Community College Hero: Releasing Soon

Okay, Chapter 4 is posted! Before you ask, I’m still thinking about how to incorporate the elective class (I don’t plan to spend much time on them), so they are not mentioned in Chapter 4 at all.

After you read the chapter, will you post your GPA on you first run-through and then post the best GPA you are able to attain (and mention your combat style too)?

This info will help me tweak/balance things down the road.

And as always, please post any errors you encounter with the line number. Thanks!

Link?

Also, when asked what our powers are, can we just say we can take care of ourselves?

Just click on the link in the very first post.

Can we lie to Dirty Girl when she asks if we meant to hurt Origami? Or just have more opportunities to lie in general.

Also, we could we ask Stoic to spar with us in the dorm? I feel like that be a better way to get to know her rather then asking personal questions that may reveal her identity.

I’ve noticed that on all my playthroughs, when I get to the dark fight, no matter what I do Downfall calls time up before I can beat ComWom. Is this part of the game or am I doing something wrong?

I really enjoyed the demo. I will be following the progress of this gamebook.

I took a dive for Uni…I’m a sucker for a southern accent. I was hopeless against her. Still Aced the course though. Got a 3.5…I didn’t sleaze it up for that A.

God_of_Demonz, I’ll respond once others have played and posted I’m trying to avoid spoilers or too much description of scenes for a day or two.

@GameOver, I’m glad you enjoyed it!

@FallingCups, I haven’t sketched Uni yet but in my mind she might actually be the cutest so between that and the accent, she might be hard to resist (for those who like girls).

Man, The Hedonist is pretty creepy! I did find a spelling error in his second class scene though; “…casually brushing his fingertips against shoulders and arms of students, focusing on contacdt”, and there seems to be a full stop missing at the end of the sentence just before we start our HELL exam.

One question though, it got to a point in my “exam” with the Hedonist where I basically had to agree with him, and I didn’t want to. I decided to play along for the grade but it was getting a bit much for me, don’t think I would have picked either of the two responses that were available.

Really great chapter though! I did surprisingly well in my exams. My Tactician character got an A in Breaking People! How awesome is that!?

@Saracenar, I intentionally gave some love to Tacticians in this chapter because I felt they had been underpowered in the first 3. I’m guessing you also heard Stunner’s whisper?

And without going into details about the Hedonist “exam,” you had options if you didn’t want to play along. There are actually 4 different outcomes so I thought that was a decent amount of flexibility.

Congrats on your A, especially since there is only one way to earn it!

First of all, I’ve been wanting to tell you how much I love this game in forever but for some reason didn’t so, I love this game! I really do. Your writing does the trick for me and it manages to pull me in every time. Hell, I didn’t skim through this once! And trust me when I say I tend to skim through things a lot. I also loved the fact that we had classes as well! (Not class classes but character classes!)

Your characters are really well done as well. I thought that I would be overwhelmed judging sheer amount of relationships when I first looked at the stats but as I played, it wasn’t what I expected at all! You’ve introduced and established them in a way that felt natural (if that makes sense) and I’m glad that I was wrong. It just flowed really well and I enjoyed meeting everyone. With that said, Dirty Girl is definitely my favourite followed by Crook. I guess you could say that he stole my heart B-)

I noticed a few things that I wanted to ask though.

  1. Did you make it intentional for different character classes to have different weaknesses? Because on my playthrough as a Sniper, I had the choice of being overweight, afraid to get hit, scrawny and totally inexperienced but when I was a Detective, I had a lousy shot, clumsy, afraid to get hit and overweight.
  2. Is it me or is there a way for me to win the orientation game as a Detective? I seem to always lose, hahah.
  3. Is there any chance I can just talk to ComWom about his family care packages instead? I felt that reporting him was a little too harsh and my character wouldn’t exactly not do anything either.
  4. I’m with @God_of_Demonz on this because DownFall stops the match before I get to attack too. Is there a way I can beat him?
  5. The stealing secrets thing has gotten me really intrigued! You probably won’t reveal it but I was wondering, if you character went throught the whole ComWom situation and didn’t do anything about it, would that count as a secret? And if they went through (cough gag shudders) “pleasuring” Hedonist for their A, is that a secret as well?

Sorry for the wall of questions! But yeah, I am really loving this game! Good job, I can’t wait for more!

@ceecrab, Thank you for the kind words. Comments such as yours give me confidence that im not wasting my time with my story! I’ll try to address some of your questions however my phone typing will somewhat limit me.

Re: the weaknesses. Yes, they vary by combat style because you can’t have a weakness in an area you are strong in. For example, a stinger will start with 40s in whoosh and zap and so he/she won’t be able to have the overweight or lousy aim weaknesses as they start the player with a 5 in whoosh or zap.

You make an interesting point a about Wombat and yes I’ve been trying to sprinkle a few potential secrets into the story. It will require me to revise a few scenes but yes Wombats secret will be easy to grab but others will be much harder. If I’m not mistaken, Uni blurts out her home state in chapter 2. I’ll have to go back and check.

Yes your MC (as will all “main 9” characters) will have a secret although it might vary based on your actions. Your suggestion about Hedonist is a VERY good one and I may just have to incorporate it.

And finally, yes some combat styles/classes may struggle with some tasks. I’m not sure if I want to make each task winnable by every class or not. I think Stingers and Bullets have a lot of success in the earlier chapters while Detectives and Brawlers can beat up Mob in chapter 3 and Tacticians and Snipers do well in the guantlet in chapter 4. Again I’m open to making a lot of tweaks re combat based on thread comments and ultimately beta feedback.

@HornHeadFan

I chose tactician as my class, studied hard for HELL, and a bit for Professor Creepy’s class. I used my tactical skills to overcome everyone in Breaking Things, aced the test for HELL, promised to get five secrets for Nil, and turned down Creep’s advances.

Final GPA: 3.75.

I can’t ever get past stotic

Hi i have been following this for awhile, but just made an account today.

I love the game so far.DirtyGirl, Crook, Uni and Mob are my current favourites(depending on the playthrough).

To answer your question:my GPA on the first try was 3.0. I got a C in Breaking Things,and a B with(the really creepy)Professor Hedonist.

LOVE this game.

Will we be able to file sexual harassment charges at any point?

@BAPACop agreed.i don’t know what the rules of this school are,but i’m pretty sure teachers usually get kicked out for having an “intimate” relationship with their students.

it would be kinda funny if you could get him fired, but then the other students(who are trapped by his “spell”) hate you for it.

Depending on what more we learn about Professor Creepy that may or may not be a good idea. The way I read it he’s basically capable of highjacking people’s heads, which begs the question of how he got hired as a teacher.

@HornHeadFan Yeah I did hear Stunner’s whisper; should prove pretty handy I think  I have a suggestion as to how that whisper could play into things, but you may already have thought of it. Would it be possible to threaten to tell everyone what he whispered and blackmail him into giving you all the secrets he finds?

I initially did want to play along with the Hedonist but I didn’t realise that meant openly admitting that I wanted to do things with him. Once I got to that point there was no option to back out because it was getting way too creepy. I ended up with a 3.25 though so it was probably a good thing that I did go along with him.

Yeah sorry my bad
