Community College Hero: Knowledge is Power (old WIP thread, now closed)

Mara? Is that you hacking into @ParrotWatcher 's account? :astonished:

An ill child presents a moral quandary and the further you can take it, the stronger the quandary will be.

The only quarandry I have with Jacob is: why the game keep trying to make me care about Jacob?
His scene were the weakest point in the first game IMO.

The 2 obligatory scenes;I can definitely see why someone would think they’re weak.

However, the third scene in which Jacob hints at having suicidal thoughts and you can tell him about your father’s villanous past was pretty good,in my opinion.

No, that’s the author side of me speaking, rather than the reader side of me. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: If he was just some disadvantaged child we found ourself making friends with, then sure, he could survive. His illness however, presents a Chekhov’s gun: if he hasn’t died at the end, why was he ill at the beginning?

Jacob will die.

I’m sorry, but it’s true.As much as I want to heal him and have him be my sidekick, that simply isn’t the case.

If it’s not from the D12 or Wyvern,it’s going to be from the disease.

I never said he won’t die; just not “next” or anytime “soon”.

The author-side of myself has been dealing with narcissism for the past two hours… so my perception might be somewhat influenced by that at this point in time.

Mob DID say he came here to track down and beat up bad guys. I wouldn’t be surprised if he starts throwing hands when he needs to.

I…I don’t recall him saying this.

During the lunch scene I believe he will say that he came to the school for the same reason the MC says when he asked why do you want to be a hero, and the mc answers to track down and beat up villains. Or is this the same for all choice🤔

It’s the same for all choices.

Is that so? Well I still think he would be able to throw hands. Did he raise his hand for downfall? :thinking:I think that kid has heart. Like Rocky.

He better.

I like him and all,but if he’s unwilling to hurt anyone then he’s seriously limiting his options.

And with his power,he’d hit like a truck if the area was populated.[quote=“Evillain, post:2303, topic:12179”]
Did he raise his hand for downfall?

Nope. The students we know who raised their hands were Crook,DG and Stunner.

I remember not being surprised when finding out he would hurt someone, giving his power and all. I think he just lacks confidence and skills.

No? He didn’t? Then everything I know is a lie.

All I will say is that is seems very unlikely that everyone will emerge unscathed because Part 2 WILL include the Manipulator’s return (that payoff is needed to make Part 2 a full arc).

I don’t think she, or the Dozen, would seem all that intimidating if the scene ends with her defeat and all the Ewoks…I mean Speck students…all cheering and "Yetah"ing and everything. :bear: Things have to get worse before they get better.

Oh and we accepted an offer on our house yesterday! It’s been a hectic weekend. We’re house-hunting today. :house::gun:

I’d rather see MC getting badly wounded then getting cyborg parts.

And there is nothing like hunting houses like our ancestors :+1:

Ok , I think we can think of what made Origami’s death work.
For me her death was important from a narrative and a thematic perspective.

-The community of Speck feared and wasn’t sure about the school. The fact that Origami was willing to die to save the childrem make them realise that the heroes really cared about the community, that the blame was on the villains and not the heroes that might be a risk for the city, but a necessary step in order to fight for justice. Therefore heroes are accepted again and we can get back to normal…Yay!

-It served as a fuel for character development. Make the group more united, some characters realised the importance of what they were doing and why. Crook now has an arc in wich he has to deal with Origami’s death, and our MC has a purpose… Yay!

-Origami was basically an embodiment of goodness and innocence, she couldn’t survive in this dark and twisted world, therefore her death was a symbol of the tone shift. (That’s also why i think that Jacob is going to reinforce that idea). Origami was simply the best option to kill in part 1.

If we want to know what character is going to die next, we need to answer two questions:

  • How would it affect the story?

  • Why should we care?

Well I can agree with that, he might not die in the next issues.

But yeah, that kid is dead. In fact, that kid is SO dead that you could run over a cat with your car and then apologize to his owner saying “look I know that your cat looks dead, but at least he’s not as dead as Jacob is in the next chapters of CCH”.

How can you be so messed up? X-D

Those are some good questions. As it stands now I don’t think there are any characters left who can fill the quota Origami did. At this point we would mostly just be doing it to keep tension, maybe the MC has to kill for the first time,or for just shits and giggles.
