Whoever you pursue a romantic interest with, and no matter what your relationship with your magi is like, a familiar’s first priority is inevitably their own magi. Not just by duty, but by instinct and magical compulsion. Two familiars in a relationship would have this understanding without having to discuss it. A familiar having a romantic interest in humans (and vice versa) is considered unnatural, though the deep connection you share with your own magi makes it much more likely to happen between bonded pairs than polite society likes to admit.

Lory is such a cinnamon roll, must protect at all cost
Your writing feels soft and warm to me, I like it
(Also;
“There was a strange hesitation in the way she reached out to you, fingers barely pinching the shirt you wore before falling away. A spike of hurt anxiety made you catch the retreating hand. Why wouldn’t she look at you like she used to?”
Oh my, there seems to be some angst coming? Noice)

Thanks for checking in! ‘Okay’ is one word for it… I’ve shelved Familiar and chose to work on another wip first. (:

That fox origin is definitely something, thanks for the warning many people would be uncomfortable with it.
I also love the idea of playing as a familiar, it is pretty unique. Though the tone shifts in the story are a bit odd. It starts off lighthearted with the whole ‘bop the nose’ thing, only to get dark with the fox line.
All in all, I am definitely going to keep an eye on this game. I look forward to the next update.

I’m really glad that the warning was sufficient! My opinion on it is; “C’est la vie”. Life has cute fluffy moments, depressing moments, close shaves to truly horrible moments, actual horrible moments… it’s different for a lot of people, and often come with little warning. Asa and Lory got the short stick, so to speak.
As it’s not my style to avoid those issues even in fiction (I can’t, to be honest. The story often writes itself, and I can only watch on in sympathy), I can only hope the warnings are enough.

Makes sense, at least it wasn’t as surprising and shocking as some other books I have read. I quite enjoyed the Damselfly line as well, not many people know of them so it was nice to actually play as one.

I really enjoyed what you had so far, the different cultures you covered and the fact that you could choose to be angry at your fate as a familiar really made me happy - a lot of the time when people go into soul bonds and that sort of stuff it’s always depicted as romantic and something to be desired, nevermind that they didn’t get a choice in being bonded. I also got the feeling that the familiars had their own unique personalities even with how short the wip is at the moment.
Dundonian fox has got to be my favourite though, just because the wee foxy seems a little cheeky and I’m fond of the accent and I was real sad to read that it was fading.

Thank you! I’m glad I managed to present them three dimensionally.
I’m rather fond of it too, but if I kept it at 100%, most readers wouldn’t understand what they’re saying x0 But it won’t disappear completely, and in moments of strong emotion, the accent will come back strong too (:

‘I dannae ken’
Still have no clue what it means and I read it like 30 times. So as charming as it is, I would be lost if it continued.
