Community College Hero: Knowledge is Power (old WIP thread, now closed)

IJust popping in to day hello!

I hope to finish the Christmas present today and check that off my list! (but it won’t be emailed for another week or two)

I made my writing business more “official” yesterday with a brand new shiny CCH business account at with my bank so I can keep better track of expenses and revenue in 2017 a not drive my accountant (or my wife) nuts next year. I probably spend more money than most authors here (lots of art, prints/business cards, table fees for shows, shipping for giveaways, etc.)

I have a TON of bugs to fix with the stuff I wrote for the marathon, but I am still aiming to post an (nonbuggy) update to dashingdon later in December.

Other: anything combat wombat related tbh

Okay…where is the “My MC would tap that” option?

Good idea, I’ll keep that in mind

Did my first play through and the story is great so far have seen one or two errors which I’ll post when I re-read and pin point them (if they haven’t been sorted yet) I’m dying to see where the story will go.

Have to say I’m a fan of the hedonist (maybe it’s because I have awful choice in men) I’ll be interested in seeing if it is just a speck given persona or if he’s really just an ass hat. At which point I’d take great pleasure in breaking him down. Will he be an RO?

I’m going to do a few more playthroughs and see how things go. It’s great so far and I can’t wait for the final product. Also thanks for making me feel like my choices actually have impact in what happens. I’ve noticed with more and more games on here I’m either rail roaded far to often or my choices make little impact in the overall story

Okay so I pin pointed the line I was on about earlier. It’s either missing a word or something else as it’s not flowing properly The hedonist brushes against your , whispering in your ear.

If they’re gonna get that option,I might as well request my ‘My MC wouldn’t touch that with a 10 foot pole’ option.

Well, that’s fair. I just thought we should add that option, too (and we already have “Hated everything about him” and “I’d prefer he stayed out of the main storyline” so I think we actually got your point already covered.)

What did you say about Stunner and his 10 foot pole? :barber: Oops I misread.

Anyways, my Christmas present is 98% done. The art is DONE. Thanks @defenestratin! All I need to do is a little last minute proofreading and editing. It WILL be emailed out next week to everyone who emailed me to be on the distribution list. At last count, that was about 175 folks!

That will be the ONLY way to get it. I won’t be linking the short story anywhere. There IS still time to email me at eric at communitycollegehero dot com to sign up!

And I revealed the name of the short story on Twitter just a few minutes ago. @CCH_EricMoser if you want that spoiler

Sounds like something from StarKid.

When are we getting A Very CCH Musical?

That could be Specktacular!

And I do plan to reference plenty of songs (some of my actual favorites) in Part 2, which is allowed as long as I don’t reference the actual lyrics.

After I finish editing the Christmas present, I need to finish my map of Speck, which I realized is 100% needed so that I stay internally consistent with various locations, businesses, etc.

Can anyone think of locations/businesses in the Speck area that mentioned in the story thus far other than the following?..

Heroes Hall and the rest of the SCC campus
Police Station
WSPK
Speck Gazette
Epiphany Church
Burgerz N’Ringz
Daisydell Elementary
Central Nebraska Children’s Hospital
The farm
alley where Untamed fight takes place
Just the Tip massage parlor
Speck student housing (former motel)

The Thirsty Kernel. (place where you go if you follow Crook in the farm decision)

The Gutter. (place that owns the alley where the Untamed fight took place)

Tyler Park. (Capture The Flag)

There was another farm where you’d have the protest thing if you were dating Mob. (not sure if this counts)

The mini golf course if you were dating Tress. (not sure if this counts as well)

That one brownstone where you had the party with Dirty Girl. (at this point,I’m just pulling stuff outta my ass)

That place you went for the country concert thing if you were dating Uni. (now I’m REALLY pushing it)

The supermarket where you meet up with Tress after Capture The Flag. (I’ve crossed the point of no return)

The gym where you bump into Stunner after Capture The Flag. (is there any end to this?)

The football court which you went to in mid term Basics Of Defense. (please send help)

The stadium which had a big game that got cancelled due to the threats of the Contrarian. (there are a lot of places in this book)

Maybe you can also place the housing of the teachers? I remember doing Hedonist’s mid term exam at his place or something. (gotta know where to hide the bombs)

And that’s about it.

That’s it, I’m calling our main barn The Thirsty Kernel. It’s been nameless for far too long…

Tyler Park (from the game of Capture the Flag)
And there was that place Dirty Girl took you to early on in part 1 for a party. Don’t recall there being a name for it though.

edit: Round of applause for AAO everyone.

Well done!!! Holy crap, I’m impressed.

Some of those won’t make the cut for a map, but the Gutter, the Thirsty Kernel, Tyler Park, should all make it. Maybe the high school with the football field. (I think it’s North Speck High, which coincidentally must have loaned their podium to Dean Tolly early in Part 1 because that’s the podium she uses during Orientation).

Basically, if I went through the trouble of naming the place, it might be map-worthy.

If anyone has experience drawing maps, let me know. I was going to use a small town template with a downtown area with a grid system of roads, and maybe a few roundabouts, and then have things branch out more spaced out as you get into the outer reaches of town into the surrounding residential areas and then out into the farmland.

Hey so I would like advice for my play through of the first Community College Hero. if anyone can help.
I already read it and loved it but I want to do a perfect grade run before the second book comes out.
My MC Shadow Tag is a detective hero and I want help on how to get an A on the Defense Class/Breaking People and Things final because I always get knocked out and end up with a B in both and I still get the weapons upgrades but I want to get a A in both. So if you played a Detective let me know how you got a A in the final thank you.

To get an A in both you need to have good relationship with both teacher.
As a Detective, you will need to sleep with the Hedonist in the first test to get an A and always agree with him.
With Downfall you will need to defeat Mob (use surroundings and then punch him on the stomach), defeat Uni (just distract her), get an A in her first test (kick Hi-Jinx, use your surroundings against CW and tie Stoic), agree to hurt your friends in order to learn and win the exercise with Stoic.

Thanks I know that and got a A then but I’m talking about the Final were you have to save Hedonist and take out his captor. That’s were I need help in.

That’s what I’m talking about, you need to have good relationship with them, if you don’t have, they will not give you an A only a B.

It’s quite simple,actually.

When deciding which people to help,ALWAYS pick Tress and Stunner. You’re not good in defense or speed,so picking to help DG would be a dumb move.

After you progress to the fight with Downfall, you’ll have three choices of attack.A melee attack,a ranged attack and an analysis attack.Just cross out the ranged attack, since the Detective doesn’t specialize in it.If you have 7 Pow,go for the melee route. If you have 9 Hmmm,go for the analysis route.

After that debacle, you’ll reach the part where Downfall threatens to break Tress’s arm.Just ignore her and help DG get the Hedonist out of there.

If you have a high relationship with both teachers, you’re bound to get an A in both courses.
