Community College Hero: Knowledge is Power (old WIP thread, now closed)

Some heroes have experienced so much grief and pain through their entire lives that they think that they can repurpose and redirect that anger in a path to achieve justice!
Some heroes may think that the need of revenge can destroy others as well as yourself!
But you, sir, you know the truth, a real hero motivation is punching heroes in the face because it’s so much fun!

Jokes aside, as I said before I chose altruism because I think that what should define a hero is the wish to help others, also I like a more kind and hopeful type of hero.

His achievement was probably the easiest one tho obtain too.

Only if you start playing their games. My MC didn’t play anyone’s games. Indeed, I actually consider that my MC passed that test by learning a secret, but keeping the fact that he had learned a secret secret. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Ah, feel free. We may be unicorns, but our reiterating opinions are just as valid as those of the reiterating detractors.

You next poll perhaps? Who or what do you think is under Nil’s cloak? Dr. Stench, an errant catboy, ignorance and want, one of the former dozen, or pure kagune?

I didn’t find his speech particulary patronizing. It sounded quite true to me, since we’re currently outclassed by pretty much everyone. And he has the skill to back up what he says. Maybe he could have said something about us learning and overcoming our difficulties, but I didn’t find his speech unjustified. And it definitely had the desired effect. But I guess that’s a matter of opiniom.

Though, I think I have to correct myself. I thought the Hedonist saves Dr Hover if you fail, but now I can’t reproduce that, so maybe I somehow mixed it up with when he helps you out.

Nil is certainly also interesting. I always try to get his achievement. For me, at least, Hedonist is currently a bit more interesting simply because he’s actually part of the story at the moment and we do know more about him (even if it isn’t much), while we hardly know anything about Nil. I guess the Hedonist just is on that fine line of knowing enough about him to be intrigued but with enough mystery still left to uncover. While Nil is just one big enigma. xD

But I really hope, we get to have a real one on one conversation with Nil at some point. And getting the Smarts secrets would be awesome.

I think that’s a bit far. I won’t excuse his behaviour, it’s certainly unprofessional, an abuse of his authority, and wrong, but he has no problems if you refuse his “offer” for a better grade. So, unless there is something I missed, I don’t think it’s fair to call him a potential rapist.

Fair enough. “Slimy manipulative bully”, yes. “Rapist”, no.

So I guess that at this point, Eric has most of the story planned out. But I think that it could be fun if we talk about things we would enjoy to see even if we know we might not get them.

  • I would love a part where we have to answer a journalist using some techniques that we will learn from Tolliver’s class.
  • I would like to interact more actively with the community of Speck outside of the school, kinda like when we went to the children hospital with Origami.
  • Go in a mission with the whole team, even if it’s something small like patrol the city for a while.
  • Our love interest/best friend gets kidnapped by the Wyvern/Manipulator and then we have to start an ivestigation to find out where they are and elaborate a rescue plan. At the end your love interest/best friend would be alive but seriously injured (they might have lost an eye, or an ear, or a limb or all their powers).

Any other ideas?

I know this may seem like a genric list but this is what i got at the moment.
A Hero Tournament Speck vs Prestige vs Savior
Get Dirty Girl to drop the drugs
Help Mob get past his past
Visit one of the other hero schools
Find out who trained us before we entered Speck
Meet Downfall again

As entertaining as it would be to see Saviour and Prestige students kicking the shit out of each other, Speck has NO place in that competition. Everyone but Stoic would be torn apart within minutes, seconds for some. Now, if the Hedonist, Captain California, Nil, Downfall and, most importantly, Sandy McCormick fought on Speck’s side they’d probably do quite well, but in reality they’d fight for their respective schools, and even if they did join in that would set the precedent for Mega Cat, the Smarts, and all the other Saviour and Prestige faculty to join in as well and that would end things VERY quickly.

Hm, not necessarily. I’m thinking of the book Phule’s Company, where a regiment of outcasts manages to beat some of the best soldiers in the galaxy. One factor is that they’re not directly fighting, but competing in different events, like obstacle courses, where different strategies can be used. The other is that they use unconventional means - at one point they chop down one obstacle and build a ramp so their shorter/less strong teammates can get over the climbing wall, which isn’t actually against the rules.

So given the right events, and with enough cheating, creativity and/or teamwork, they could pull it off. All the top tier talents like flight and super strength get sent to Savior and Prestige, which means that Speck has the most variety, even though the talents themselves aren’t as strong.

You know,so far eveyones been jumping on the idea of your mom or one of your classmates getting kidnapped. But what about little Jacob?I’m sure the Manipulator knows about your relationship with him.And as for the Wyvern, what better way to get your villanous name out there than by kidnapping an innocent child? (it also helps that you’re basically his archenemy).

What makes this even better,is if you told Jacob your secret in the first game, the villan could force Jacob to tell them.Obviously for the Manipulator, that won’t do much, since she already knows. But for the Wyvern, this would be a very, very interesting piece of information.

I think you’re underestimating Speck too much. We have Mob who will become the Hulk due to the fact that this is a competition with an insane number of people in it and the crowd. At that point his more than a Mob his a freaking Blitzkrieg.

Dirty Girl has the potential to make different kinds of smoke/gas. From extremely flammable gas, knockout gas, tear gas, nerve gas, and maybe even liquid nIilitrogen gas for all we know.

Shine who has power over heat AND light. I think you’ve read enough comics to know what that can do.

Tress, this might seem crazy (but she has the determination to pull it off) but we have yet to see what her hair can do if she were to train it like a muscle and use speed with skill instead of pure power.

Then there is our MC who will soon become either a Zenith(with duel powers), Tactician(Basically a less rich Batman), or a walking tank with gas weapons.

Then their is Crook who is already making great progress with his portals and isn’t as dumb as some would think.

Stoic nuff said there.

We have ourselves here the Super Hero equivalent of The Magnificent Seven. The entire school just needs to put in the necessary intense training, creative thinking, and team work needed to improve. That, and get past their current personal issues which will not only make these characters just interesting as heroes but as people to.

It’s just as @Sashira said we just gotta fight smarter not just harder.
Besides,it’s not about just winning; it’s about proving to the world that Speck isn’t for rejects. Just people who are willing to put in the extra work.

Also the teachers wouldn’t compete. Just the students will compete because it’s a good way to prove themselves while gaining experience. Plus wouldn’t it be cool to show Stunner how much we’ve changed?

I’m wondering what would people at speck think about our dad if/when they find out ? I imagine our popularity would go way down and we would probably be mocked

Well i doubt the students of Speck would Mock us(depending on how strong your bond is) since they are often pretty good people. Especially Dirty Girl, she’ll probably just think that adds to your charm.

Can you tell me more about this??

What confession are you referring to? I thought I had the “romantic Stunner talk option” triggered by having a stunner_status of either “dating” or “love”, and that status should have been triggered in the questionnaire section.

When selecting

hence

After getting mushy, he then says

even if you chose to “unmask yourself and reveal your name to the Speck Seven”.

When selecting

only this screen is received.

Hmmm that second part is definitely a bug, but the bug could be located in the questionnaire section. I’ll check it out!

And the first part, well remember that if you unmask at the end of Part 1, only the “Speck Seven” are left: you, Crook, DG, Tress, Mob, Stoic and Wombat. Stunner (and Uni) had already left, at least that’s how I remember writing it. I might review that section to make sure it reads that way.

Thanks for the catch!!

O, that was my initial impression, except in a previous update I can recall Stunner admitting that seeing my face was quite the stimulating experience for him–unless this was revamped, or tweaked specifically for the love path alone…

I’ll have to look into the “stimulating” part!
