@wolfwriter20

If I was a shifter couldn’t I train myself to i prove my physical power I hate the fact that having magic = weak physically often in fantasy. Personally if I knew that being a shifter would make people underestimate me I’d train to at least be able to fight competantly in case my shifting ever failed.

@Nocturnal_Stillness i think the same, thats the reason i see shifters like rogue asasins,not mages. You have touch your victim there are two forms basically war and love. I see my avatar like a close fight combatant in both fronts…

@wolfwriter20 I like your universe so far. I m preparing a sesion of role playing with friends i hope dont mind you use some of your marks in my pseudo fantasy victorian london

@Nocturnal_Stillness

The player character is already a relatively competent fighter (in one arc in the introduction it is possible to take on two thugs and you come out the victor). The thing is, that won’t do you much good when you are fighting against another trained Empowered. Against Normals, you could more than hold your own in a fight, but to fight Empowereds you would have to be able to shift into something stronger.

It should level well though, because I don’t want to make Shifters feel like they are super underpowered. There will be a lot of cool tricks that Shifters can do that will give them the upper hand.

@MaraJade

Yeah, a lot of them use their abilities to be rogue assassins…one of the reasons people don’t like them very much haha :stuck_out_tongue:

And go for it, as far as using the marks in a role playing session! I’m glad I wrote something that influenced you :slight_smile:

@wolfwriter20

Are there limits to what a shifter can do?

Ie if a shifter shifted into a telekinetic and they fought would it be equal or would the shifter only be able to use so much of the power?

@Nocturnal_Stillness, See that is what I am not sure about. You wouldn’t be able to shift into another Empowered until you were a higher level to begin with, but then would the power be limited or would you be an exact copy? I am leaning toward being an exact copy, because that is what is always described when talking about a Shifter, and just making it where you cannot take on more than a certain number of identities (and maybe an Empowered would take up more identities than one slot?) It is definitely something I need to consider.

@everyone

I think I will go ahead and post the link to the game. I got to my ‘stopping point’ a lot quicker than I thought I would, so I see no reason to not go ahead and put it up.

Now, I feel like there are one or two things I should say going in…there is a lot of reading. This game is heavy story based and where I stop is right before you really begin to take part in a more open/interactive world. So there going to be several pages where you are just reading a story, and not interacting through choices. Just to clarify, there are several choices throughout the demo, but, for example, I think there are seven or eight pages before you even get to the first choice.

I hope this does not deter anyone from reading/playing, but I wanted to straightforward with you about what you were getting into.

Finally, you will not really have the chance to see your powers in action this time around (you are only a fledgling wayward anyway, so you can’t really do anything impressive in the beginning.) I don’t want anyone to think that they are going to go into this and start throwing cars around…eventually yes, but in the beginning, no.

Okay think that about covers it, my friends. Enjoy.

@wolfwriter20

I think the copy should be as good as the original but can’t push the powers as hard as them so a shifter would only be able to go head to head for a short while before the original can over power them.

That makes sense, seeing as they would be having to draw on their power to maintain not only the shift but then to also wield the other persons powers…that would be incredibly draining on the Shifter, and they wouldn’t be able to keep that up for very long. That also makes it where the Shifter will still have to fall back on wit and cunning in the long run. I like it.

I love the demo so far but i like some fisical descripcion and the comunity seems something interesting to read good work

The shifter must also have an internal struggle, as having so many identities might make you forget who you really are. This could be why you need to set a limit, so as to stop yourself from losing your own identity.

Do you mean physical description of the player character? I have been wondering how to handle that if that is what you mean. It will come up (you haven’t named your character yet either) and I will add some physical description choices then as well.

@SengokuKronos Yeah, that is pretty much why there is the limit. What I have decide then is, how much can a Shifter take before they lose who they really are? Should I make it where the player should keep tabs on how many identities they have taken, so that going insane from over-absorbing is a possibility?

TechnoFantasy FTW! !_!

@wolfwriter20 It’d be cool if the more identities you have, the less in touch with the world you really are. For example, if you only use 2 you’re fine, but if you use 4 you start forgetting your name when speaking with other characters, or responding with a different personality or as if you were actually a different person.

Or maybe mix up the shifts, where the player will accidently put in details from other identities just because there are so many. Like shifting into a character but using the wrong ability or something.

@Trywm

That sounds incredibly insane to try and code.

Challenge accepted :smiley:

love the demo. As long as you add an option to blast Angie through a wall with telekinisis during an escape scene, I’m good.

Very nice so far. The scene with the doctor lady was intriguing. I really want to get into the community now. Maybe now we can learn how to properly harness our abilities.

@Syndicate I was wondering what people thought about Angie/Collin. Don’t worry, you will see her again soon.

@MaddiMastermind Intriguing in a good way, I hope? She was fun to write. She is kind of crazy, but I like her.

Its sooo asoooowme ( c…can’t r…resist m…must l…lick 8-> )
I liked Angie first (i was like yipeee a friend not alone anymore) but she poisoned me •_• ?!
Now serious. Its a very good demo.
already reads very good (can read this for hours)

What is a Vidcom? Its like the esper in blade runner or the omnitool in mass effect? And the only reason of my mara shifter goes to funeral its to pickpocket masses, she is alone and dont see her do a honest job, i like the fight and the death of mother and son

@P0RT3R

I’m glad you like it! Not sure I understand the ‘must lick’ comment though lol

And Angie sucks, to put it bluntly. Her and Collin both, the Hunter poster-child tools…anyway…shes one of those people who is always going to be causing trouble for you until the time comes where you can teach her a lesson. I have a feeling many people will be looking forward to that moment.

@MaraJade

It is probably most similar to a television, except with multiple screens that are able to interface with viewers and play what it decides is what you want to hear about.

I might add an option where you can pickpocket people at the funeral, that would be pretty funny. You are really wanting to start your reign of villainy early, aren’t you? And you fought the thugs and let the mom and son die? Tsk tsk tsk mara :stuck_out_tongue: That also means you made the building collapse though! I was wondering if anyone would find that path.
