In all honesty, I personally liked the Hedonist as a character but as I said earlier I want to have an option to encourage his attraction the the protagonist and change his ways but also an option to completely annihilate his personal feelings and hit his heart in a way that would actually cause him emotional pain.
For me I think the disparity in feeling regarding him has to do with how there is an option to consent completely to his behavior and there’s an option to be the one to hit on him during the test as well as the option for him to try and convince you to do it.
Though now I’m moving on to Captain California. I like characters who pretend to be super chill and laidback and comedic and are actually the opposite of that.
Also, I am in love with McCormick and she and I are going to have a beautiful super lawyer life together.
Now that I think about it why doesn’t the Hedonist get fired? Is it because the dean thinks they can “fix” his problem? Or they have that much of a shortage on professors?
Tolly states that she can’t afford to lose that many professors since at this point Downfall and Nil are already gone, and if she got rid of Hedonist, she’d only have my darling McCormick.
But McCormick’s all anyone needs <3
McCormick is the only sane professor there. I was happy to have her teachings.
I wonder if she’ll become a RO later on xD
I hope so. I want her to show me all about hero law.
@HornHeadFan please let me romance McCormick. McCormick is McCutie.
We all need a bit of a McLovin’ from McCormick.
I’ll add her to the list of “possibles” including Captain California, Hedonist, and Stoic. Some players might also be interested in the new Media Relations professor in Part 2. I’ll have to be very conservative with adding ROs though, because I simply can’t “drop” any of the existing ones, so adding more = gives me more grey hairs while trying to code social scenes, especially since most of the characters share the same environment. I underestimated how complicated it would be with all the characters sharing the same space. Plus there’s the question of when/if Stunner and/or Uni will return.
Stoic as a relationship sounds so amusing if you choose a Brooder hero.
First date is just you two sat in deathly silence for three hours…
Yaaas I want Stoic as a RO. It’s gonna be so satisfaying when you’re both dating and she shows her emotions only to you.
So, people want Hedonist as a RO too? I thought it was already established that he’s an asshole XD
But seriously he’s so douchey I bet he’s even called Chad.
Fuck Chad.
Why do I find the name Chad funny when I say it out loud.
Hopefully every romance in part 2 will have their own unique trait which makes them enjoyable, but I also hope they have an ongoing issue. Perfect romance is overrated
Finally, my tastes are being catered to!
Suck it, Bioware, for not letting me romance Joker or Varric!
If it gets too much though I do understand if you are unable to deliver on all of them. Buuuuut it’s cool that you’re even trying.
I agree with the perfect romance, I mean everybody has their flaws, but I don’t know how I would feel about going out with a sex offender xD
And I think that “Chad” sounds funny 'cause it has such a douchey ring to it.
But seriously, naming your kid Chad and expecting them to not be assholes is like naming your kid this:

And expecting them to not be cashiers.
I second that. You don’t have to take on every suggestion or desire, but it’s wonderful that you’re trying.
@Talkingtaco Keith is pretty bad too, rolls off my tongue so horribly (I really hope your name isn’t Keith now.)
But yeah, imperfections in the romance would make it more satisfying in my opinion, feels like I’m working to keep the romance going and earning it too.
Stoic #1
Only one I’d like to Romance.
I thought Origami for a bit then well… if you completed the game you know. And if you learned her secret you REALLY know.
No chance for Downfall? She was one of my favorite characters.
I dun think we should add more than is needed. I imagine the story is quite large with all the existing variables. BUT later Date DLC or updates after the story is solid would be nice for the whole expanded RO’s.
All this Tress photo discussion makes me wanna tease with some artz. BUT I think I’ll hold off on that.
As per Hedonist, I don’t mind him really. Sure he’s a little posh but one should expect that from someone with ‘that’ name. His name’s meaning look it up,. he’s proving it true. And as creepy as it seems he’s not pressuring anyone, if a female character was doing the same I don’t imagine half as many people being upset.
PS:
Hedonism is a school of thought that argues that pleasure is the primary or most important intrinsic good.[1] In very simple terms, a hedonist strives to maximize net pleasure (pleasure minus pain).
Ethical hedonism is the idea that all people have the right to do everything in their power to achieve the greatest amount of pleasure possible to them, assuming that their actions do not infringe on the equal rights of others. It is also the idea that every person’s pleasure should far surpass their amount of pain. Ethical hedonism is said to have been started by Aristippus of Cyrene, a student of Socrates. He held the idea that pleasure is the highest good
I disagree with you completely.
It may look that way if you play a character that is actively encouraging him and flirting with him. If you play that way you don’t really see much of his condemning behaviour and like @RedRoses mentioned most people that like or don’t mind him are the ones that made a playthrough consenting and enouraginginteractions with him.
But when you will play as a character that is not into him and do not encourage his flirtatious behaviour, then a player can see the much darker side of Hedonist. And then it is clear that he is a sexual offender and abuser, and not just someone who believes strongly in hedonists perspective of life.
The key differences that make him sexual offender are first the fact that he is a professor. He is in a position of power over his students . Everything he does is to some degree a pressure on them. If they want to continue their studies they feel a pressure to not anger him, to please him by giving correct answers. They know that as their teacher he holds the power to fail or pass them, and fighting with him can jeopardize their education. Even if they’ll be in the right and should oppose him, the pressure to not risk it is still there. Just the fact that in game, when you refuse him, he drops the issue, doesn’t mean a student wouldn’t feel a pressure to give in to him, because of his position of power, not knowing beforehand of consequences. That fact is one of the main reasons why relationships between students/teacher, or bosses/employees are in the very least discouraged or banned and one of the basis of what sexual harrasment in workplace is.
So your statement that “he’s not pressuring anyone” is very misled and can be actually hurtfull if many people would think that way.
Second thing that decide he is not just a hedonist, is that he tells many of his students that they will get better grade if they’ll give him sexual pleasure. Just that. just the fact that he said it is incriminating him as sexual offender and it is harrasment. Yes, even if player can refuse and there will be no consequencs of the refusal later. First of all, MC do not know what the consequences of refusal can be, so they do feel some degree of pressure to agree to it, maybe being afraid of angering him. “is it worth it to refuse? what if he gets angry? what if he will hold a grudge against me and give me worse grades? maybe better just go with it?” etc.
Next is the fact that it creates unfair disadvantage over students who don’t want to get in sexual relations with him. It’s not that he asks tat only MC, trying to pursue some relationship or strengthening a bond between them. He asks that most of his students (if not all). Not wanting to have sex with someone you just don’t fancy cannot be the factor of receiving worse grade/being in disadvantage compared to other students. Hedonist do not just engage in intimate relations with students, he made it a transaction. “You’ll pleasure me, then i’ll give you better grade” He basically asks MC (and others) to prostitute themselves to him. If your boss at work would come to you and asked how much for sex with them, wouldn’t you feel upset and think it’s a sexual harrasment?
In a playthrough where you just don’t fancy him, Hedonist comes to you, trying to coerce you into having sex with him, and gives you proposition of buying sex from you. He may be a perfect gentleman if you refuse and drop the issue completely, but the sole fact that he made a move and made that proposition is incriminating him as abuser and sexual offender.
I would even say that it stands in oposition to what hedonism is. “assuming that their actions do not infringe on the equal rights of others” - Hedonist does not seem to care about that part. Those are his students. A people who are dependant on him. As a person in position of power over them, he is also in a position of power in potential sexual relationships with them. Giving in to his advances may be infrigment on some, who wouldn’t really want to , but do engage with him giving in to pressure or just wanting better grade. They provide a pleasure to him, so he use his power to help them. That is not a relationship of “mutual respect” like he tries to claim later as an “explanation” of his actions.
Maybe if he wouldn’t came up with the offer of better grades for sex and in the contrary, insist that he will not treat anyone different because of that, maybe then it would be debatable if he really tries to bond with students and create mutual respect and trust. But as of now, his actions do the very opposite, and suggest only selfish need from him, no matter what he tries to convince himself.
In the end Hedonist is a sexual offender who abuses his power. Does he thinks that he is just pursuing hedonists doctrine indulging in pleasure in life and wants others to do the same? Probably. That may be what he aims to be and think of himself, but that is not who he is now, based on his actions we may see. His advance can be uncomfortable and sexually offensive and abusive to his targets, not just “he is a hedonist and others are just uptight and dont understand his way of life”.
And certainly if a female character would ask her students to prostitute themseles to her and abuse her postition of power for intimate relations, the response would be the same.
Wow, that post came out longer than expected, sorry for the wall of text,
Why am I so attached to tress, it’s my 3rd play-through and I keep romancing her, why am I obsessed with her?
I am going to stop tryin to romance her, but the only reason is because I got a full geared dec with tresses romance really high, but it is going to be super hard…
