I’m surprised not many people picked downfall, she’s like my super tough mentor or something. Then again not everyone plays the MC who’s willing to kill to protect the innocent. I was gunning for wyverns death all the way.
@technote The problem is that why would the Dozen choose a drug addict as a spy? Makes her completely unreliable. About the blackmail thing, in CCH1, she invited the MC to a club where it’s implied she uses substances (aka drugs) that night. Why would she fall for a Dozen blackmail when the MC knows her secret, her dealer knows her secret, hell anyone with a camera that night or two eyes knows it.
And by the way, Crook refuses to identify himself. Sketchy-o-meter screaming all the time when he appears.
I love Downfall, but she’s a soldier through and through. Everything she’s been trying to teach you throughout the past two games has been about focusing on the mission and not letting your feelings distract you. To me getting overly upset about her death would mean that you didn’t learn any of what she was trying to teach you.
Also I’m certain she know’s full well she could get killed at any time but she’ll definitely make damn sure she takes whoever did the deed along with her.
I wonder if the betrayal will be individual or collective? Are we the only ones surrounded by the Dozen or are others in danger/possibly dead?
Downfall can take members of the Dozen 1 on 1 but I think she’s dead if she’s paired against Blue Morpho or Lady Ash.
Also, where the hell is Megacat? Is Tolly going to reveal herself at the last moment and save us from the ambush?
heck, you make too many valid points. i guess DG couldnt be the traitor/ one of the traitors.
though i still stand strong with my theory that Tress might be a traitor also while Crook is for sure a traitor
Tress is definitely possible. Mr. Moser put to much emphasis on her behaviour to not be anything. The side eyes, trying to undercut you on the Speck 7 meeting, being angry that you caught the Wyvern. Or it may be a red herring. Perhaps the clues on Tress are obvious by design.
I agree on a lot of your theories, but I still don’t see Crook as the traitor. I am sticking with the MC being the unknowing traitor. My belief is the following:
-
Blue Morpho is Nil. He is affiliated with the Dozen sure, but maybe he is trying to strike out on his own? As the only level 10 not a leader of a group it makes sense. And of course he would try to sow doubt and start a fight between Savior and Prestige
-
Lady Ashe is the MC’s mom. Sorry, I don’t care about the electronic larynx. I have a friend that holds one to his throat when he wants to talk.
-
The traitor is the MC. They just don’t know it yet. If Lady Ashe is the MC’s mom, he makes the perfect patsy. She already doesn’t really care about family, she had her husband killed in jail. It sets up the ultimate final fight as well. Mom is the biggest cheerleader and wanted someone on the inside. She ask for regular reports on MC’s progress and gets upset when she doesn’t get them.

Crook is Origami’s father, I agree with that whole heartedly. I do not see the private family life playing out the same way. And not enough is revealed here to know everything. He indicates his wife left him, maybe she left him cause he encouraged his daughter to attend the school against his wife’s wishes, and when Origami died, it was the final straw for his wife.
I love this thread for the ability to bounce ideas off fellow fans and readers. Anyhow, that’s how I see it. So many plausible theories that I cannot wait to see where this all goes.
I agree with you. But I don’t think Crook has to be a part of the Dozen (at least not willingly). He has kids, so the Dozen could have threatened his kids lives to get him to cooperate with them.
I still say the real traitor is Origami … with this little disappearing stunt she pulls at the hospital, she puts the rest of her evil plans into action.

@Sealawyer Blue Morpho as Nill is a good theory. @technote and me discussed that Nill is potentially acting with his own agenda, for what purpose, we don’t know yet.
I also wonder what is Blue Morpho’s angle? A level 10+ Zenith, who if it manages to control it’s powers will make the grade system inadequate, is subservient to Lady Ash and the Dozen? Why? They could be the a leader on their own right. What’s the motive? I doubt Mr. Moser would write the Dozen as simply wanting to do evil for evil’s sake.
The MC’s mom is also strange. Hiding the facts, hypercontrolling. The electronic larynx was mentioned as a hole in this theory, but who knows.
And of all our teammates, only two refused to reveal their identities. Crook and Stoic. Even Tress, who is jealous and a likely suspect, revealed herself. No one buys his drunk and wasted act. He is dangerous. I also believe Origami is his daughter. His reaction was too strong for someone he barely made contact with.
@Bugreporter So far the theory on this thread goes as this for me:
- MC’s father is arrested after snitching on the Dozen.
- MC’s mom (Lady Ash) pays an inmate (Crook) to kill your father.
- Origami joins the Speck College and causes friction on his marriage so Crook joins the college as well to watch over her.
- Flash forward to the end of CCH1, Origami is killed by the Manipulator, which causes his marriage to end.
- Flash forward again to the end (?) of CCH3, you are traded by Crook to the Dozen on the promise of either rescuing Origami from the Zone or possibly bringing him the Manipulator.
Honestly I cant see the MC’s mom being Lady Ash. It just seems to not have enough evidence to be logical. Besides if the MC’s mom is Lady Ash then why would she inflict pain on her own child if the MC decides to step forward as the leader?
Also I didn’t even consider the idea that Nill might be BM in disguise! That’s actually a really good theory, plus it’s helps to understand why Nill was causing discourse around the students and the teachers in Speck
@Eiwynn I can actually see that being plausible, she acts cute towards everyone as a disguise and then uses the Manipulators attack on the hospital to disappear and start working on her evil plan. Though I doubt Mr. Moser might go down that path, it’s really an interesting theory
@Technote This was exactly why people suspect she’s Lady Ash. If Wombat claims to be the leader, she kills him. But the MC (her son), she only burns his toys.
A theory I have, not involving the MC or the Dozen but rather our unfeeling Stoic, is that when she gets her powers back that it’s going to manifest into something that will allow her to use it offensively. I believe that Stoic is supposed to represent the shield that never breaks and the spear that can break anything. Once her shields broke that’s when her Zenith abilities started going through a metamorphosis to turn from being a shield to becoming a spear(metaphorically of course)
That’s is true and it does bring up a lot more questions, but I personally still believe that Lady Ash and the MC’s mom has no correlation with one another and that Lady Ash spares the MC’s life because they’re the “normal one.”
What I don’t get is why Monstrosity fucking X and Lady Ash would appear at Speck at all? They could be in New York or St. Louis but want to be in Nebraska? What for? Truth is they wanted the Manipulator out at any cost and set her up.
Also, why is Prestige, Savior and the Dozen interested in Speck? The bottom of the barrel in regards to heroes and the apex in Zenith evolution are fighting for a piece of us.
“One mans trash is another man’s treasure.”
The Dozen made it clear why they are after us when BM visited Savior, Speck disturbs the balance that the Dozen has held for awhile, the creation of another hero school invites conflict for both the heroes and the Dozen
As for Savior well its obvious why they’re intrested in Speck, and it’s only because of the Zeniths. Remember how Hedonist mentioned about recommending people to Savior?
As for Prestige their reasons still seems like a mystery for now but I’m sure it’s only to add more Zenith’s to their arsenal, but who knows
@TechNote It’s funny how both schools brainwash their students in different ways. Savior uses loyalty chips while Prestige uses militarism. The question is, how Speck brainwashes us exactly? I doubt Tolly doesn’t have an agenda of her own.
Anyone can use an electrolarynx, but doesn’t Lady Ash have pink, wrinkled, burnt skin though? I really don’t think she’s the MC’s mother, it could be a disguise or something, but it really doesn’t seem likely. Also, Lady Ash lets the MCs live because their real superpower is plot armor, there’s no CCH 3 if the they die.
By the way, do you think we’ll get some sort of gear at the end that emulates the superpower we choose? Like a laser visor or a jet pack? Because that would be really awesome.
@thestrangemonkey I honestly think Tolly uses “love” as a way to manipulate the student’s of Speck. Granted she could just love each and everyone of her students but if were going by the bases that each school brainwash their students, then it’s only logical to see Tolly’s love for the students as a method of brainwashing. She makes her students, including the MC, feel like shes a motherly figure for them, making them want to do what’s needed for her
