Another one…Quickie and anyone willing to stand still for more than 3 seconds.
DG seemed awfully interested in that…
My goal is to have Crook and DG each come up with about a half dozen nicknames for Quickie by the end of Part 2. It can be “a thing” like Wombat never getting to explain the origin of his name in Part 1.
I think they each did one in the last update.
That’s not fair. His name is Quickie, in DG’s words, what could she call him that would be worse?
So here’s a world-building question that super-interests me: how does society deal with threatening Zeniths, beyond working with friendly Zs?
I imagine that MegaCat and the Smarts are a boon, but I imagine there are plenty of ideas floating around the DoD for dealing with Zeniths (especially high-powered ones) through non-powered military force.
How closely do Prestige and Savior work with the Government? I think it’d be interesting to consider details on how Zeniths are incorporated and co-opted by the existing power structure - sure there are lots who are acculturated and value normal society, but the mere existence of the Diabolical Dozen and the Siege of Saint Louis shows that Zeniths are, indeed, a threat.
I’m imagining DARPA working on ways to counter threatening Zeniths without having to resort to NBC weapons, while military volunteers are surreptitiously inducted into black programs to be bombarded by Zenith radiation or something.
What happens when the Smarts, or MegaCat, let their egos get away from themselves?
Haha didn’t DG say that about someone in Part 1??
Shine, if I recall correctly
See DG’s presence justifies me writing crappy character names because they give her low-hanging fruit.
Sadly,it seems that Friendzone shall not get a significant other.
I wonder why…
Question remains: have we ever seen Dad and Wyvern at the same place at the same time?
BIG SPOILER
What happens? Zenith War happens
I thought that was when some idiot from Nebraska broke into one of their secure locations in order to get a powerup for themselves?
Direct response to Big Spoiler, does this tragically dash my hopes for a Booksmart romance?
I was referring to her question during training. “who is willing to seriously injure your classmates if doing so will help you survive?”. She taught them selfishness in battle. Being able to work as a team (which i admit she does seem to train) is not everything when being in fight together. To be an effective unit, soldiers need to trust eachother that teammates have their backs. Not questioning whether your teammate would do something to harm you only for their personall gain. During school training, your classmates are your team.
That’s why i said that she promotes distrust and selfishness in team.
About trying to teach students that not all the fights they will have in the future will be fair - that’s kinda unnecessary of her to do. They are not kids from elementary school, but adult students, that enter a school that basically trains them to be a sort of police/military force; i think they realise that pretty obviously. So i think that breaking Tress arm was rather pointless. Students already knew to use brutal force and that this is a serious bussiness. And the game seems to confirm that, as we dont see necessarily any change with anyone after that incident, other than discontent with her actions. As far as i remember.
Her being brutal and teaching to toughen up, and to work in teams, at first glance look like a military training. But she also encourages injuring teammates for personal gain, and seriously injures one herself. No military training i know of, consists of that. Brutal and harsh training doesnt include deliberately seriously harming trainees.
Response to Big Spoiler:Well then, let the ass whooping commence.
Warning, the following comment is going to sound harsh and maybe even hurtful to some people and i’m sorry.
The class she is teaching is about training to teach students how to win their fights. In order to do this they need to be hard on each other because they can only depend on each other when it’s gets real. After sparring with each other almost daily they can understand each other and know that they can depend on each other. As the old saying goes, “As iron sharpens iron, one man sharpens another”. DF doesn’t want them to kill each but improve each other so they can go take down any threat together.
To be completely honest yes it was definitely needed. A lot of students here weren’t taking this school seriously enough. Mob thinks he can become a hero just by only protecting people but he clearly doesn’t want to actually get in fights or hurt anyone. Which isn’t realistic.
Quickie here thinks only having 3 seconds of super speed is enough instead of working on increasing his time limit.
Dirty Girl, thinks she can do great at this school without first dealing with her drug problem. Then during her time here she is calling people nerds in the middle of class, going off to random parties, and getting arrested.
Don’t even get me started on side characters like Uni.
To make matters worse the only people here that REALLY knew how to fight without their powers before coming to this school are Crook, and the Mc. You would think a few of them would take self defense classes before trying to become heroes.
Lastly, this event gave Tress and the MC(maybe even Stunner) more motivation to want to improve themselves, and personally I think that’s a good thing.
That’s the thing though. No matter how we look at it(and this is gonna sound really f***ed up) they aren’t completly human anymore in terms of biology. We can’t hold them to the same standards of normal humans when it comes to this stuff. If the big heroes die, someone has to take their place or help continue the fight, and DF just wants us to be ready for the day when the world pushs us. So that we have the strength to push back.
Iron sharpens iron dude, iron sharpens iron.
Response to big spoiler: I AM SO PUMPED NOW
I actually never saw DF in that way… I mean, I never held a grudge against her, but she wasn’t a “good teacher” either, but now I see where you’re getting… ._.
Would also like to add that she helped Stoic take things seriously when she endangered Origami and forced Stoic to actually do something
Almost forgot about that. Man i’m glad Stoic stepped up to the plate
Again, like i said, she teaches teamwork, not trusting eachother. After sparring daily they know they can trust other person’s abilities, not that that other person will do everything to keep them alive. One of the most important parts of military training is bonding teammates. Not only to train them to work together. And downfall does not teach that, and even by that comment, she discourages that. They can understand eachother in a fight, but they do not know they can depend on eachother solely by her teachings.
That depends on the aspirations of specific students. Most of them have no chance of “playing in the big league” and they realise that. For minor help on low level crimes, their attitude is enough. The ones who really want to be the high level force, they already know that this is a serious bussines and didn’t needed the reminder.
How? Is this mentioned in the game? For me personally i don’t see this event as a more motivation to improve yourself. Tress, MC, Stunner, they already got high motivation to improove themselves and play in the big league. Nothing in that event added to it.
I disagree on that. They still are the same humans like others. Their abilities are nothing more than a fancy gear could achieve. In regard to highest grade heroes it may be different, but most of the students will never achieve that level. Their strength lies in numbers and teamwork. They are nothing more than a military/police force. If one of them fall down, other must take their place. If one of the big heroes die, none of the Speck students would be able to take their place alone. Only as a group. So as a group we must be the best possible machine working together. And her teachings makes us a good machine, but not the best. In that she fails to prepare us to the best possible way.
