First off, you’re awesome! And happy cakeday!
Secondly, wow, how come I never noticed those little arrows?!
Sure enough, they are there!
Collapsing indented blocks is enough for me.

Can anyone help me with a bit of market research? I’m doing some performance analysis on very large files in CSIDE. Can anyone share any of their numbers/statistics? Primarily looking for the number of lines, but word count and file size on disk wouldn’t go amiss. Does anyone venture into the 30k+ line territory (per individual scene file)?
Tagging a few people I know have larger published works, (apologies if any of you don’t use CSIDE, but your input would still be very helpful, if you’re willing).
@JimD, @Havenstone, @Nocturnal_Stillness, @AllenGies, @Cataphrak
Many thanks in advance!

My biggest chapters clock in at about 5k-6k lines, but I use Notepad++, so the lines themselves might be counted differently.

My largest file so far is 23k using Notepad++.

I’ll check when I get home from work for you!
Edit:
My largest file is 220kb and clocks in at 4383 lines and 34210 words including code.
Hope this helps.

My largest is from Tin Star, Chapter 7. The Notepad++ file takes up 978kb space, has 21k lines, 153k words, and 1m total ‘length’… whatever that means.
No idea if it plays any differently on account of all that.

Hello!
I found something while working in CSIDE this morning and thought I might share to see if this was a bug or something.
The thing
So I was working on a story and I wanted to use only opposed pair stats as the skills. So I go on my usual way and create the opposed pairs;
I think I got that code right, mostly. It isn’t the problem however.
It starts when I run the game inside the CSIDE;
As you can see, in each of the blocks, the last opposed pair’s right side word just vanished. Poof. Just like that.
After a bit brainstorming, I was able to fix it, although in a very unorthodox way;
I added a placeholder stat in percentile in the first block and moved the opposed pair up in the second block.
And the funny thing is, it worked;
That is, if you can ignore that there is a stat literally named Placeholder in your stats screen.
Some background info; I run a Windows 10 rig which was updated just before I downloaded CSIDE this morning. And no, Notepad doesn’t have this problem.
So my question is; is it a bug? Or is it some cside feature that i didn’t know?
PS:Sorry for my poor english. I am not a native english speaker, as you can see.
Also, sorry for the shaky images. It’s the best I can do regarding the circumstances.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: sorry for creating a new thread. I was unsure whether this would fit in an existing thread or not.
I’ve got CSIDE open on my computer right now. Would you be able to send me the relevant portion of your code and what version of CSIDE you have so I can try to recreate it?

Sure thing.
I am currently on v1.2.1, as the changelog is telling me. As of the code;
Hope that helps!
Edit: I’ve run the code again and it works now. Huh, that’s weird.
Sorry
@WallyWorld, for wasting your time. I think it could be a bug, an inconsistent and mildly annoying one.

No reason to be sorry! Weird that it didn’t work the first time, but I’m not gonna argue if it fixes itself. Glad you can keep working now!

Hey @moonfungus, thanks for reporting this. Can you please let me know if it happens again?
As it has ‘fixed’ itself now, it’s probably not (currently) worth spending too much time investigating it. I imagine it is a bug though, just one that’s trigger conditions are rare and unclear at the moment.

@CJW sure, I will report it again if it happens for a second time.

@CJW just found a bit of weird behavior that I’m not sure is intentional or accidental - either way it could actually be pretty useful.
If you highlight a line of code, hold control, press x or c to cut or copy, and then while still holding control click somewhere else and press p, your text cursor will appear in both the original and new location. You will end up pasting the cut or copied code in both locations and if you type, you will type in both lines as well. It will also happen if you control click and start typing.

@WallyWorld I managed to replicate it! Here’s a pic;
When I try to do the same thing with my mouse (as in right click, copy, paste) it doesn’t trigger, but whenever keyboard shortcuts are used, it’s triggered.
Using v1.2.1. Hope that helps, thanks!

This is intentional, see Help -> Basic Topics -> Code Editor -> Multiple Cursors.

Those are some really neat additions, but what CSIDE desperately needs is ability to make save files like.

Save files?
EDIT: ah, save plugin support? It’s on the TODO list for the next update

There are a LOT of posts on here, so I"m sorry if this question has already been asked.
I love using the ChoiceScript IDE. One question I have, is it possible to send off my WIP to someone else so they can play through it and see how it’s going?
I’ve been unsuccessful at figuring out how to do this so far.
If you upload your game to dashingdon you have the option to set the game to private, so only people with the link can play it.
