@saltywizard The Lady Ash theory is the weakest by far. Who knows. By the way, you can’t choose your superpower as it was already chosen for you. Power nullification. Which makes Captain Powerless even more annoying. Who the hell she thinks she is anyway? We might not have powers, but we are not at the rock bottom. I was annoyed when we couldn’t call her out and make her stop. Gonna start calling her Captain Cocaine to see if she likes it.
@technote Indeed. Tolly manipulates students with a fake persona. The cringy, heart of gold mother figure. She also has her secrets. I wonder what McCormick is doing? Will she return?
I’m rooting for Captain California to show up, even in a cameo. He is by far my favourite character in the books. DG and Crook are the ones I hate the most.
It reminds me when I mentioned I date tress to Mom, she was like: “she seems fine I guess”, acting dissapointed.
And when you say to Lady Ash you’re the leader her first reaction is to look at Tress and say: “I thought you were the leader” or something along those lines. Like she wanted to kill her.
@Redey3 I think the reason why she says that is because she assumes that a Zenith would be the leader of a group of Zeniths, not a non Zenith. I think that’s also why she destroys the MC’s equipment instead of out right killing the MC, what kind of message would that send if the leader of the Dozen killed a Non Zenith person?
And the MC’s moms reacts to her in different ways, depends on how the mom is. Cause if shes strict and pushes the MC to do their best, then she approves of Tress and disapproves of DG
@redey3 If i remember right, all 3 personalities react differently to your romance. And when she said she thought Tress was the leader, I think she was just surprised a non-Zenith would be the leader of a team, let alone be the one who took down the Manipulator.
@technote I’m skeptical regarding this. The Dozen seem to have little regard to human lives, like when they leveled St. Louis. She killed your father with 12 stabs because he gave the police information. If anything, a non Zenith taking down the Manipulator would be embarrassing enough to brutalize them at once. The thing is, she doesn’t do that when she has the chance. Why?
And about DG, she started with the name calling. She should clean up her own mess of a life before taking shots at anyone. A coping mechanism perhaps, but a rather annoying one. I hope in CCH3 @eric_moser we can call her out regarding her shitty behavior. Tell her and Crook to take a hike.
@thestrangemonkey I think one thing is clear, different readers personalities associate with characters personalities different ways. I take DG and Crook to be okay and can’t stand Tress, Stoic, and a number of others that I think are fake personalities. Certainly Tress is that way, you treat her as a friend and she thinks you sold out her pictures. Most of my friends joke around with each other with name calling etc. I find these two to be relatable, although I say no to drugs and never drink that heavily anymore. I mostly always aim for the joker type character in the story, which is good for making enemies with everyone but DG and Crook by default. I just don’t take them as serious.
Then again, I always said if I had super powers I would most certainly be a villain. Not that I would go around causing misery, I just wouldn’t care about anything other then my own agenda.
@Sealawyer Indeed, far from me to try to dictate how others play the game. I understand that characters like DG and Crook are necessary for the game, as a diversity of personalities and opinions makes the world feel more alive.
But they still annoy me to no end. In the middle of an attack by Dr. Shock, DG can’t help but drag her feet in a life or death situation, let alone having the gall to say you are trying to show off by staying in sync with Stunner.
I just wished we had more opportunities to hit back instead of taking it like an idiot. I always aim to be the Traditionalist, so characters who can’t help but be jackasses are specially irritating.
If I had superpowers, I would be a mercenary. Why be a villain and be chased by police, when I can defend the innocent and do the work the government can’t, for a healthy fee of course. Doing the right thing and living with a clear conscience, all the while living in a penthouse in Manhattan with a full bank account.
Oh, yeah I know, just saying that they always ask what superpower the MC has always wished having, so I thought it might be nice to finally get to have it at some point. I don’t know if it’s a good idea considering the major upgrade they already got though.
@saltywizard I think Mr. Moser added the dream superpower as a variable for flavor. I don’t really remember. He said power nullifying was more than enough for the MC.
@thestrangemonkey Oh, ok, well that’s fair. Personally, all I’d want from a superpower is for it to look cool, and that one certainly does, so that’s pretty nice.
True they dont seem to have regard for human life, but that’s because in those instances they’re trying to show a display of their power. When it came the the attack on Speck it was for them to get rid of the Manipulator and to also show that they keep to their word, they want Speck gone and anyone defending it will die, hence how Synergy/Mob almost gets eaten. I feel like the moment Lady Ash questioned who’s the leader, if either Tress or Wombat stepped forward then Lady Ash had/has no issue killing either of them because they’re Zeniths, and by killing a Zenith, Lady Ash is able to send her message clearly to the other Zenith’s of Speck. But once the MC steps forward, someone with no Zenith powers, then what message would their death send? If anything it would embolden the students of Speck seeing someone who is a non Zenith die for them. Lady Ash had to make sure that by destroying the MC’s “toys” which subsequently means the MC is literally burning alive also, that she’s still sending her message loud and clear to everyone. That’s why instead of the Speck students rushing out to save you, they hesitate in fear. Which is what the Dozen were trying to show us, to fear them.
@thestrangemonkey I assume it would nullify the “fear aura” thing, but don’t you think being able to make some cool-looking anti energy thing with your hands is already good enough?
@technote@SaltyWizard Well, Monstrosity X has a giant mouth full of teeth and Low Life is a giant mass of pure muscle. I would like to see how we would nullify a bite or a punch to the face from a massive gorilla.
This is by design I think. All paths have strengths and weaknesses. Tactician your power is useless if you don’t have a team. Dr. Stench, caught without the armor? Dead weight. Zenith? Like i said above, try to nullify a 1 ton gorilla.
@rinzygreye Me and the boys discussed that a lot up in the thread. If the traitor is from the Speck 7 it’s Crook (80%) or Tress (20%). If not, then that opens the floodgates of theories ranging from Quickie, to Nill, to Origami and even the MC himself.
With respect to the “MC’s mom=Lady Ash” theory, I think the reason why Lady Ash doesn’t kill you is because she tried…but you survived.
Lady Ash does the same thing to you that she does to Wombat: she heats your armour and gear so you basically cook to death. Wombat simply had too much armour to take off, and he just wasn’t fast enough. I think that’s the only reason why wombat doesn’t survive and you do.
Although I can buy Crook as the traitor, I really don’t think DG as the traitor makes sense. Crook’s skillset in subterfuge and combat is far superior to DG’s, and (as much as I love her) I don’t think DG would make a good intelligence-gathering asset. She’s impulsive, brash and sometimes clumsy. DG almost overdoses during the Savior tour, for goodness sake! The Dozen would not rely on someone that…unreliable.
