Asset 159. Another nameless merfolk, pulled out of storage whenever the humans decide that the water’s too dangerous to face themselves. Like now. And this time, it seems like you’re going to find out what really lurks in the depths… whether you want to or not.
Hi Everyone. Following my merfolk inspiration that I’ve got happening at the moment, I had a short game (~22k-ish) in the works for Ectocomp which is an annual spooky game jam on itch. It was meant to be shorter, as I usually do the speed game version, but there was too much I wanted to write- and well, scope creep is a thing
The timeline is super short given my general lack of time and silliness not sticking to the 4 hour limit for the speedgame version. I’ve got to have it in by the end of the 31st Oct (3 days ), so totally understand if no one is interested/has time, but if anyone wants to have a go at giving it a quick read and let me know if you find any glaring bugs/typos before the deadline I’d be super grateful. I’ve got to keep it to a private beta due to the comp rules, but it will be openly released on the 1st November for anyone else interested later
Edit: Link to full game

Got a chance to play it a bit it is a good spooky short story well done I didnt notice any game breaking bugs or even typos and the like so that’s a plus as well.
Even though its meant for a competition and to be short I find myself wanting to know so much more lol
Thanks so much @Valixon! I’m glad to hear you didn’t hit any bugs. I had a few which I was hoping I’d squished out of the game but it’s always amazing to have someone else confirm that.
I might extend it out a bit at some point as a future project, can’t promise when, but we’ll see how it goes. (I’ve done that with a couple of my ectocomp games in the past.)
I hit two endings and saw what could have been a third ending two are the big ones im sure lol. Will try another and play through with different choices later on if I get a chance and if nothing else would be a cool concept to see expanded should you choose to later on.
