The responses were a great help! And I have a plan now! I definitely want to write date/social scenes in some of the most iconic locations NYC has to offer, but I’ve decided to move those to Issue 11 as a way to show growth/contrast, and also because I’ve probably romanticized fall/winter in NYC way too much over my lifetime, so that’s a more natural fit on the timeline in Issue 11.
I’m writing another set of “date” scenes for Issue 10, where MC and MC’s romantic interest have to deal with less than ideal circumstances. Prestige is a military-type institute, after all, and students are required to perform decidedly non-glamorous tasks, sometimes in pairs.
Example
I wrote a 2,000-words Crook “date” scene last night where MC and Crook are assigned KP duty. Oh, the pile of potatoes.
And for this month, I added a development diary to the OP, so if anyone wants to see my monthly word count, it will be right there.
MC: What shall we do for our date, Crook?
Crook: What do you have in mind? I was thinking maybe just going to a bar, or maybe seeing a film.
MC: How about peeling potatoes?
At the very least, I’d expect Dirty Girl and Tress to infiltrate the kitchen the potato guns, so that the “Great Potato Fight of 2005(?)” could then take place.
PS – I really hate when the forum software thinks it knows how I want a post to look and automatically changes them for me
Having just read about them, they’re surprisingly dangerous! I mean, I never gave much consideration to spud-projecting weaponry! It was a huge gap in my knowlege!
And I really need to come up with something like that for my secret CCH project. I’ve already done a paintball scene back in Part 1 (or was it Part 2?) but I’m thinking a laser tag outing might be a fun scene to do at some point.
Can Shine manipulate light or just produce it? If he could manipulate light he could stop people’s laser guns working, so he’d pretty useful in a match.
wouldn’t that be over powered? I mean we can already stop others powers from working but then adding downfall’s power on top of that just kinda makes it ridiculous. And speaking of downfall wouldn’t that be too similar to her power anyway
No, because as @Jared_Frias said, that would turn MC into Downfall. And Downfall is way overpowered anyway. Negating powers is a nice, solid-but-not-game-breaking ability for the MC.
Hey @Eric_Moser quick question regarding the end goals. we are only able to get one correct? I figured it would be to much for multiple but I figured that I’m planning out my end goals and leading an army with the best super team in the world at my back sounds like a blast if it was possible.
It does sound like a blast, but yes it would be a it overpowered!
You will be able to pursue different goals, 1) solo awesomeness, 2) team awesomeness, 3) army awesomeness, or 4) booksmart mental awesomeness, but if you spread out your progress points too thin during the journey, then when you face that climax decision, you’ll fail.
I’ve become a huge fan of this series. I just hope it continues after the trilogy. I’d love to see the rookies start their own hero agency or something like that.
@StarWarsMaster, it HAS been a long time since I started! Early 2014, to be exact! I really want to get most of the writing for Part 3 done by the end of this year, so that I can use the winter months to edit and test. Editing and testing are going to be a beast.
@Azraeel, I’m not sure what I’ll do after Part 3 is published. In a way, it will be freeing to not have an unfinished trilogy hanging over my head anymore.
General Note: I’ve written over 7,000 words in the past 3 days, so that’s a pretty big chunk! That includes romance scenes with Synergy, Crook, and Tress.
I still need to tackle Stoic, Stunner, and Dirty Girl, and I’m not sure if I’ll do one of those tomorrow or give myself a break to tackle another scene and then come back to them. So far, this “typing into google docs” idea has given me a huge chunk of content, but I’m very aware that I’ll need to use the last 10 days of July bringing it all over to CSIDE, adding code, testing, etc. So I’m giving myself 16 more days to write content, and then I stat that transition.
