Community College Hero 3: All Things End (Poll on Post #1248 re: romantic short stories)

Well that sounds like a :ant: :cricket: :beetle: I’ll check it out!

I believe that’s called being a sadist. I hate it, but respect it. The internal struggle of knowing I can’t get everything I want in one play through, versus the knowledge it will make a better game is real.

Also, will having been any teachers pet in the previous games affect this game?

I have a new question. Getting good grades in CCH was integral to getting better stats. Will our previous GPA in CCH1 and CCH2 have any lasting effects in CCH3?

Probably not, grades in CCH1 and 2 was for better gears which will help success some situation which was burned at the end.

As @Kasami_Gi said, the main reward for good grades was the equipment, and that’s all destroyed, so I don’t see grades from the first semester as being relevant anymore.

But I will likely keep brainstorming variables I want to carry over, and I’ll add those to the demo’s player creation scene, so when something pops up there, you know it’s relevant moving forward (although I do have the “dream power” listed there, and I’m not sure that will pop up, so it might be superfluous)

I like the “Dream Power” choice even if it’s just “nothing”, it’s pretty much what you would do if you’re “normal” in a city full of Powered, start dreaming about it.

Anyway, can you please let out some of the “useless choices”, some of it i like very much cuz it’s very related but most are just annoying, the choices where it’s “tell, not show” like “what do you think of it”, it’s literally ask my thoughts, does it really matter what i think? Shouldn’t it be what i do affect about what i think? Now, don’t start putting reactions after the “what you think” choices (like adding emotion and reactions from other, it won’t change) or making me choose side, it’s not “hard choices” which you are trying to make, it’s frustrating :((

Like you shouldn’t be making player choose the “you can’t do all of these” choices, like making me choose who to save or which team will i help, i know i cannot save everyone nor make everyone happy, but you don’t have to make it worse, it should be “should i do this” and “can i do it” choices, it would make us player more satisfied with our action and make us feel we’re actually accomplished something, i know it would make it less interesting but atleast it won’t leave us a guilty and dissatisfied feeling knowing that I could have done something.

In a fight, don’t put two people at risk and make me choose who to save, also, don’t make the situation where one by one, they start struggles and i help each one (know what I’m talking about?), It’s extremely boring, (i don’t actually have any ideas about how to make a good scene where you can help everyone without it seem lame, this is the best i got: instead of making “solo” situations (“a grenade fly toward him” and it make you choose how to react), make some domino effect (i don’t know how to describe it, I’m still in school and this probably sound like rambling); or in some scene, player can choose to use their Power for more positives effects (like Zip!, there is a “Power” stat for a reason right? But don’t make it exactly like Zip!, where it solve everything).

I don’t really got any good ideas, this is probably sound like just another one of my gibberish nonsense, i know I’m asking a lot, I’m just run out of actual good COG and HG books to read, I tried many of them and none could be perfect (which is exactly what life is about but…), I’m looking for letting out my frustrations. I not really a perfectionist since I’m here just looking at stuff and judge them but have no idea how to do it.

Anyway, thanks for reading, if you are. Hopefully, you will understand whatever the hell i just rambling about. Again, I’m asking a lot which i know it’s never easy to write a story, not talking about making a game along with it. Just…help me understand.

Also, can you make the chatting scene a bit more “have a point”? Like you put all these characters like we’re old pals and i can’t interact with them or learn about them. After the party, Rain or Quicky will complain about your team and you couldn’t speak up cuz they’re right? They’re right yes, but why can’t i reason with them? They talking like my team don’t deserve the attention cuz of how “toxic” (is that a word for it?) we are, they give goods reason yes, i agree even but, Tress acting leadering, Crook and DG being rude, Stoic barely look at anyone and how are Mob/Synergy and Wombat play along.

Here is my reason that i can’t say, Tress acting “queenly” cuz that’s what a leader supposed to do! She supposed to show confident and commanding if she want keeping anyone in line; Crook, DG and Stoic are being THEMSELF, why could they judge them, just because you’re in a popular team that mean you have to be perfect? And they acting like they’re the only one got nicknamed by DG; how Synergy, Wombat (and You but they don’t mention since you have no power so that make sense I’m guessing) dealing with this? THEY DON’T! The only way anyone can get along is for you to make room for them, not expecting they’ll behave when you do. Synergy and Wombat never have to dealing with it cuz they know, they understand, that’s why we’re a team!

I understand you add Quicky, a glory seeker, well, some one gotta be. But PLEASE, if he get in trouble cuz of his own arrogant and ego, and he’s not going to realize it, he’s going to be more dangerous to the team.

Also, can you make the fighting scene clearer? I barely catch anything with the fight with Manipulator and feel like you’re holding back too much, the Hedonist isn’t there, so she could have take us out one by one easily (despite she playing with her food), i feel like you’re just forcing her to lose.

Thanks for reading, hopefully (again) you can catch what I’m saying under all of those gibberish :]

@Kasami_Gi, my goodness that is quite a list! All I can say is, stay tuned! I don’t really accept “wish lists,” I’m more just asking for suggestions and feedback for actionable tweaks. Like when someone suggested that I move the Ouch modifier to after the SF mission, that’s an example of what I’m looking for.

Okay, I’m diving into writing this weekend and I hope to update the link again in the next 10-14 days. It’s a nervous time for everyone, and I realize most people aren’t focused on game updates at a time like this, but speaking only for myself, I need a shred of normalcy these days, so I’ll keep writing and updating as much as I can.

Also, I have announced the results of the Diabolical Dozen contest. Two members of our community placed in the top three. Congrats to @Nocturnal_Stillness for 2nd place and @hustlertwo for 3rd place.

And congrats to Alexander Reader for 1st place. I already know how I’ll incorporate the villain Auger into the story.

I had really wanted votes to determine the winner, but it was obvious to me that the voting results were all over the place (almost every finalist pointed this out to me), so I just made the decisions myself.

Congratulations to the winner and @hustlertwo

Thank you for the competition Eric. Sorry it went crazy towards the end.

Thanks, Eric! And congrats to @Nocturnal_Stillness and the appropriately-named Mr. Reader. Writing the entry was a lot of fun, to be sure.

Here is a question @Eric_Moser at the start of CCH1 who would you say is the strongest hero and strongest villain?

Mega Cat!

Edit: unless it is the day where Birthday Boy can use his power, then maybe he will be the strongest.

If Mega Cat is truly as strong as everyone says, he probably is the strongest hero.

Strongest villain would probably be Blue Morpho, I think. In the D12 (heh) files, it mentioned that they ever learned to control their power properly, grade 10 on the Zenith scale wouldn’t come close to describing how powerful they would be.

Then the question remain. Why are these individuals so powerful? What’s make them different from thousand others? It couldn’t be just “practice” since it could get one so far to their limit (i know practice make differents, huge differents even but in this case, it cannot be).

I thought about that because they’re the first children generation after the Zeanith Shield come down but after many more thoughts, i just can’t think it’ll be the reason (can it?).

Then, what make them different? OR, if they’re not, then can we, anyone with Power, soon or later, can reach their level or maybe surpass them even?

Our main character Power is Nullify (sorry if i type it wrong), meaning they can take away others Power temporary. Like Downfall showed, students powers could do much more. So the obvious conclusion is that, with enough training, practice and experience, you can take away others powers as long as you like, PERMANENTLY wouldn’t sound crazy either.

BUT, new power isn’t what make one individual powerful, (like a soldier good with every single type of gun doesn’t make them dangerous, so they would not be able to win against a master of one weapon), like Supercat have almost every basic power there is, but that doesn’t make him overpowered, it make him unpredictable, so the “level of power” still determined on how and what can you do with the power you already have.

My point is, our character just have one set of power (the boosted strength, speed and thinking are just side effects), but with just this one power already make you a force to be reckon with :)) Also, What else can you do with it? Take others power, sure but how did you take it? Where did it go? (Back to the Zone where it came from obviously). This won’t be in the game but I’ll say what i think anyway, could our character go as far and basically BE Downfall and some how harvest the power you cut from the Zone and use it yourself? SO MANY POSSIBILITIES, and not just you, other heroes and villain as well! But I’ll cut my gibberish right there, if you’re still reading to this point, you have my thanks, and give me your opinions :)))

Well, according the what everyone has read, I would think most readers would assume: MegaCat, Blue Morpho, Downfall, Booksmart, maybe Black Bullet, maybe Lady Ash, although we’ve seen few, if any, real feats, from most of them. But again, until we start seeing feats, no one really knows. MegaCat’s Zenith Rankings could be out of date or just plain flawed.

As far as feats go, Manipulator has the most ‘screen time.’ We’ve seen her kill Origami, whup the MC’s ass in CCH1, then kill Hedonist (in some playthroughs), then whup the whole Speck student body’s asses for most of the fight. How would she have done against the Big Three of the Dozen in a fair fight? Who knows? She was already whupped when they showed up. Maybe there will be a rematch in Part 3?

And we’ll be seeing Downfall in glorious combat in the next update, which I am having a blast planning and writing.

And @Beaterxys, thank you, and you too! If we are smart and patient, we can get past this.

@Kasami_Gi is saying what is exactly on my mind, power nullification only is simply too low level and simple to make the MC more of a threat, most especially the Dr Stench part. I think most players would agree with me that that with how powerful we’ve seen that most of the heroes and villains are, Dr Stench’s suit does not seem like a ‘threat’ to most of them even the speck kids. The MC needs something with enough power and also potential and I also support @Kasami_Gi that it would be good if we are able to play Downfall but power nullification style.

I am going to say this once again:

Stating your opinion is fine, as long as you present actionable feedback with that opinion.

Saying: “Dr. Stench’s suit does not seem like a ‘threat’” is opinion.

Actionable feedback would explain why you think it isn’t a threat and then make suggestions on improving the suit, within the current story.

Asking the author to rewrite the MC in your vision is non-actionable feedback. Often this type of feedback does more harm than good.
