Community College Hero: Releasing Soon

Comment on Stoic romance:

Personally, I think Stoic isn’t a character that should be romance-able. However; a few scenes of unrequited love might keep Stoic in-character while giving readers what they want. At the same time, Stoic will become developed as an even more detached character than before.

I disagree. While she is withdrawn, if you play your cards right, there are moments when Stoic’s… stoicism falters, hinting at a more three-dimensional character. The beauty of the interactive fiction is that your interactions can influence the development of other characters. While treating her with hostility or even indifference might send her further in the wrong direction, I believe unwavering (if tactful) support and companionship could help her in her recovery from whatever trauma she has suffered that makes her withdraw so much. I’m not saying she becomes sociable, or even amiable, but I think it should be possibleto form an intimate personal connection.

Like she still might be detached from everyone else but to the mc she actually says a few words or at best a complete sentence or show her way of liking you like taking the blame if you two get in trouble with the teachers anything to show that even though she can’t express herself like Tress Dirty Girl Origami and Uni she still cares someone what about the Mc either as a friend or romance by just being more open to you,

I like that people are still interested in Stoic even though she doesn’t get much “screen time.” I have a rough idea of her story arc for the series but the specifics aren’t nailed down, and as @Polyhymnia said, some of it may turn on how your MC interacts with her.

General note: I wrote 5,000 words today and estimate I have another 10,000 words left to the finish line,so that could happen by this weekend. But that’s just the writing, not the coding. The coding always takes me longer than the writing.

just played the newest version.

i freaking love this game!

Can some one tell me who the romance choices are?

@IceeCry, first - yay for the 1,500th post!

Romance options include Uni, Mob, Stunner, Tress, Dirty Girl and Crook. Some are more well formed than others and some require you to make certain choices to access the scenes. And some are more explicit than others. It’s impossible to get them all one playthrough (plus that would be a rather hormone-driven MC!)

@AdamGoodtime, glad you like it! I promise the next update will be the beta.

It has been a long time since I last played cause of real world stuff, and it has changed quite a bit. That said I do like the changes and I think everything is very enjoyably. I think that the added persona is interesting, albeit not important and did help the immersion. I also think that Soldier is an interesting name for the class as it sounds more intriguing than other options in my opinion. And on the stance of romancing Stoic, My opinion hasn’t really changed in that only do it if you think you can manage it well (which i’m sure you can) as she is such an interesting character, but so stoic that romance could be difficult. Only suggestions I have are 1, always keep the players options as relevant as you can manage while keeping the story interesting, which you have done well with so far, and 2, explain why a wombat? I would almost pay for a second book featuring C-wom and his revelation that a wombat was the most fitting creature to inspire fear in criminals, and hope among the sheep… I mean citizens. Also I apologize for the rant, I tend to do that for some reason.

Thx I had not been on this WIP sense Aug

The ‘brooding’ one was easily my favourite. I imagine it’s what Batman had to do in his first couple of years.

“Till next time, Catwoman!” Wait, no, way too perky, “Catwoman (courteous nod.)”

@anyhelpbob, Haha, I’m happy you noticed how C-Wom’s explanation of his name was interrupted. You might expect that to be a recurring thing in the storyline.

@Zanite, I’ve always liked Spidey and how he annoys enemies (and some allies) with goofy banter so jokester is my personal favorite but I thought brooder would be the general favorite among readers because of the Batman thing.

Did you go to the hospital with Origami? If so, did the newspaper article describe your persona correctly?

HornHeadFan, simply as a point of interest, I find it interesting that Captain America is your idea of a soldier; can you explain the rationale behind it? I’m not trying to challenge anything; I just want to see things from your point of view.

@hornheadfan has crook’s romance been updated?

I’m also interested considering Captain America is known for using a shield instead of a ranged weapon (even though he has used it ranged before).

@Wyrmspawn, @RagEgnite,

It’s just my imperfect attempt to label a street-level hero version of a “tank mage” from classic fantasy stories. Don’t read too much into it. I thought Cap was a decent template since he has a tactical mind, good armor in the form of his shield, and also has distance attack component. Punisher would be another example as he traditionally wears body armor and I view him as a “solider” type as well. Basically I just wanted two melee archtypes and two ranged archtypes so this is what I came up with. Plus I think it sounds pretty badass.

And @Rosyln_samalt06, no Crook updates in the posted update but there will be a new Crook romance scene in the beta. In fact I just wrote it yesterday.

This is probably the best I’ve read, I picked Detective and my personality was brood. It definitely felt like a younger Batman. I was wondering though, why when you get the option of talking to C-M, Crook or Stoic, the MC gets paired with Stoic anyway. At first I was pretty excited about getting the chance to work with Crook because the MC and him share similar qualities. Then when I got paired with Stoic I got confused. And with the Soldier choice, wouldn’t it be more aimed at melee attacks rather than long-ranged?

“Cameras alll swivel to catch your reappearance. Several people in the crowd make their throughts known.” - all? thoughts?

Edit: “Let me follow up on that You mentioned a lunatic wanting to make a name for herself.” - You’re missing a period there.

“Mob’s grimmaces and looks down at his damaged desk, avoiding eye contact with anyone as your laughter adds to the mix. The Hedonist smirks at you.”

Should be:

“Mob grimaces and looks down at his damaged desk, avoiding eye contact with anyone as your laughter adds to the mix.”

@The_Oracle, thanks for the compliment! I was hoping readers would ‘make’ MCs like brooding detective, or jokester acrobat or traditional soldier that would represent their favorite comic book characters. I’m currently working on the mechanics of the Rain/Shine fight and I had considered adding the option to actually team with Crook instead of always routing it back to Stoic. It’s a lot of extra coding and writing through, and it’s not a priority, so we’ll see.

@CaballeroDeAndromeda, good catches.

@HornHeadFan Can or are you going to add like new costumes for superheroes…the current ones are not bad,just saying but they feel too “funny”.Can’t we get like kevlar bodysuit or something along those lines?
