brother the more I find out about any religion the organization that theological believe their history. And how it showed in medium the lack of understanding really breaks my heart. Even creating you know of Fantastical fantasy religion do your research for how is it going to look what is the evolutionary point is that and how do they come to those theological metaphysical and ethical conclusions. What’s the origin of this organization and structure why is it openly organize versus a symbol of cut off Cloisters of the elect etc etc. You know sadly in the world so you think of Catholicism we don’t look at Hinduism a religion that is far too complex to dive into but it’s Fantastic For a game. Or they can look at the religious rivalry between the Taoist and the Buddhist or iIn Chinese history as inspiration.

I didn’t read all the entires so maybe someone already mentioned this, but I really hate it when works try too hard to be ‘grimdark.’ I literally cannot enjoy Warhammer 40K for this reason, no matter how much I’ve tried. Game of Thrones also regularly tests my patience in a similar way, and it’s the only thing that keeps me from completely enjoying the setting of the Dishonored games. Just going around and using the Heart (which for those unfamiliar with the game, is an object that tells you the secrets of a person or place) and having it tell you that everyone you see is a murderous thief who butchers strangers or whatever, it’s just unrealistic. I mean, call me naive but I think most humans do want to be good people, and while there are some very selfish people in the world who can be monsters in some circumstances, I’d say that’s 15% of people at absolute most. When the game keeps presenting everyone as evil it seems really shallow and forced, and makes me wonder why the developer would even expect me to sympathize with the plight of the common man in this setting when they seem so universally awful.

I’m going to say the book in the show with Game of Thrones of distinctly different. I think the popularity of Game of Thrones is that George RR Martin. Is it a big lover of History, but he didn’t want to be restrained by it. So he’s subverts many popular tropes. When the huge things in historical fiction if you must make the world feel plausible not necessarily entirely accurate and it sends everything has to be historically accurate timeline was accepted to the T. But by adding real life elements from true life inspiration he gives a world a probability even when it’s more Fantastical elements.

Have you silly basing your opinions from the show or what people say online it’s filter view.

I haven’t read the books, so I am talking purely about the show here, otherwise I would have specified A Song of Ice and Fire, and I feel like sometimes the show tries too hard to be ‘dark’ and it falters a lot when making its villains too over-the-top, like in the case of Ramsay Bolton.

The books may handle all of that much better, in fact I imagine they do, because it’s one writer rather than a team of writers. The more people involved, the higher the chance of flaws becomes. Too many cooks spoil the broth, and all.

And also personally reading the books I love them to death. It never really came off grimdark to me like in the 40K sense it honestly was very good at feeling thrilling and suspenseful. Also how the style of the book is written and you have all these incredibly subjective perspectives an incredible way of getting intimately know character in a short. Of time while I really good method World building. One of the things Song of Ice and Fire is really good at its World building.
