Community College Hero: Releasing Soon

Will there be an opportunity to shoot downhill on our rollerskates?

@God_of_Demonz, remember this is the first year for Speck’s program, and that Savior and especially Prestige would never ever eeeeeehver accept a nonpowered student so this is the first year any non powered wanna be hero could even possibly be accepted to a hero training program.

That being said, I agree with many of the thread posters that considering the above, that Speck should be overwhelmed with nonpowered applicants so I am rewriting some of Chapter 1 to indicate that, and I’ll also give the MC a special secret and/or accomplishment to at least partially explain why the MC was selected for the sole “quota” nonpowered student.

Keep sending secret ideas via private message. I have decided not to have the MC come from a superpowered family because I reeeeaally want to distinguish my story from Heroes Rise.

I may be relatively silent for the next few days because I need to write more and look at the forums less!

@Zanite, isn’t that a bit like running with scissors??

@HornHeadFan

I would think that it depends on the recoil and how you much you are used to it.

@HornHeadFan ah but are there some non-powered vigilantes that didn’t go to those overly prestigious schools? I’m talking about a Batman type character who didn’t go to school, but takes down criminals that have eluded Powered heroes and Law enforcement for years. Also doesn’t register their name with the big book of heroes(assuming there is one) because they resent Powereds for being elitist and not even giving non-powered people a chance. Just saying, that might be a good character to possibly contact the MC at some point and try to train them. A possibility?

Will we get the option to turn the secrets thing against Nil, if we’re playing teen detective of course?

Because I’d much rather earn an A against that class by finding something out about hi than spying on my fellow students.

@stsword

An awesome idea, but it’d probably require a very high investigation score considering he’s the teacher of that class.

@HornHeadFan I actually meant ‘shoot’ as in move fast, but that’s a great idea.

Yeah, I figured, hence my saying that I figured one could only do it on a detective playthrough, I figure a bullet doing it is a bit beyond liklihood.

Good stuff so far. Looking forward to getting to know Stoic.

Also fingers crossed that my Batman-esque detective lady gets to become Nil’s protégé.

Hey sword wouldn’t it make more sense for a tactician to do it I mean he has stealth AND intelligence so I think that would help you in getting his secrets more then brawling would.

Hey beating information out of people is a time honored tradition, lol.

But yes, you’re right, when I meant detective I should have included the tactician as well.

There is that. :stuck_out_tongue:
Detective seems the most likely candidate because of the name anyhow. :wink:

But the Detective has a listening device. We’ve seen how useful that is

I am revising to make the listening device massively overpowered.

I like the characters and power sets so far. Anyone to think their weak are seriously underestimating possibitlies here. I play Champions with friends. We have a couple really low end types. But without the abilities they decided upon couple of missions would gone downhill. They underestimated me at first till went across a stronger group than ours. Only survived due to creativity of weaker ones.
combine smoke, hair and paper is destined to be a great trap unsuspected. Paper on top of normal paper anywhere is a great lookout. Hair tangles in smoke doesn’t need to see, remember feeling an ant crawl on your hair when just laying and admiring clouds? I have. Saved myself from that red ant hill swarm. I don’t disqualify anyone being useless as I look to see what I can use it for.
Which leads to why can’t a detective close his eyes and listen to a hugely overdressed thing moving about? If listening device is part of his equipment. Which, just hearing him crashing into things makes it plain where he is. Take slow movements catch him offguard easily. He on other hand has to much stuff on to be quiet no matter what.
I agree on other postings of about how we got in. To say how underpowered these people are is weak assessments to me. Which I would not want to go to the other schools cause of it.

Thinking about it, could the Detective be used as a Stealth Predator? He does have analyzing equipment and combat skills. In capture the flag, it seemed like Stunner did all the planning, yet I believe the Tactician is a better strategist.

For a Sniper upgrade, could we get a bow that taser/blunt arrows? It’s long distance, non-lethal, and if you can get a techie friend then they can make more types of arrows for you to use.

Edit: I didn’t see anyone who seemed to be a tinker. Could you add a Tinker/Techie character who loves making odd devices?(Possibly an older character for the 40 year old?) Or make it a playable class?

Yes! I like the tinker/mechanic idea a lot! :smiley:

Well to be fair, since the goal of the school is to make superheroes who are ninja detectives with superpowers, the PC doesn’t seem special.

The skills aren’t anything the school isn’t going to teach the other superpowered students anyway, the equipment doesn’t seem special either, so again it’s nothing the other students couldn’t get in addition to their superpowers.

So its not like gurps or champions or what have you, in which the supernormal character is just as competent they just bought different things, in this scenario the other supers are just built on more points. So it’s not batman and superman team up, it’s batman teams up with green lantern batman, or vampire batman, or kryptonian batman, etc, etc.

And yet not only is the PC let in, he's given a scholarship, when he quite blatantly has less potential than the other students.

 So in this game Kick-Ass gets a scholarship to Jean Grey's school for gifted youngsters, I don't blame anyone who thinks that needs an explanation.

For the record, though, I sent several suggestions to the author to address it.

Such as? Or are they private?
