Community College Hero: Knowledge is Power (old WIP thread, now closed)

I am very inclined to saying I love the idea of being the punching bag! It’s like your building up rage to knock out everyone like a baws v: Do people still use that? “like a baws”? :stuck_out_tongue:

Would make fighting the Hedonist super easy though :smirk:

Well, the power would be little in the beggining, so at least it wouldn’t create that unbalance so soon. And, I mean, the MC could think it didn’t work because its results wouldn’t be immediate :open_mouth:

I am hesitant to endorse this, despite the possibilities. If there were a z-powered minimum base-line, I’d feel better but I still feel it is the anti-power knee-jerk reaction at play.

You’re going to have internal bleeding and brain hemorrhaging in order to compete at the same level as the higher tiered villains?

No? Then why not self-abuse yourself to keep your power set high?

Again, let’s not destroy the positives in order to avoid other IP power-sets or those that don’t want to feel like the same over-used Marvel character.

How about something like this. Since we were are trying to focus on power and speed I figured we keep it fun while still simple. Basically since you were bombarded with Z energy when you were just a fetus there must be a lot of power stored up inside you.Unfortunatly there is too much power and you can’t manipulate it as easily as Tress can control her hair. So when ever you try to use your powers crazy energy bursts occur. Since your power is just too erratic to do anything that requires a lot of complex control the best way is to use it in a fight is to have it propel yourself from one spot to another by sending energy through your feet, palms, and maybe even other body parts(Whoosh) and attacking by knocking villians out with explosive punchs(Pow) thanks to the short but strong power boost to the musles in your body. Though this will be a great offensive skill it will come with downsides. The more shock waves you realise the more the body part you fire the energy out from will be strained. Your Ouch meter will start taking damage the more u keep fighting after already going past your limit.
That’s all I have so far though. Any good?

That’s genius, not to mention the fact that electricity can be used to boost musle growth, reaction speed, and thinking speed. Well done :smirk:

What I find weird is popularity doesn’t mean anything really is reduce charisma to a mere dump stat put there. Why not give a small boost to popular people like obtain easier information or normal people being nicer. Just small flavor touch but could add a lot to the bare minimum role playing options about morality and almost everything.

Another pro to the punching bag power, it could be a really good way to scale the MC’s power to whoever they’re fighting–so along with gear upgrades, getting better at harnessing their abilities, more refined fighting styles and the like, the MC’s power level would be somewhat dependent on whoever they’re fighting, letting them transition smoothly from “sparring with classmates without inadvertently killing anyone” to “taking on card carrying supervillains”. You could make “self-adjustments to how much power you have access to based on how much damage you are or aren’t taking” a challenge that the MC has to overcome to get really good at using their abilities, too.

And the fact that you need to take hits is an easy workaround I think–have your body take less damage since the energy is charging you up, like a certain extent of self healing or invulnerability? Something along those lines?

You do raise a good point. It sounds cool on paper but at the sane time it’s not exactly the most efficient or dependable power

When you think about it,this power twist has the potential to become hideously OP.

Let’s just go ahead and say that,in the near future,you team up with someone who has healing powers.You two are currently teaming up in a fight with a powerful villan.

You act as a tank,protecting the healer and getting powerful the more damage you get.If you have too much damage on you,the healer heals you.From there on,its rinse and repeat:get damage,become stronger,healer heals you and damage goes away.

Basically,if you play your cards right,you’ll be invincible.Too bad none of the characters have a healing power.

What are you gonna if the heal gets taken down or out?

Like I said,it has POTENTIAL to be OP.You can still mess up horribly and have your butt handed to you on a silver platter.

Please no? Being leader doesn’t fit my character in any way. Let them be Tress’ second in command.

Which do you guys prefer for the Zenith Route. Just curious

@Lux_Inferni I’m really into the whole electrical enhanced speed intertwined with the punching bag twist.Maybe the more damage you receive, the more electricity you generate.This newfound electricity could not only be used for bursts of speeds,but could also be transferred to the electrified bo staff,making it even more deadly.

One question I have about this:Does this mean you can absorb electric attacks?Let’s say the Wyvern shoots his electric rifle at you.Does the electricity damage you or do you absorb it?

I feel the same way (my character really has no interest in being leader) but the way the choice was written made it sound to me like if you went that route you automatically wanted to be leader? It’s been a while since I took that option though, so I might be misremembering

@The_Otaku_Dragon_Sla @AAO

I like the sound of electricity based powers, they aren’t on the dream power list and they aren’t traditional. Plus it could be used in a way similar to healing, speeding up tissue repair and cell regeneration.

And a grounding rod if necessary.

I was assuming we’d absorb it, but I don’t see why it couldn’t be both as long as you heal faster than you can fry.

Side note: Surely we’d be the most electrifying superhero in Speck history? :stuck_out_tongue:

DID YOU ACTUALLY JUST :V

I’m proud of you.

However,I think I found a problem:Would electric manipulation somehow intertwine with the punching bag twist without making the MC too OP? Or will we have to choose one over the other?

I’m sure you could make both of them work together,but it would take quite the skill in writing.

That is a problem. I don’t think we should be able to electrocute anybody or have the ability to manipulate electricity outside of our bodies. Just keep the manipulation on a physiological level?

Maybe other forms of energy could be useful here?

I think getting punched would produce less energy than grabbing on to an electrified bo staff or getting zapped with a glorified taser. Adding onto that we generate our own electricity and food and fat are converted into energy which could then be converted into biochemical electricity. This would make a good double-edged sword and possibly still produce less than tasing yourself. Then you have the possible problem of taking in too much electricity (thinking of possible thermal energy) and suffering a heat stroke.

@lutece I DID AND I REGRET NOTHING
