If you take away my ability to bust a cap in fools I may just cry.
@HornHeadFan
I actually meant it as a reference to Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition
edit: As a side note, I was able to play the Stunner date - really fun!
Noticed 2nd date with uni is under construction is this being rewritten or something? Also got an error on my whore MC
After kissing Uni while dating Tress. Will post up the error code later. Props on the Story/Game so far!
Kickpuncher! Didn’t Cracked do a thing about him as well? I think so…
Wanna get some mega-dope? It’ll get you mega-high!
Hello everyone how y’all doing the loyal fan saying hello!! I also found that same error. I can’t wait for September now! Also can we have a new link please?
Yeah I can’t wait for more of your updates!! Keep up the great work! so I guess we can see it later this week huh? Just wanted to say hello!! I can’t wait for the new archetypes!! Your loyal fan!!
I had to get on here tonight and gush about the art @Wire is working on. I feel like Ned Beatty in the movie “Rudy” when he walks into Notre Dame stadium and says, “This is the most beautiful sight these eyes have ever seen.” There is something very satisfying in seeing the characters you’ve been obsessing about for 8 months come to life on paper…or a PNG file…you know what I mean.
@Thespianbrony, what were you using to bust a cap in the fools? And who are the fools? I hope you aren’t talking about Rain and Shine! Shine isn’t a fool; he’s just (very) slow-witted.
@Shortaay, I don’t know why your post made me lol. How dare your MC kiss Uni while seeing Tress! I have to think about the whole “having people on the side thing”…as it makes things VERY complicated. But in the meantime I will try to fix that error…can you post the error message if possible? Or @StarWarsMaster, do you have the error message?
And I just checked out the Community wiki for KickPuncher…“now his punches were as strong as his kicks!” I love that show. :x
@HornHeadFan Line 2822: Invalid expression at char 2, expected NUMBER, STRING, VAR or PARENTHETICAL, was: EQUALITY [=] Is the error code given. Ladies can’t get enough of my dude apparently :-))
I meant my slingshot and also my tazer later on. And hopefully Tranq darts even later.
@HornHeadFan Best. Compliment. Ever.
I’ve had your characters so much on my mind lately I swear there was a green cloaked fellow in my dreams. I-)
How do you date Uni? I never actually got that arc to happen. =p Is it archetype related or am I just messing up somewhere?
@Brian I mean Garrus Vakarian, I’m pretty sure HornHead mentioned removing it to work on it? I’m not sure if that’s correct so bear with me.
@Shortaay, I’ve checked the code and I have no idea why it’s showing that error. I’ll dig around a bit more.
@Thespianbrony, you may get your wish!
@Brian, if you pick neither Crook’s side nor Tress’s side in the Contrarian debate, you end up in Uni’s group. If you take a dive for Uni in the Breaking People midterm exam, you’ll get the option to take her out to dinner when you encounter her in the library.
However there is apparently an error that crashes the game towards the end of the date and I haven’t been able to find it yet.
Okay I’m working the new archtypes, stats and relationship modifiers into the existing story which is requiring some extensive work, and while I’m at it, I wanted to know everyone’s thoughts on my incorporating a “persona” variable while I’m at it.
My thought is that the MC is pretty much a “blank slate” and I’m thinking all the other characters overwhelm the MC’s personality, or whatever there is of it. So my idea is to introduce a “persona” variable (or not, if everyone thinks it is a stupid idea!)
Here’s how it would work…
I would introduce the variable in Chapter 1 while the MC is walking to school (there will be room because I am shifting the text-heavy exposition about the MC’s father to chapter 3 during the first Secrets class).
The MC recognizes that the most successful heroes all have identifiable personas that help build their brand. The MC plans to adopt one of the following four personas as the MC starts her hero training.
Charmer - focused on sweet talking, manipulation and flirting with other students, the public and maybe even villains (eventually). Gets a slight boost to building romantic relationships. Think of someone like Marvel’s Black Cat
Jokester - focused on having fun, making others laugh and enjoy themselves and maybe even making fun of opponents. Gets a slight boost to building platonic relationships. Think Spidey.
Brooder - focused on being introspective and aloof. May sometimes give short or mysterious answers. Good poker face. Gets a slight boost to discovering secrets. Think Batman.
Traditionalist - focused on doing the “right” thing in all situations. Is respectful to everyone, doesn’t break rules or laws. Urges restraint and only using the lowest level of force needed to accomplish the job. Gets a slight boost to yay. Think Superman.
2 of the 8 main characters would be more attracted to each personality type, and 1 of them would be more repelled. For example, Crook and Uni might be more drawn to a Charmer character, while Tress might be repulsed. Origami and Wombat might warm up to the Jokester more quickly while Stunner might not appreciate all the levity.
I know many folks on the forums didn’t like how the Hero Project railroaded MCs into being a certain ‘type’ during the reality show, but I’m not sure how much of that was opposed to the idea itself or based on it being VERY hard to even figure out what the “right” answer was for your character. I know I scratched my head a lot.
My mechanics for the persona system wouldn’t (totally) railroad the character, but you would be encouraged to make decisions that built your persona. Some choices would be available for all MCs, (like just because you are a brooder, you wouldn’t be prevented from expressing your attraction to someone, but it might be worded differently than how a charmer might phrase things, and the effect might be different). while some other choices would only be available for MCs with the matching persona.
Thoughts?
Is this totally unneeded or would it help develop the MC more?
that would be a cool way to customize the charcter a little more
I think it’d make sense for certain choices to be more effective or ineffective depending on your persona, and I also think it’d be a good idea to put in tweaks every once in a while so that you react to things differently depending on your persona.
That would be totally awesome and plus it makes more sense to move your characters story into a flashback. No matter what u do tho I will always read it and buy also I like the idea of personalizing your mc a bit more. Keep up the great work! From Your Loyal Fan!
@HornHead
Like, for example, here’s a tweak I have in TotDH:
*if (((charisma >= stealth) and (charisma >= cunning)) and ((charisma >= resolve)))
Smirking up at the vampire, you say confidently,
"Enough of your toys, noble reject. Let's dance!"
*if (((stealth > charisma) and (stealth > cunning)) and ((stealth > resolve)))
Giving Sarrivan a bemused look, you say silkily,
"Perhaps if your traps were a little more well-designed, you would have defeated me already. Pity."
*if (((cunning > stealth) and (cunning > resolve)) and ((cunning > charisma)))
Staring coldly up at Lord Sarrivan, you say icily,
"Enough of your mind games, monster! Let us finish this properly."
*if (((resolve > stealth) and (resolve > cunning)) and ((resolve > charisma)))
Glaring fiercely into the vampire's piercing eyes, you bellow,
"Enough of your dastardly tricks and offhanded attacks; confront me directly or I will storm your castle and force you to!"
So when will we be able to see the new stuff? Not that I’m pushing or anything… I love the idea as I said before of personalizing your mc a bit more instead of just jumping right into the story
