People dont have taste, their prefer a e-girl than a tomboy mechanic, i wonder if make a new pool what the results gonna be since some of that was grow maybe their tastes changed.

I suppose it would be interesting to see if the votes would be different now, but even if they were it wouldn’t affect the romantic options at this point since I’m done with them already.

But as I said, once the game is done, I might add some minor romances, there’ll for sure be another poll at that point if it happens.

I can understand both tho. Tomboy mechanic girl sounds as hot to me as a E-Girl.

It’s from the first time I played that I made a character for mouse for a wholesome romance. Can’t wait for him to be more fleshed out.

Not so great news progress wise(anti-progress, really).

Once again I had second thoughts after I was done testing the update, and tried to hastily make it work better. Not a great plan since my work-life has been pretty tough the last two weeks or so. So, rather than finishing it up, parts of it were unraveled and still are. (with how long it’s been since last update, I want this one to be as “perfect” as possible when I post it, which is why I delay and rework rather than publish and then rework)

To compound this, I’m going on a trip starting today(which is why I loathed to make this post, was hoping I’d get the update finally done before I left. It used to be that a trip made me work more efficiently and cut unnecessary stuff without thinking too much, but that hasn’t been the case for a while, sadly).

I’ll be back in a bit over two weeks, but I doubt I’ll be able to finish the update in February. No idea how long it’ll take, but given that I’ve been told the foreseeable future(this spring) will be more hectic than usual work-wise, it’ll take a while. I’m hoping to be done with the revisions in March. There’s not super much to re-do anymore as such, but my situation at work makes progress slow on weekdays. (more of a “spent all of my mental resources at work” kind of deal than just “not enough time”)

Sucks for my plan to be much, much more productive this year, but on the bright side it’s just the beginning of the year, and once spring is done and summer arrives, things will look much more positive. (and autumn this year will supposedly be fairly calm too, but we’ll see about that later).

Apologies to everyone waiting for the update. Whenever I look at the topic and see the “November 2024” I’m filled with a mix of anguish and motivation. Anguish because it’s been so long since an update, motivation because I want to change it for the better!

Let this be the final obstacle this year.

See you in a bit over two weeks!

Back now!

As mentioned before I left, progress will be slow for the spring(at least a month or two, possibly until summer, exact timetable hasn’t been revealed to me).

Most likely I’ll get some writing done on the weekends, and I’ll try to get the update out as soon as possible, but we’ll see how it goes. No ETA, since revising stuff is always unpredictable.

Man, it’s been 6 years since I first started reading this and nearly 4 years when I last read it. Did I miss anything?

Not as much as you’d think, I’m afraid. Progress hasn’t been too great for some years.

Look again in a year and things should be very different, though.

It’s been a while since I’ve commented here, but I just wanted to take a moment to say that I love coming back to replay this game every few months and I love how frequently you communicate on this thread about things. Thank you for the fun times and the transparency! :heart_exclamation:

Jeez, thanks!

You’re a very loyal customer if you replay it that often. I better get that new content in soon so you’ll have more to enjoy! Still a bit left of the revisioning, but should be done by the end of the month if the pace keeps up.

Not quite ready yet, so won’t be ready this month.. I’m glad I revised it, though, it’s much better now. Can’t wait for people to see what I’ve cooked up.

Looking forward to it!

Still not ready, been busy for the last few weekends and isn’t looking too good for nearly a month. It may be that I’ll post it at the start of June, when my free time actually starts. It’s been a long time, that’s for sure, so hopefully a little more will be tolerable to everyone waiting. :face_with_steam_from_nose:

Hi! I had a quick question about how route choices affect romance progression.

Whether you side with Mari Badr or the city, her behavior toward the MC changes—especially in situations like sleeping together. When working under her, she doesn’t seem interested in continuing that dynamic, whereas when you’re more aligned against her, there feels like a different tension.

I was wondering: will this choice have a significant impact on whether you can actually romance them or not? Or are these differences more about tone and relationship dynamics rather than locking or limiting the romance itself? I know if you choose to work with the company more seems are there with them but I don’t know how often I would choose it if it locks me out

Really enjoying the game so far!! Thanks for all the work you’ve put into it!

The romance itself will be available regardless of the specific path chosen, but it may be dependent on specific dialogue choices you’ve made when she’s been around(let’s call them “flirting” options for simplicity).

The same will be true for the other characters. Your interactions with them are more relevant than any specific path you’ve chosen. (although the paths do affect where and how you meet the characters. One specific choice(or set of choices) lets you meet Mari during the press conference where she’ll give you a car ride. You’ll have that only if you’ve chosen the specific thing earlier. But that doesn’t affect the romance itself, it’ll just give you an opportunity to choose more “flirting” options during dialogue. And that scene isn’t romantic in nature, so anyone can get it, not just someone who wants to romance her).

Ultimately it depends on what you mean by “actually romance them or not”. Will there be significantly more romantic content for a specific path? Unlikely. Will some path make the romance seem more “real” with her, than another(including unique ending stuff)? Perhaps.

In any case, the city hall/corporate divide will not affect your option of engaging in a romance with her. It will certainly recontextualize things, etc. Mostly it’ll create some differences in descriptions based on it, and dialogue, etc. And, of course, it’ll affect the various sub-endings in the game(essentially what happens “after” the game, etc).

As for how large the differences end up being, that’ll depend on whether I can write them in a way that’s efficient, as well as practically doable for me. I’m not a romance enjoyer, so writing romance stuff isn’t the easiest thing for me. And the time I spent “pre-writing” much of the game didn’t really extend to the romance. :stuck_out_tongue:

As for Mari’s own opinion on the matter, just because she says something doesn’t mean it has to be true, or remain true. Perhaps she’ll change her mind later, perhaps not, or perhaps she’s denying her feelings(or just toying with you). That kind of thing may also be affected by your interactions with her. (and, admittedly, that may be affected by the chosen paths. So, in a way they might affect romances, but won’t block them completely. More like “if you’ve chosen the city hall path, that means the Mari Badr romance ending can only be variations 1a, 1b, and 2b. If it’s the corporate path, it can be 1a, 2a, 3a, or 3b.” That kind of thing. So, it won’t block ‘important content’ for the romance. However, it will change the feeling it’ll have, which may make you think that one romance ending variation isn’t as “complete” as another. I’ll certainly get feedback on that stuff to make sure nothing ends up being truly disappointing.).

In any case, until it’s actually written and playable, anything I say is subject to change, even if I’ve planned something already. I have the tendency to change my plans all the time, unfortunately. :stuck_out_tongue:

-

tl;dr: It’ll mostly affect tone and dynamics, rather than limiting anything.

-

Hope my answer wasn’t too confusing. Sometimes I ramble on in a way that makes perfect sense for me but to anyone else it’ll just sound like nonsense.

Also, glad you’ve enjoyed the effort I’ve put in Cyberpolice.

I just love this quote because it’s exactly what my DM say over and over again in his D&D sessions.

You have a wise DM.

.

Progress remains stalled currently due to real life stuff, as I mentioned before(and likely no improvement for May), so early June is almost certainly going to be the “update date”.
