I really like the intro as it is, personally. It’s true that not all families are loving, but writing in different scenarios for the beginning may not add much to the overall game, especially if you’re going on your “quest” regardless of how you feel about your family.

I’d rather see more work put into continuing what we have already.

I mean, there is such a thing as evil characters who still have close relationships with their immediate family. Or at the very least who get along with them. It happens in real life pretty often.

I like the different meters as well. I’ve always liked seeing the numbers go up the way I want them to, though!

@Riviare game don’t have to decide if i want to be good more if there is a stat called EVIL its not there just because.

This game has passed to a free scenario to a railroad You has to be good and stole that trinquet yes its obvious that is a trap but You has to play that way and if you want be bad nope you has to be a hero period not other option.

@Marajade … you know you can murder your best friend in the demo right?

I killed him. he was a little to close for comfort in the first chapter so i shot him in the brain :stuck_out_tongue: i’m straight as an arrow, why didn’t i have the option to just hi 5 him instead?

@817819 yes and what ? im obligated to love a family my character don’t want care a sister i don’t want revenge a family i don’t want revenge and the child intro is you are a goody child who wants be a hero and safe his family period also with the years you are with your sister and remember with care your father.

Wait is my character in the last demo i could choose my own story here story is fixed and preselected roleplay has tototally go through the window.

Also to kill him i got to do the trinquet quest think im not doing because my character knows its a trap noone do it knowing it. My character want to be a Hunter so she goes with the Hunter voluntary. Also the friend quest they set only a story about what you do in talimun you are a thief deal with it even if you want to be good and no be bad you can’t be a smith apprentice or a carrier using some or skills nope thief only one choice

@MaraJade I’m really sorry to have to ask this, but could you please elaborate a bit on “game don’t have to decide if i want to be good more if there is a stat called EVIL its not there just because” because I’m not really sure what you’re saying.

Are you saying that things the game says are evil are really not evil, or maybe not evil enough?

Because as I said, you can still be evil even with the background given.

I mean, as 817819 pointed out you can kill your brother.

I also get the feeling that to have a purely evil background, there’d have to be a new one written, since just having your character randomly being rude and asshattish to your parents and siblings isn’t really evil so much as just being annoying.

Which could be interesting if the writer wants to go that route and let your character be the sort that drowns kittens and puppies as a child or poisons a sibling they don’t care for.

@Riviare in the other demo you weren’t obligated to have a family in first place there was left in shadows you could believe what you want you could stole or not you could be friendly with family or be rude kill the family or not . in the community you got options to be whatever you like similar to SKYRIM.

This one its a first person shooter like halo all your story is setting ALL. Profession family emotions only room game let you its choose your power and go for the trinquet or not if you choose not well only try to escape or not i want to joing willingly so i go.

People who only play good characters love preset scenarios force all people to love family care kittens and be a hero. I want choices freedom its ok game put me a family over shoulders but qt least let me hate him be neutral too or simply don’t tell me what my character feels.

The character would have to be another job option not only thieves for instance each power a job associated like if you are strong carry boxes; a fire elemental work in a forge even if your friend still same and same trinquet adventure.

And about my phrase meaning Game decide my character alignment you are good from start period you would be a good guy all your life even if you are a thief
you want revenge your family know about them i don’t have any control over my character except name and power at first you could be blunt or go to mission or not escape or not. things change from stats and its well written but its not my character story its the story game already decide avenge your family.
i don’t want revenge them i want a option to say i don’t care or even forget hunters i want a option to have bad family or don’t know who my parents are .

CoV let me choose my maker and kill him or not; wW let me choose country and my feelings and what i do in my childhood. Life of a wizard let me choose if i care family or not who they are even kill them or not.

this is my favorite Wip i help @wolfwriter20 many times im not a troll that’s way i want help him

Is there a demo to this? It looks awesome

nice

Wow I love the game I hope it is continuing

This game looks pretty slick. Loving the range of abilities you can choose:D Holding out for more:P

@MaraJade I find it amusing that you’re using an Elder Scrolls game as an example of non-linear story telling. The choices in those games have always boiled down to either following a completely linear plot now, or putting it off until later. The only real non-linear story telling to be found is in the player’s imagination. Which then again I guess could be your point. You don’t want a non-linear story, you want a barebones story that lets you do tons of things and describes them to you despite the fact that none of those things actually matter. Is that it?

@Shoelip

You’re not winning yourself any friends or brownie points: Not only are you acting high-and-mighty-smug, you’re doing it when you’re not even right.

You forgot the choice of deciding which “Completely linear Plot” you want to adopt as your own while discarding the alternative “Completely Linear Plot(s)”, as shown by things like whether or not you join the Stormcloaks or Imperials in Skyrim, or which House you choose in Morrowind. Notably, you *can’t* just choose whether or not you want to follow those or just put them off to later, because choosing one cuts off the others. And that’s before I get into the various little choices between “completely linear plots” you get when dealing with this or that quest (Do you keep the money, or do you do the right thing?), or how you go about progressing along that Completely Linear Plot (Magicka or Sword?).

Nobody said those were amazingly diverse, but that doesn’t mean they are completely disqualified from some level of non-linear storytelling, or that they don’t exist in Elder Scrolls games. So if you were trying to impress anybody with your claims, there are better ways to do it than publicly shooting yourself in the foot by getting your accusations wrong (no matter how justified some of those criticisms maybe!). Especially when it is to condescend a fellow forum member.

Now please; it doesn’t have to be like this. I’ve had my own issues with Mara before, but that doesn’t justify talking like this. So please act politely, because I don’t want to have things get worse.

Uggh. Maybe there’s more to this in some other thread that I’ve missed, but that last post came across as disproportionate and overly personal…

Well i haven’t problem with nobody today. Elder Scrolls are totally not linear for reasons @Shoelip pointed, i create my own story. I discovered by other randomly mission Companions are werewolfs well i kill them all due i was a vampire. i didn’t do companion quest , if game were linear i couldn’t do that, i just follow my own rp characters story , and do whatever they could do and game let you. in a village there are a serial killer i discover the real assassin but if i framed a other guy i win money that i did but i followed real one and sacrifice him to a daedra prince. All this playing Vainilla game!!
¨Freedom is there but hide of course, you could do what game blindly shows in the journal. But no what and mostly real elders scrolls fans do. in some mission you could even being trying to be kill for the guy teorically have to do mission due i asassinate his master for dark brotherhood, or find your women with other in bed due you give her a love letter of him 200 hours ago. Linear Elder scrolls??? sorry no how i played it

@P_Tigras

Personally, I’m concerned about the fact that you don’t see Shoelip’s response as being disproportionate and overly personal, especially in comparison to mine. It involved a condescending attempt at a lecture regarding the Elder Scrolls games, their limitations, and insinuations about @MaraJade herself.

I simply pointed out that what Shoelip was doing was in violation of basic civility, was factually incorrect, and that things on this forum did not have to be this way.

To give you an example: of the tone in Shoelip’s post:

"You don’t want a non-linear story, you want a barebones story that lets you do tons of things and describes them to you despite the fact that none of those things actually matter. Is that it? "

There isn’t really anything more in some other thread; the extent of it was another post on another thread in the same night, where Shoelip posted about how I had a “very specific definition of Communism.” Which for various reasons wasn’t worth getting into and was a distraction from giving feedback to the game creator themselves, so I dismissed it.

But as you can see, I was being far less personal than Shoelip was. While he condescended and snidely attacked MaraJade, I was not casting any aspirations or assumptions about his intelligence or ability to be civil, only judging and responding to his lack of civility at that point and even reminding him he as a chance like the rest of us.

So it is not personal any more than is appropriate, and if it is disproportionate that is only because I’ve learned they provide far more information to the responder than they would otherwise, and the earlier and more you fix a problem the better chance everybody has.

Well @Shoelip was little rude but like i pointed in some places im from a culture no so polite as typical english so for me he wasnt more than cynical.

By the way this is not the topic here and is a stole of this wip space so please all stop.

@MaraJade I hope that will be possible, especially for the sake of Wolfwriter and one of my favorite wips. But If I have to lease this space to deal with rule tweaking and defend our honor, I will. Especially if there is nowhere else.

That being said, I second that: shall we get back on topic with less abuse this time?
