops and don’t get yourself captured at the Flank

There’s other, smaller steps but these are the big ones

Hwy abba, have you achiveed the careful commander acievement? (Having as little casualties as possible).

Nvm I think all I ned to do is to retreat my troops from any sort of combat.

Yeah don’t worry I finally got the achievement by myself.

Yeah. You need to not do your job in order to save as many of your men as possible whilst not getting yourself killed in the process.
Unless I’m reading the code wrong and there is, in fact, a way to both get a Stalemate and not butcher your command.

Hello, I just wanted to say that I really liked First Bull Run and I hope the Peninsular Campaign comes out soon. Though I am having some trouble getting the best army outcome at Bull Run

Thanks again for making such a great work

If talking about the one that saves the most of your regiment and others theres certain choices you half to make that get you that achievement. Off the top of my head i dont recall all of them but its a short list that another user posted upthread.

How do you save the artillery? Do you have to use the guns to take the house or is it something else?

While not directed at me you. you half to go defend the cannons you acctually get told to as part of the orders or near orders i forget lol. Yet you half to deploy your regiment to defend them then order the cannons and your regiment to attack the two blue clad regiments approaching you from the forest.

By the time I get to the cannons the rebels in blue have already snuck up on them. I attacked on the right and used the captured artillery on Dogan Ridge to destroy the snipers but I still can’t seem to get there in time

That should not happen what other choices did you make?

Hey there. I’m really glad you enjoyed the game! Here is a walkthrough to solve your problem:

There is a series of sort of false choices, which I included so it wasn’t obvious that the blue regiments are rebels. After all, why would the character all of a sudden doubt them unless it was part of the plot? Here is a segment of the text with the right choices in bold:

Something catches your eye to the east, and you spur your horse a few steps onto a higher bit of ground. Looking out across the hilltop, you see the main Union battery loading and firing. On its left, you see a blue coated Union regiment approaching them. Or maybe it is two regiments.

—“Captain Bowles, what regiment is that?”
“Captain Bowles, we need to find Colonel Willcox.”

“Yes, perhaps. Let us find Colonel Willcox.”
“I do not think so. I don’t recognize them.”

“Well, they must be our own troops. Never mind.”
“I think they are rebels. We shouldn’t have any troops in that area. We must move forward to support the guns at once!”

If you select any of the choices about finding Willcox, then you are distracted long enough to miss out on saving the guns.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you need any more assistance!

Your servant,
Dan Rasmussen
