Is SINS OF THE SIRES the end of VTM or is there more games to come?
No further VtM games have been announced at this point, but some of the existing games have bonus content in development.
Will there be a Wta or Mta in the future ?
No further World of Darkness games have been announced at this point.
Please note, this is not a definitive statement that there won’t be any. I don’t have access to any more information than anyone else who spends way too much time on this forum. But I’m aware enough of what goes on here that I can say with confidence that if they had announced any such game, I would have heard of it.
There may be talks around acquiring more WoD licenses, and I’m sure CoG would be enthusiastic about the prospect. But until such licenses are acquired and contracts are signed, nothing definitive can be said.
Yeah, a game on the Werewolf series would be cool.
Although it wouldn’t have the “manage your curse” problem of vampire games, Heart of the Forest 's set of circumstances was very specific.
Moreover, sorry if I have already expressed that opinion, but I hope any new games do not resemble Sins of the Sires, since IMO the scale is:
bad < Sins of the Sires << Out For Blood < Night Road = Parliament of Knives = good
All I want is a proper Hunter the Reckoning game. I firmly believe that if Out for Blood based itself on that system than VTM it would’ve done much better.
out of curiosity what is your hunter creed if you make a hunter character ?
The new edition of vtm included a lot of changes to the mechanics and the setting, and overall it is very different from the Vampire that was the default from 1998-2018. Some people liked some or most of these changes, but not everyone thinks they made any improvements to the game, and many more people have mixed feelings about the V5 alterations. But i personally like this game.
Honesty i prefer the V20 over V5, i felt that the kindreds got nerfed badly and one of the plot the theo bell defection don’t make any sense at all, suddenly having conscience after working for them for so long and decided to hand over his resignation by blowing jurgen head off in a convention and defecting to the anarchs in the process, that plot is a mess.
Theo Bell hated his boss, had his reservations about his job but continued to work as an archon out of his sense of duty. Also even after his betrayal he still acts as a liaison between Camarilla and Anarchs. I wouldn’t say that his actions didn’t make any sense.
I personally like both V20 and V5 btw. Making kindred weaker is a part of V5’s charm. You really have to think about your actions because you’re not some nearly invulnerable super-creature. The world is more dangerous than ever for children of Caine with the modern day technology and the SI. You have to balance the desires of the beast and your convictions. On top of all that kindred politics are still a mess, even more so now with the new developments. (Ministry joining anarchs, Brujah and Gangrel leaving Camarilla, Lasombra and Banu Haqim joining Camarilla. Sabbat losing many of its followers etc.)
Why didn’t the Camarilla place Theo at the red list ?, the guy blew an inner council member head off at the middle of prague convention where the security and secrecy is all time high and walked out unscathed and he still acts as a liason without consenqunces from both sect ?, that alone makes me think is was bad. even if hardestasdt younger is universally hated in and out of the sect due to his ego, there’s should be at least consenquences from killing him.
The Camarilla already did all it could do and restricted membership. Camarilla elders used to see anarchs as young rebellious kindred to be guided to the correct path, now the relationship between these two sects are more tense and hostile. I’d say these developments are partly the consequences of Theo Bell’s betrayal.
When it comes to taking direct action against Bell, he’s too influential for Camarilla to simply call for his execution. He has supporters among anarchs who see him as a hero and a leader. Trying to hunt him down would mean an all out war with the Anarchs amidst all the problems with the SI, elders leaving because of the beckoning etc.
“Despite his notoriety, Theo still acts as liaison between high-status Camarilla and Anarchs, for the sole reason that he brooks no shit at meetings. He short circuits Sabbat ambushes, quells any Anarch riots, and shuts down Camarilla extortion and coercion. As a mediator, Theo’s judgement cannot be faulted.”
This is directly from the V5 corebook explaining why they tolerate his mediatorship. He’s still useful in a way.
I’m absolutely OBSESSED with VTM so when Choice of Games released VTM content I snatched them up quicker than a Methuselah with celerity 5. I think all four of the games have beautiful differences that make them unique while some of them suffer from extremely tight guidelines from Paradox.
Night Road set the bar EXTREMELY HIGH. While I’ve never played Bloodlines (Please, NO TOMATOES!!!) I have watched numerous playthroughs and Night Road has this beatific freedom, action, and customization options that reminds me of Bloodlines. It seemed like Kyle was given rules and guidelines of the story but was allowed to really dig his roots in and let his writing bloom so beautifully that it’d make any Toreador enraptured.
Out for Blood is a VTM narrative that I believe is DESPERATELY needed in v5. I say this because when v5 came out I saw a lot of people complaining about how powerful the second inquisition is and their threat to kindred. Out for Blood shows us just how dangerous even thinblooded licks and a 13th generation vampire are to humans so why would they not mobilize to fight back? My only complaint is that it feels like Paradox gave Jim (a literary GOD) too much red tape where he couldn’t include more content for a single playthrough.
Parliament of Knives really dug in and showed what VTM really is, which is politics and intrigue. I loved the writing of that game so much but I would’ve loved the option to place dots in my character’s clan disciplines. I understand the sentiment that it feels rushed but it makes sense since the game takes place over a few nights. One thing that I truly loved about this game was it showed the beautiful glory and horror that is the Jihad: which is no matter how far you climb, enemies you destroy, secrets you uncover, or alliances you make, you are STILL just a pawn to your elders who in turn are STILL just pawns to their own elders.
Sins of the Sires has REALLY GOOD BONES. I loved how it showed just how horrible and depressing kindred life can be; everyone you love are living and aging without you while you are cold and unaging, constantly fighting against the beast within who only wants to feast on blood until your destruction. The beginning of the game started out phenomenally, you’re immediately drawn into the world and its characters. I believe the fall of the second half of the game is due to too little time and FAR too much red tape. In fact I feel like this game is the one that Paradox constrained the most, despite the roaring success of the other three games. I REALLY hope they allow the writer the freedom to go back in and flesh out some more of the wonderful work she created. Also let me play a Toreador, I have to be a Toreador irl and in game.
Rant over, all in all I really loved these games.
In case you weren’t already aware, you’ll be pleased to know that Jim Dattilo and Jeffrey Dean are both working on expansions to their games.
Out for Blood will be getting an update with some of the content that Jim wanted to include in the game from the start, but couldn’t due to time constraints, among them True Faith.
Parliament of Knives is supposed to get a DLC expansion that includes some new clan and romance options.
Omg praise the Blood Gods!!! True faith is such a powerful ability lmao 4 and 5 dots can drop even the strongest vampires.
Not if the said vampire also possess true faith
Can vampires possess True Faith? What happens when they do?
Yes @AletheiaKnights very few vampires can possess true faith and depends on how many dot in the true faith merit and usually the one with high humanity or the followers of path of enlightment that possess it. the lowest one are capable banishing by brandishing a holy symbol or by uttering prayer, the middle are capable sensing presence and can’t be dominated or manipulated with presence discipline, the highest one can outright smite vampire on the spot without the needs of ritual, holy symbol or prayers, the most notable vampires that possess true faith are Anatole, Ferox, Maria Asuncion and Cardinal Ambrosio Luis Moncada.
Omg WAIT that’s incredible but how would those holy powers not hurt the kindred who use them?.Also can vampires take true faith in v5 or is that v20?
