@HornHeadFan I think Stunner is going to be one of my favourites. I really enjoy flirting with him, but I think I’d like to date Mob. First things first, I need to work out how to win the Capture the Flag because it’s getting on my nerves haha I guess it depends on what style you have? I realised it’s the case with fighting Mob.
Here’s a question: I wonder how many people got an A from Professor Hedonist, and how many told him it was inappropriate?
@ErinRosado What archetype are you? The only way to win Capture the Flag is with a high Whoosh (charge in), high Shhh (sneak up), or high Zap (shoot - though this makes you no friends). Melee types have no way of winning.
@ErinRosado Yeah, the classes aren’t terribly balanced. Tacticians are able to breeze through every challenge in the game, while Brawlers will fail at pretty much everything.
@OtherGrimm I tried playing as a Brawler. I failed miserably, so went back to Detective. I just did the Capture the Flag as a Sniper and I feel really mean for hurting Origami, so I’m trying something else now. I care too much haha
@OtherGrimm I did a distance attack as a Sniper, that’s why I felt mean. I managed to win nicely playing as a Bullet, so it’s all good.
Also, is it only Mob and Combat Wombat’s secrets that you can learn so far? I’m so curious about everybody else’s secrets and what they might be.
EDIT: Got Tress’ secret.
@ErinRosado, just a quick note this morning because I’ve got a ton of (day job) work to do!
You should also be able to find Tress’s secret and Uni’s secret in the current version. Some are harder to find than others, and others are more “secrety” than others. For me, the definition of a secret is something the character would be very selective about revealing or some information, that if leaked to the public, would cause great embarrassment or constitute a danger to them or their family. And of course we don’t know Nil’s definition of “secret,” do we?
As the game stands now, you may not be able to collect them all in a single playthrough. My goal is to write two scenes each that allow you to learn a character’s secret. Obviously the beta will feature more secrets from Crook, DG, etc.
Sigh this game is number one to me. Out of all the choice games I played this is the best. After hero rise of course keep it up!! I wish it was a month already so I can play the finished game…
Since Nil keeps stressing that we shouldn’t tell anyone our secrets, wouldn’t that mean we’d go against the core of his teachings if we tell him about the secrets we’ve learned?
So either we could potentially say we’ll learn all secrets, and then just lie and say we did and he shouldn’t really complain and demand any more info because that’s what he taught us to do.
Or, he’s so informed that he already knows all secrets, so we’d merely be confirming that we know them as well. Which would be really disturbing in its own right. But in either case, it would be wrong of us to tell him no?
That argument should be a thing. What more could a teacher want than a student who really took to heart what was taught?
Personnally, I want to learn Nil’s secrets, now THAT would be worth an A. And telling him up front you’re gonna learn his secrets, now that’s brass!
PS. For the sake of simplicity, I went with a gender biased pronoun, I am well aware.
@StarWarsMaster, the story is progressing right on schedule. Hopefully I’ll finish up the press conference scene this week and move into writing the final exams next week.
@Thespianbrony, I’ve thought about that too. I definitely want to revisit the MC’s secret re: dad’s occupation, and I think that would make a reeeeaally tough choice for the reader as to whether or not to share that info with one special person. However, I would need to figure out how much a reveal like that would affect coding and narrative for the sequel. I only want a few main story altering variables to carry over.
@Leingod, yes but you can’t find it by romancing her or by being a perv. I’m adding another way to find it. I want some secrets to be hard, but not frustratingly difficult, to find. I know most readers only read one of these gamebooks once or twice.
@HornHeadFan If I could, I’d definately try and dig up the dirt on Nil, maybe even use it as leverage to make him stop all this nonsense sowing dissent and distrust among the students. And I would refuse to give him any secrets I’ve learned based on what I said before, unless I was betrayed by a class-mate, then perhaps I would consider mutally assured destruction… Or I could just play it off as being untrue I suppose. I don’t even know if the MC has any secrets to uncover, at least not if you tell people you’re unpowered like I did.
@MutonElite, well there is the whole “my dad was a villain murdered by the Dozen” secret the MC is burdened with. Do you really think your Speck classmates, even your closest friends, would trust you after learning that?
@StarWarsMaster, I plan to create it in September during the whole HG submit for publishing stage. I figure I might have some down time that month.
@HornHeadFan yes the single most terrifying villain ever However I do think that the idea mutually assured destruction and being able to tell Nil that we’re not going to tell him the secrets whether we have them or not. Imagine the reactions when in front of the the whole class you tell him/her you have the secrets, then refusing to tell them to him/her. That could be interesting. Also I have to say I have been liking the whole secret assignments, even though I am horrible at finding them.
