If you are still checking this forum, Aerereath’s post number 17 has a number of suggestions.
After playing this game free for the first time on a few recent occasions, the most important decisions re. becoming a werewolf is to :1) Get Sydney to draw up a dossier on werewolves. Then (in Chapter 6), to let Jonas chase you down and bite you (the ‘Face him’ option). Then refer to Sydney’s dossier and take all measures to supress your immune system, to be certain of becoming a werewolf in Chapter 8. The penalty for this is that your work performance will go down. Otherwise, taking just one measure to supress your immune system (such as losing sleep) will apparently make it likely, but not guarantee, your chances of turning furry.
Having seen the email that Congresswolf would be played for free, I have played it a few times now within the last week. I would give it an overall score of 6 out of 10 (Fair-Reasonable).
What worked for me: I am a ‘sucker’ for games that allow the MC to become a vampire or werewolf. In the alternative earth of this game, the werewolf condition was allowed to have enough backstory - and most of the werewolves were law-abiding and peaceful. Also, as someone who is not American, the political aspects were engaging enough (even for repeated plays). I got most of the Achievements too!
What didn’t work for me: This is a politics-first, werewolves-second game. But for me, there should have been more meat on the bones regarding the werewolves and the love interests. Most of the characters felt under-sketched (including the hard-to-please Abby). Apart from Thomas, the others, including the congress candidates, didn’t come with a physical description. Also, Jude and Sydney are never defined as male or female. Whilst that allows for readers to interpret them as they see fit - I found it annoying, as it was harder to me to have a firm idea of what they looked like and how their looks contributed to their characters (because of the actor Jude Law, I imagined the game’s Jude to always be male; and in balance Sydney as always female). In addition, the ‘Join F3’ Achievement felt empty. It’s just verbal - and comes to nothing.
It’s a shame that the game only allowed for the MC to support the two main political parties! Curiously, the two Republicans congress candidates were women - and the two Democrats were men. Why not have the parties have one woman and one man each?
If you do get bitten, at no stage was there an opportunity to tell your love interest (including the werewolf Thomas). Why not? And there was little description of the transformation scene, or love scenes. My advice to the author would be to include more detail - but give the reader the choice to skip the love scenes if they wish (as per Jeffery Dean’s second game in his Werewolf trilogy).
The murder mystery, and the ‘Is my boss a werewolf?’ mystery… Both were too straightforward. More material and more depth was needed, in my opinion. I was expecting twists that never came.
In summary, I was glad to play the game for free - but I’m waiting for Jeffery Dean’s conclusion to his werewolf game trilogy!
