# Create thing false, set thing true question

So I created at the start of the page

\*create fist false

and later down the path I have

\*set fist true

Keep going and I get to a point where I put in

\*if fist true  
–\*goto\_scene nameofscene

It doesn’t go to the scene though. Instead it comes up with this message:

startup line 365: Invalid expression at char 9, expected OPERATOR, was: VAR [true]

What did I do wrong?

try \*if (fist = true)

Other ways of coding that would also work:

\*if fist = true

\*if fist

\*if (fist)

And when you want something to be conditional on it being false, you can put:

\*if fist = false

or

\*if not(fist)
