Community College Hero: Releasing Soon

@WubWub117, no because that would change a lot of the narrative. However, I have considered including an IAP that would give the MC all obtainable upgrades.

@jcury, thanks!

@Fiogan, oh I am very skilled at telling horrible jokes. My wife says that is one of my strengths. But I already forgot the new one…is it about cat allergies?

@HornHeadFan Oh yes, it was cats. I have to say, I liked the ‘Where’s New York?’ one better because the reaction was almost, ‘Wait… is that even a joke?’ (: It’s lovely that HELL’s teacher has a quirky sense of humor as well (but different to the dean’s).

@Fiogan, I think I changed it because I wanted the reader to remember Mega Cat throughout the story so I’ve tried to weave in references whenever possible. But maybe I’ll reinsert the New York “joke” for the reason you stated.

And writing McCormick is easy because I’ve met many attorneys somewhat like her.

I loved the New York joke because it literally made no sense xD lol!

I love the new update! The entire scene in Downfall’s class was hilarious. Will we have any more funny fight scenes before the end of the game?

Since you kept mentioning how much the MC wanted to take a nap, I had a thought. Maybe you could add a “sleep” stat like in Choice of the Deathless that affects how competent you are. Sleep is very hard to come by in college.

Also, the stat screen looks a little cluttered with every possible upgrade listed. Maybe you could condense it by just listing all the equipment the character currently has.

I liked Dean Tolly’s old joke. Could you slip it back in somewhere? Maybe when you’re in her office, one of the papers on her desk as a list of jokes she’s come up with. Or maybe you can break into her office later in an attempt to acquire a few secrets for Nil’s class. While you’re going through her files, you find a whole stockpile of jokes! :stuck_out_tongue:

Since you want to get more Mega Cat references in, perhaps the player could have some silly Mega Cat-themed school supplies. And maybe you could have a scene where all the students compare their superhero-themed notebooks. That could also be a chance to introduce other major superheroes and villains in the world.

Anyways, this is great, as always! Keep up the good work!

@Mirabella, those ideas are pretty awesome across the board. I will fix the stats screen at some point. Love the suggestions with the school supplies and Tolly having a joke drawer.

I’m not sure if I’ll toss in a sleep variable as I’m trying to streamline instead of expand, but it’s worth thinking about. And there may be another silly fight scene but most of them from here on out will have -much- higher stakes. Dah dah dahhhh!

Keep up the great work! I’m loving what your doing so far!! I’m looking forward to seeing the rest

Why do I get the idea that the Contrarian doesn’t have much of a personal motive, and is more interested in catching the interest of a group like the Diabolical Dozen. Much like the MC wants to get into a good school…

@StarWarsMaster, I’m glad you liked the update. I’m starting work on the rest of the Chapter 5 tomorrow. One of my father’s day requests is a two-hour block of time to write that’s not 10 o’clock at night!

@Gobble, so you think the Contrarian isn’t really guided by the philosophical beliefs expoused in her notes, huh? You’ll get the answer before the end of the story.

I have a sneaking suspicion the MC does have a power. He can resist both gladiator’s persuasion and Hedonists… Thing. Maybe or relates to that?

@HornHeadFan I have a suggestion for a Romance aspect for Mob, since he is staying out of the investigation, and since you’re planning on making him available to those who even do the investigation, I was wondering if maybe Mob could worry over a character that is involved and from time to time tries to change their mind or watch over just to make sure they’re safe. It just seems like a very Mob-thing to me.

General Comment: So other than Samuel’s catch of “Speak” as a typo, no one else sees any typos? I try to proofread for that sort of thing but I’m just making sure.

Also, any continuity errors?

Did everyone get the right equipment upgrade for their combat style?

Did everyone get greeted by their “team” at lunch if they chose to sit with their team?

Did everyone get shooed away by a team if the MC was trying to sit with people not on the MC’s team?

Any continuity errors with the Tress or DG date scenes, i.e. were you only able to get those scenes if you were dating the person and if you chose that option?

Has anyone been able to collect more than 3 secrets on a playthrough? By this point, Tress, DG, Mob, Uni, and Combat Wombat all have secrets available to obtain, but I don’t think it’s possible to get all of them, but I think 4 might be possible.

By the end of chapter 5, Crook, Stunner and Origami should be added to that list, and I’ll introduce new ways to obtain some secrets in Chapter 6, so for example, if Tress thought you were a perv in Chapter 2, giving you no chance to get her secret, you might get another chance in Chapter 6.

@Thespianbrony, I won’t make any comment. I’ll be honest and say that I’ve given myself options and inserted a few red herrings or ambiguities to allow myself to make changes as I keep going, but at this point I’m still thinking no powers for the MC (although if I write future stories, things could always change). Also, I assume you’re a MLP fan? My girls and I enjoy watching the new series and were very happy to see Netflix has the new episodes now.

@trollhunterthethird, yes that is a very Mob-like thing to do. I’ll have to keep that in mind as a possibility. When I start on the second half of Chapter 5 tonight or tomorrow, I’m starting with his scene so I’m definitely in Mob brainstorm mode.

Everything worked correctly for me. I’ve never gotten more than 3 secrets on a play through (just now, I tried for four and somehow managed to get two instead of the usual three. oops). I have absolutely NO idea how to get DG’s secret. (:

Punctuation:
“Its always best to start with a joke”
Should be “It’s always best to start with a joke.”

EDIT: Also yay Mob. All of the characters are really interesting and well-defined, but Mob and Crook are definitely my favourites thus far.

Myself I chose to date Dirty Girl and at the under construction part and it said I had a date with stunner but other than that things are great! Also I agree the MC probably is immune to certant things which would be the reason why Speck chose him.

@StarWarsMaster, are you saying you chose to go on a date with DG but the game directed you to Stunner instead??

I had the DG directing to Stunner thing as well, but it was right at the end of the beta (so I assume it’s just a text placeholder, eh?)

Give me a sec to work on it.

@StarWarsMaster, @Fiogan, and everyone else,

I certainly don’t expect you do replay the game right now, but I think I just fixed something and you should be able to go on dates with either Tress or Dirty Girl if you are dating either of them. I had misspelled the variables for that scene. Oops!
