Chicken fight is actually a brilliant idea for what I’m going for. It checks pretty much all of the boxes. The only question would be where to place it? It would have to take place in an indoor pool, like at a YMCA type facility that Tolly rents out as some sort of team-building exercise, but then something happens (a bet, an insult, a prize, or just competitive juices) and things go nuts.
Plus, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a chicken fight tournament in a movie/sitcom. I’m sure it’s happened before, but it feels fresh to me.
Hmmm…maybe McCormick jokingly offers a homework pass (in one of her rare good moods) and there’s a big project looming that no one has even started on, and yeah that sounds like a decent set up.
I’ll put all of these ideas together in one post (Halloween dance/costume contest, laser tag, water balloons, prank wars, chicken fight, etc) once I get the D&D scene done.
(And no one should worry that I’m diverting too much attention from Part 3 to do this. I’ve written over 10,000 words of romance scenes since July 2nd. Only Stunner and Stoic left to do!)
@Bugreporter, thanks for more catches! And yeah McCormick will be a little plot line that everyone encounters. Anyone who read the short story I wrote about her last year will see it coming.
Crook is tougher because I think only those dating him will care. I’ll see how much room I can devote to him. I realize I can’t wrap up every single plot line that was ever introduced…I introduced too many!
@Ace_TM, I’m planning on introducing a way to jump into Issue 10 without having to read Issue 9, but it’s not going to be a pure ‘save’ system.
@AntiZenith, if you’re a Zenith, yes. If you’re using nanobots or the Stench armor, no she can’t use those abilities.
I’m trying to get some writing done today. Last weekend I spent a lot of time on my NYC Midnight flash fiction contest entry. And this week has been a challenging week with work and training our puppy, and now we have additional kids in the house (hosting a sleepover) so you young/single/childless/puppyless folks, please enjoy your peace and quiet…but don’t rub it in!
(I used way too many emojis for a middle-aged dad)
A costume party could be the place for an actual monster to show up-- vampie, werewolf, ghost, etc. Especially if it is also the costume one of the heros is wearing.
I keep thinking of some sort of live action role playing should have oppotunies for awkward circumstances. (Confusion over what it part of the game and what is real, people playing the opposite gender, etc.)
A road trip somewhere? (Lincoln is the closest big city, I think. All I really know about there is that there is a Starbucks somewhere near the university-- my passenger desperately needed caffeine on the way back from Burning Man.)
Too bad Speck probably doesn’t have a steam tunnel network-- going places you aren’t supposed to go seems to be a college tradition. (These days, it seems, you tresspass and put it up on YouTube. But that is way off topic.)
Just a heads up to folks, I’ll be asking for beta testers later this year for Community College Hero 2.5: Fun and Games
I’ll probably create a new thread at the appropriate time, but this is the best spot for me to mention it right now. I don’t need any more help right now, but again, I’ll put out the call sometime this fall. It will be a short standalone game, so testing should be pretty easy and not very time-consuming at all, although part of it uses die rolls, so I’ll have to take thorough notes from feedback results.
My best guess is Sept/Oct, but that’s subject to change. Based on Patron feedback and comments here, I’m going with Parents’ Day and Halloween Party/Costume Contest to go along with the Fantasy RPG (The Fury of Zarlor).
I had been leaning toward a Prank Wars or Chicken Fight story, but the other two were by far the most popular on Patreon; it wasn’t even close.
lol if Tress went as Mary, I’m guessing Wombat would have been happy to go as a
If anyone has some ideas for the Halloween episode (offbeat/wacky ideas are fine!) feel free to comment here. I mean, just there being a costume contest/dance provides some comedic possibilities, but I’m wondering if I need a little more than that (like the Community episode where people are basically 'zombieized" but it all wraps up in 20 min)
