I have come up with a solution for the Zentih route that will (hopefully) make EVERYONE happy.
It’s quite simple. The MC doesn’t lose any powers, and there are no comebacks. They just get 6 OP powers and that’s that.
Of course, the powers won’t immediately be at their full potential when you get them.Maybe they could be in their baby state. (super strength would give you a certain amount of strength, flight would only let you fly a certain height off of the ground, telepathy will give you limited vision of the persons thoughts and so on)
Towards the end of the story, the MC gets used to their powers and unlocks them to their full potential. And I’m not talking about certain powers;I’m talking about EVERY SINGLE ONE of them. Why is this?Because such power cannot go unnoticed.Think of it like the end of Heroes Rose, where we can literally turn an entire floating city halfway upside down if we wanted to.
Sure,it may be disgustingly overpowered, but that’s the beauty of it.
I don’t know, rather than nerf one path, I’d rather see the other two paths have their own unique awesomeness.
The tactician should get an awesome Batman “unbeatable given prep time” moment. The Dr. Stench route should be about salvaging the MC’s dad’s memory, and get some kickass gadgetry and stink bombs.
I trust @Eric_Moser to make the fiction work and balance the game so that it’s not just “pick zenith to win all the time” and every path will be cool and fun.
I think that the Zenith one is my least favourite. For me, the fact that our hero didn’t have any power was an important plot point and a big part of my character, and getting them kinda undermines that.
I could still work if it’s well executed. Speaking of which, how do you think we would get powers? I don’t like very much the idea of having inner powers all along, and then they show up!
I think we should do something special to get them, maybe sacrifice something important.
I agree, the concept of having no superpowers in a superpowered school was very interesting. I agree with having to something special/making a sacrifice to get the powers, though. Maybe you could get powers from a lab experiment (like Dr. Banner or Steve Rogers), to show how far you’d go for superpowers? Like, some super secret, kinda shady lab experiment.
The story already tells us how. Basically all the kids under the dome cities have been “blessed” by the Zenith radiation. The power usually manifests itself upon “puberty” - the theory here for the MC is that since we were in the womb we got a more powerful dose of the zenith radiation then those already born.
The MC has already sacrificed a lot - more then anyone else in the story… the MC had their father sacrificed. What we get for that sacrifice is what we are basically chosing with the three paths.
Please don’t turn this into another “Kill @ParrotWatcher’s boyfriend” thread…
Perhaps the power is locked because there’s so much of it. If we have six times the power of regular heroes, it might make sense for it to be harder to access. Or perhaps it was deeply repressed due to some trauma in the past. Or perhaps we just had to tap our ruby slippers together and chant “There’s no place like Speck”…
No, that’s why we’re so powerful; I was trying to work out why it had lain dormant until now. Also, what about all the other super-students? Were they in the womb too? And in that case, why aren’t they as powerful? This may have said in Part 1, sorry if I’m forgetting something.
This part we are currently trying to figure out - but since we are the only known fetus being irradiated at the time it is my speculation this will be the root of it all.
Personally I loathe the idea of powers acting up or fizzling out, it just makes you a liability to your team. It’s not like tactician is going to have a chance of migraines to mess with them or or the armor route having your armor fail. I agree that instead if trying to rain on the powers to just make the other 2 routes neat in their way. I mean it’s not like @Eric_Moser is going to allow me to go invisible and be shielded and beat someone up with super strength all at the same time, it’s still going to come down to which choices are written regardless of potential .
Wait, so does this mean not only are we the youngest student, but also that there are no potential heroes younger than us anywhere? I’m sure there must have been some other pregnant women at the time.
Well some (much) of this is subject to change as I fine tune the world building, but I can think of at least one Speck student who may also have been in utero. More details about Zenith powers will be revealed through part of the main plot, especially when Prestige comes into play later in Part 2.
On that note, shouldn’t Origami have been conceived after the shield came down? Where does her power come from? And does this mean there are no new people born with superpowers or are they hereditary?
And if you had to choose between Saving Stoic life or Mob life, who would you choose? I’d pick Stotic of course! And would have to give mob one of these✌
