Community College Hero: Knowledge is Power (old WIP thread, now closed)

Not that relevant but relevant enough.

Not sure I can trust Mob not to wimp out on hurting people and as for C-wombs… guy got sent care packages WITH HIS NAME ON THEM so no I don’t trust him either I only trust team Hook and Crook which is my Detective, Brooding, Retribution seeking MC, Crook, the wonderful DG and hopefully in the future Stoic when she realises the potential of her powers for anti-heroism.

I must say, that is an epic team name.

To be fair we have yet to see him in a fight since winter break so we can’t say for sure he will wimp out. With the death of his best friend (at that school) Origami, I doubt his the same guy we knew back then. I wouldn’t be suprised that his frustrated with himself about the fact his BF came to the guy with no super powers for help but kept him in the dark. All because of his soft nature. That might’ve been the push he needed to go from a simple Mob to a full on Blitzkrieg.

As for the package thing, that’s more his parent’s fault thanCW’s. I mean, at least CW took the time to train during break(as proven but his . . .mishap with Hedonist ) and has great potential. He controls one of tye four fundamental forces of the universe after all

So I think we can all agree that Tress has got to go.

Ugh I rather would love to get rid of Crook. His drunk ass got us seriously in trouble. I really wanted the option to beat some sense into him.

I don’t really see it like that.

In my eyes,Crook is the only student with enough balls to actually do some real heroing (with a couple of other students as well).

However, while I don’t agree with you,I can definitely see where you’re coming from.Crook may be experienced, but he’s still not logical enough to show up on the job sober.Couple that with his recklessness, and he could get in serious trouble.

No, just improve as a leader and not worry so much about what other people think of her.

Showing up drunk is not illogical it’s fucking stupid (and in my opinion reason enough to throw him out of the team until he gets his shit together). And paired with his recklessness it makes him a high maintenance team member and as my MC isn’t really friends with him/is not that sure how much they can build on him, they are not sure if he is worth the risk.

Yeah. Tress might be making poor decisions, but at least she’s trying. Crook needs to get his act together, more than anyone else on the team.

Isn’t stupid and illogical the same thing?

Not necessarily–people can make decisions that are illogical without being strictly bad. Like, transferring to a more expensive school because they have a program you like better. It makes more logical sense to stay at the cheaper college but that doesn’t make it a bad call to go somewhere you’re happier.

Crook though, is acting completely erratically–drunkenly assaulting people isn’t at all justifiable. Even if he thought they knew something, he isn’t exactly a skilled interrogator. The person he’s stabbing could’ve legitimately not known anything, or could’ve just lied and said whatever he thought Crook wanted to hear.

Thanks, that was very informative

This was certainly interesting.

Overall,I’d say that Crook is an experienced hero who could definitely contribute a lot to the team, but needs to get his shit together first before he does something that’ll completely screw him over.

I just realized something, we have 16 students left at the school right?

Do we know what experience Crook has past just being older than the other students? He’s good with his throwing knives, but he doesn’t strike me as a character with much potential as a hero. Even looking at Dirty Girl, during the night of lawlessness the Wyvern puts on, she takes some pleasure at being “the voice of reason” when talking to the drug addicts stealing a television, and since she’s just a nineteen year old kid acting out it isn’t a stretch to believe she could mature into somebody who’s actually there to help the people on the streets who otherwise might just be persecuted as redemptionless villains–people stealing out of desperation, addicts who could recover with the right help, people who are doing bad things because they’ve fallen on hard times and don’t have many other options, or don’t think they do.

Crook though, we know he has a wife and at least one child (don’t remember if he says kid or kids). I’ll admit that he’s in a better position to succeed as a big time hero than the MC just because he has powers, but the MC isn’t off at a school with a family to support. I think he’s reacting so strongly to Origami because she reminded him of his own kid(s), but if he was so hurt by it why isn’t he now staying at home and being with them? He could do a world more good as a parent getting a paying job and bring there to take care of his child. Instead he’s jumping people in an alley because he thinks they’re part of a gang–and he’s drunk, watching from a roof. He isn’t making sure they’re the right people, he’s half guessing. Whether or not they are part of the gang is irrelevant at that point. It just seems to me that he isn’t interested in much at the school past feeling like he’s being cool.

Epic name for an epic team I also include Jacob for when he gets Wolverine style healing factor that heals his condition and turns him into Zombie Kid (the alternative is just too sad for me to bear)

@HomingPidgeon Well,in Crook’s defense,he was number one on Eric’s list of most useful superheroes in a fight.

Honestly, who knows what’ll happen to Crook.Maybe he’ll get his act together and start being smarter and less brutal.Maybe he’ll keep spiraling down into madness until he eventually does something that he regrets.

One thing I noted, however,is that it’s kind of ironic how Crook is saying that he’s doing all of this for Origami, yet she’d probably be mortified if she knew of the stuff Crook was doing.

If DG dies I’m rage-quitting or turning full on Punisher
