Community College Hero: Releasing Soon

@Mara, you pointed out the issue. Men and women are different in some ways, so I think it’s reasonable to acknowledge that in a few scenes, but I certainly would not to go overboard either because the goal is to be as inclusive as possible. I thought the costume/character choices would help let tr reader “make the mc his/her own.”

@JLBH, you threw out a lot of comments so its hard to address them all, but rest assured you will be able to upgrade some gear/weapons but you will always be Batman-like. No super powers, at least for this story (already considering ideas for a sequel)

Also, you have the chance to meet other Speck students, including the “regular” students, but those will be more minor characters. I can only juggle so many characters, and you haven’t even met the professors (other than McCormick) and the villains yet!

@HornHeadFan
Still 'ard ta get attached to a character when they are within the gender binary, natch.

Bagel, I would consider adding a third option but I don’t think a can realistically address all of them. I know Facebook has over 100 sexual/gender identities. What would be an option that might include more folks? “Other” could include everyone but its so generic and I don’t want to offend folks in the LGBT.

I know a few people that prefer to be identified with gender neutrally; they, them, you, stuff like that.

If I’m gonna be batman 3 things needed- 1) money, 2) intelligence and extreme hand to hand combat skills, 3) an awsome butler lol

@ChimeraLord An awesome butler should take up two slots. I hear it’s hard to find good help, so awesome help… Definitely worth two slots.

It seems decent enough, but why do we have no powers? We aren’t even rich to be equipped with high tech armor or weapons. Are you going to solve these issues as the story progresses? Also, I feel that you should add more options for clothing and weaponry (also be more descriptive please). Also, as others have mentioned, perhaps allow the person so select their own weapon? Also, why not give an advantage to the hero that is an unknown to perhaps the reader, or to herself until a later time (I think that would be interesting)?

Sounds good to me

Still get an error when taking out origami

‘I’d rather not specify my gender’ could earn you one. Hm.

Singular ‘they’, I’ve found, is a common nonbinary pronoun. I’ve met a lotta peeps with different identities, but those who are outside such as agender people or those who refuse ta specify on their gender do use different words to refer to themselves, but even ‘avin’ one nonbinary option would be worth a lot more than none at all, I’m sure.

I will try to post updated story to Dropbox tonight. Until then you’ll still get the error messages described above in the thread. I think/hope/pray that the new update will be error free.

Will you please post the next update? I’m Addicted to the game!!

I love this game so far!
I think it might be cool to add a tech skill? So you could make a character like Blue Beetle or something.
I’d also appreciate it if you could have some sort of explanation for what stat is what, like maybe in parentheses or something? Some of them are easy to tell, like “shh” and “hmm”, but other ones I have difficulty on.

@starwarsmaster, thanks for the kind words. I’m beyond excited that anyone would be “addicted” to the story. It’s certainly encouragement to keep me going.

@redroses, I appreciate your supportive words. I will explain the stats in the stats screen as soon as I figure out how. The advice in the wiki did not work when I tried to insert the explanation under each stats. And the MC may not reach blue beetle (who I love, especially the toon version), but the MC will have a chance to score very high tech gear near the end of the story (think force field or laser pistol).

General comment: I am reworking the combat system to invoke the “dice roll” mechanic so that some of your actions will be easier than others but many will be possible.

Also I’m creating archetypes (6 in all) that focus on two different stats each. It will allow some player/reader choice in weapons and equipment while preventing me from having to account for every possible combination.

I think it would be cool if you could (eventually) get like a sword for mele

Really enjoying the update, especially with the added gender neutral option. :slight_smile:

Okay, my progress slowed due to sick children in the house but I’m pretty much done with the first two chapters. Those chapters focused on universe building and introductions of many of the characters but the plot and action are really going to pick up now in Chapter 3.

I’ve also added lots of information to the stats page explaining the stats and combat styles. New link is below

@RedRoses,

Thanks. I want to be as inclusive as possible. Most of the main characters are similarly open minded when it comes to romance in that gender identities don’t matter, although I may code a couple of them to be straight, gay, etc.

I think this may be the best superhero choice game by virtue of having retractable roller skates and a machine-washable jumper for a uniform.
