@JimD, @Havenstone, @CJW, can anyone paste the link on my May 4th post to the top of the thead? I changed the file name a few weeks ago so it’s bad now. Thanks so much!
@vampierkid222, for now you have to go to my May 4th post for the link.
@HornHeadFan
Done!
Wait how did you detective get an A?! Tell me!
@Beezlebub, I was convinced by some of our thoughtful posters that the detective should be able to use combat awareness (aka Hmmm) to beat Wombat, so that is possible now. Just don’t try to punch him. There should be a more clever option available now, as @ceecrab noted.
@HornHeadFan
I got an A as a tactician
So did I! I can’t wait for the next chapters this is by far the best Wip game I’m playing on here and no problem keep up the good work!
My tactition who is also a floosy managed to get straight A’s
On my first read through, my grades were:
Breaking Things - D
HELL - C
Defense - B
Secrets - B
(2.25 GPA)
But on my second, they were:
Defense - B
Secrets - B
Breaking Things - A
HELL - A
(3.5 GPA)
A few of my friends knew I was pretty strong, stronger than looked anyway, and they told the coach.
Should be “stronger than I looked anyway”.
Being a powerless hero in this is pretty fun; I like to show the powered heroes how its really done B-)
Loving the story so far, one of my favorite WIP. Quick question, does your age have any affect in the story? Cause I found it hilarious that my spandex and leather clad 40 year old Luchador blends in with college kids alarmingly well. Anyway, keep up the great work.
@ShadowWolf0200, I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself. Welcome to the thead!
@Pendrew, Welcome to the thread as well! I’ll be honest that I’m a bit perplexed about what to do with age and money (and also elective classes)
I have so much going on with grades and weapon upgrades and relationships and insurance claims and plot that I keep forgetting to weave in age and money.
Does anyone think they (especially age) are that important? I feel like just dropping a couple of those variables and making things easier on myself, but if folks think age is vital, I’ll try to work with it.
@HornHeadFan
It’s not vital, but age would definitely add more depth to the story, and allow some readers to relate more. If you do throw the option out, though, I’d say have the default age be 19
I have a question will our elective choices have any affect? I can’t wait for the rest of your game! Also I can’t wait to see how you go back to the beginning!
Honestly, I don’t think that the age/elective are that important really. I mean they can add depth but I can’t really see this working for the 40 year old man or women. So if you can figure out how to work it cool but if it’s just gonna be a bother than i suggest scrapping them. up to you of course, just my two cents.
Well, with costume functionality you could possibly upgrade your costume for other benefits, like flame retardant materials, for the Skills in the Workplace you could buy additional gear to help you, like skates for the detective and whatnot. For Social media you could possibly gain sources from people to help in investigations or something like that. Just some thoughts
@Samuel_H_Young, @anyhelpbob, Well I can keep age as a cosmetic “variable” with no real impact. I’m certainly fine with doing that.
It’s just that I’m finding myself writing 3 to 4 versions of many dialogue scenes based on some invisible variables like romantic interest, friend/enemy status(for example, Origami basically becomes an enemy if you tell her she made a big deal out of you shooting her) and prior events (I’m trying to have Tress remember if you’re a perv, Stunner remember if you tackled him/lost the game, etc.) so I’m reeeally not excited about the proposition of coding differently reactions based on the MC’s age, especially since I don’t think it would add -that- much to the story.
I’m guessing it could make sense treating age as cosmetic since other students may have difficulty determining your age. Seeing as how you’re always in costume, they wouldn’t necessarily have a reason to treat you differently.
@StarWarsMaster, electives are another element I’m thinking about just tossing. I haven’t decided yet. If I wrote those scenes, I would want to create the ‘rewards’ promised in the course descriptions (making money, designing another costume, increasing yay through social media), and then I would have to figure out what the MC could actually -do- with that extra money/costume/popularity, so that’s actually a lot more work than it would seem. Again, it doesn’t seem crucial to the story but I thought it was a neat idea at the time.
@HornHeadFan
Definitely don’t make it too complicated. I’d say just toss those other variables if you don’t love the idea of doing them. Your stories already amazing as it is
