Crème de la Crème – Climb to the very top of the class!

Crushed it.

Perfect marks

I actually screencapped all of Starling’s stats screen, but posting through mobile is a little fiddly.

The highlights
  • Outscored Hartmann on exams booyah.
  • Absolutely demolished the inter-school competition.
  • A little light witchcraft, err, occultism.
  • Romanced first Max (the first to make a move), then Delacroix (who I first intended to pursue).
  • Obviously, I went for a stable triad.
  • I elected to have Starling marry Delacroix, reasoning that she needed the independence from her family more.
  • I helped Karson and Blaise, and destroyed Lady Renaldt, but discreetly.
  • Got into a fancy university.
  • Didn’t manage to maintain my legendary 95% accommodating stat, but the personality stats here were a journey and I was fully into it.

Gonna romance Karson in my second game.

Not rude or mean, I appreciate hearing your thoughts! There are some things I’d do a little differently if I was doing it again but it’s all a learning experience. (I didn’t hear from anyone asking for a wedding scene in beta though!) I appreciate that it grabbed you enough that you put so much thought into it and that overall you had a good time!

@Hazel those grades are phenomenal!! No wonder you got into Gessner, they should have been begging you to attend!

Question: do you have to join the same group as the one you want to romance?

If you do, you’ll have more interaction, but you don’t have to  If you join the Perfects and want to romance Max or join the Starlings and romance Hartmann you’ll need to convince them a bit but it’s still possible.

Wow, can I just say that this is one of the top CoGs I’ve ever played, and I’ve played quite a few! It’s up there in my top 3. I loved the writing style and genuinely felt a connection with every love interest (although I was wary in the beginning, since CoGs with lots of ROs tend to be bland, but it was certainly not the case!) The poly relationship was so sweet and Auguste just makes me soft. While I do agree a wedding would have been nice, I think the endings wrapped things up well. All in all, amazing game! I can’t wait to see what you put out next, thanks so much for this. Now let me replay it 100 more times.

Hmm…maybe the marriage chapter, flash forward a couple of years in the case of the Prince, could be a good DLC, other games here have certainly done that. And I certainly agree the final and penultimate chapters needed quite a bit more polishing as they indeed compare poorly to the other 10, that are fantastic, as it stands now.
I hope the author may at least be able to “patch” in some more stressed or upset responses to those events in those chapters, like I said in my earlier review.

I made my MC a vegetarian.Later during a conversation with her parents, her father talked about serving goose(if I remember correctly) on her wedding, then her mother said she didn’t even eat meat.I really appreciate small details like this
I finished Blaise,Emily and Hartmann’s routes.Emily’s my favorite,I wish when my MC told her parents she’s betrothed to the groundskeeper, her parents’ reaction could be more detailed
Oh,Btwcan I romance Auguste while fight against her mother?Spoiler me

I wonder whom do we get as tutor for each stat? Since flair and spirit tend to be my weakest stats my MC gets either Max or Gonzales as her tutors, I’m curious of the other three.

Anyway I think this is awesomely written. The plot’s interesting, the romances are great. I especially liked the sex scene with Auguste where her lack of experience showed, often I feel like games forget that maybe someone who didn’t do it before might not automatically know how to go about the act of sex and they might make mistakes. Tho I wouldn’t go as far a pick a favorite RO until I tried them all.

Edit: Also I wish it’d be possible to make a deal with Florin even tho she obviously isn’t the kinda person who likes to tie herself to one person. Like she marries my MC, but my MC would allow her to have lovers or something like that, Florin would also win with that I think as her parents wouldn’t bother her about marriage anymore, but I guess even that would be too much for her.
Also I noticed that under Entanglements the text said my MCs relationship with her could cause a scandal bc of their different levels in social circles. Was that intented if so I’m confused why or was that a bug bc my MC also romanced Karson in that playthrough?

Intrigue is Delacroix, Poise is Hartmann and Wit is Freddie.

This makes me really want to do a playthrough where intrugue is my dump stat at the beginning. Tho I find it hard to keep that stat the lowest.

Yes you can!

It is intentional, yes  because Florin is so known for being scandalous, having a thing with them could bring the MC into disrepute because of the MC being lower status (Florin wouldn’t have much consequences for their behaviour other than people tutting, but the MC is in a more precarious position)

I just finished my first play through! I loved the game and the characters! The details are amazing and the plot flows so well. I was so excited to see that the game had come out! I ended romancing the prince and I was happy to see that there was opportunities to spend time with them! I am excited to start my next play through!

I managed to romance Auguste after getting chucked in the mines and then publicly exposing Lady Renaldt’s crimes. I assume you’d need a pretty high relationship with them for them to be willing to stick with you after all this, and also that you need your accusations against Lady R to really stick so she’s not around to veto the relationship.

I’m so happy I stumbled upon this cog by accident! I really enjoyed the shaping of our MC, different insights/struggles from the RO’s, and overall story (esp the plot-twist near the end So far, my top favorite RO has to be Karson :cupid: not only is it because I’m a sucker for cliche rich/poor love stories but they’re just so adorable and wholesome I wanted to go across the screen and hug them when they looked a whole mess and were in tears and hopeless :sob: Thank you for your hard work! Off to play more playthroughs~

Man, this one was absolutely amazing, I thought all the characters had fleshed out personalities with a signature “thing,” like how Max was the flashy one and Freddie was the nerdy one, but none of these felt like they were disingenuous or just there for the sake of being there, all of them felt like they fit right in with the story. Overall just a great CYOA game.

Alright, I’m mostly through with romancing each character (Blaise, The Prince/ss, Auguste, Karson, Max, Delacroix) and so far this is one of the best slice-of-life CoG’s out there - if not the best! There was a lot of care taken into characterizing everyone and characters that I initially found irritating really, really grew on me - for example, I didn’t exactly take to Max at first glance, but after hanging out with them more they became one of my favorite characters. I also appreciated how much effort came into how the player can interact with these characters - platonically marrying them, or becoming good friends, in addition to the standard romance. In addition, the freedom in how your character can be played is excellent. You could play through the entire game projecting a virtuous demeanor, but actually be rather scheming and manipulative on the inside - and you can actually perform some rather underhanded moves too! I thought that was really very cool, and fits the setting. There are other small touches that others have mentioned - ‘I kiss them, if they want’ is a very considerate choice, and choosing to be vegetarian has a later callback - that really emphasize the amount of craft and care that was taken in making this game.

I came in expecting my favorite RO to be Blaise, but I actually ended up really liking Karson for their hardworking, practical personality and generally stoic demeanor. What I especially enjoyed was how apparent it becomes that Karson has been morally divided over their actions with the mines, and that, if the PC is romancing them, they’re terrified of the PC finding out about their actions and its consequences - on top of their already existing concerns about the class difference between them, and the repercussions that could have for the PC and the PC’s family! I must say - that is some spicy stuff that is very much on display when the PC asks Karson to marry them.

Looking forward to playing through with Freddie and Hartmann, and exploring all the other ways this game can be played! Thank you @HarrisPS for the hard work, a fantastic job on a wonderful game!

Does anyone have any tips for romancing both Delacroix and Max for the poly romance? I was trying to do it but I feel like I’m just bouncing around from one to the other.

But, Fayl is currently better at writing satisfying endings and epilogues, imho.

By the way can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the full game, particularly the big twist and said endings.
