Community College Hero: Knowledge is Power (old WIP thread, now closed)

After reading the short story i’ve decided to begin work on a time machine. I can no longer wait for part 2’s release.

When I heard that title, I was expecting something a little bit more comedic, it turned out to be kind of dramatic. But it’s still an enjoyable Christmas story and it explores a little deeper Stoic’s character.

Thank you, Santa Moser.

Well,that was a fantastic story.

If we ever get the choice to name our team,I’m officially gonna call it ‘Stoic Nation’.

Well, I have some good news and some bad news…

The good news is!..

The next update will include a scene where the main seven agree on a team name

The bad news is!..

There will only be three choices provided. You have to pick one. It would be too hard to code possible public responses to a crazy team name (i.e. The Speck Gazette couldn’t even publish a headline with “The Mighty Assholes Save the Day!”) Yes, I know some folks might have given their MC a similarly crazy name. I just have to draw the line at team names. Plus, it’s a vote, and Mob, Tress, Wombat, and even Crook wouldn’t agree to a name that makes them look like dumbasses. DG Might.)

But the good news is!

I’m coding it so that your choice of the three wins the vote, so in effect, you do get to choose the ultimate winner out of the three. I wanted to at least give the reader that power.

email me at eric at communitycollegehero dot com. But it won’t be immediate - I’ll wait to see how many more people are asking to be added to the list, so I can send it to everyone in one fell swoop!

Someone in my “real life” writers’ group called it “literary.” I was like, “Okay, I’ll definitely take literary!”

I have no problem with this.

HOWEVER…

Three team names don’t offer you much.Maybe brainstorm a couple more?

I wouldn’t mind a couple more names myself also add the option of making your own name

Well, we haven’t seen the team names yet, have we? I’m sure there’ll be one you like. (Presumably all three will be quite different, not just variations in a theme.)

I’m set on having just a few pre-determined choices, again for story reasons, BUT…maybe this is the right time for some input from you fine folks!

One I am going to use no matter what is The Specktacular Seven just because I like it! The other two I am less married to, so they could be bumped by stronger suggestions.

Suggest away! No real need for spoiler brackets or anything, as these are just suggestions. They should be clean though (i.e. capable of being printed in a newspaper), and not central to any one character (No “Tress and the Split Ends”).

Dah, and here I was hoping for “Mob’s Mob”…

Let me guess: Tress and Mob vs. DG and Crook vs. Stoic and Wombat.

What would be those names anyway?

So I came up with some names that could be nice:

The Prototypes. (this references the fact that they’re still new to the hero industry and such)

The Riot Heroes. (they’ve caused a lot of riot in the first book and I’m sure they will later on)

The Auras.(quite frankly, this just sounds cool in my opinion)

The Elite (probably sounded cooler in my head)

So I guess I can’t get the headline “The Day Has Been Saved By The Dismissal Of The Hedonist!”

What a shame.

The other two are Team Z and The Nebraska Knights or Knights of Nebraska (second one sounds less like a minor league baseball team!)

I also like The Rookies because it’s short and also it could be shortened to The Rooks, which when I think of chess, I think of a tower or castle, something strong that protects others. The more I think about it, the more I prefer it to Team Z.

So there are maybe four now:

  1. The Specktacular Seven
  2. Team Z
  3. The Knights of Nebraska
  4. The Rookies

EDITED: This isn’t really too spoilery I guess. I removed brackets.

Not gonna lie, really digging that last one. The shortened version of it sounds really cool too.

maybe Nebraska’s Rookies?

I actually like this one the best, too, so hopefully you won’t cut it.

Nah. Too sports team-y again.
