Citadel WiP (Updated: 3/11/2022) - A Medical Drama with Romance

You look at your watch. Your mouth feels impossibly dry. You clear your throat once, twice. “Time of death. 9:22 a.m.”

don’t tell me… He’s wearing a watch while in OR! Must be referring to clock ryt.

Everything I expected, well nearly everything, from a medical drama. I’m a big fan of medical kdramas. One can see you got the know how of bts of generic medical in-house. Exceptionally well written. Premise really stood out. Characters are equally expressed. ROs, especially, love the chemistry b/w mc nd the roommate intern. Really excited for new updates.

Ahh, thank you!! This really made my day :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

This is really, really great. Your characters and dialogue are so well-written - sharp, and real, and funny, and sweet - I feel like it could only have been written by someone who’s knows about the profession. At certain points, when you’re writing about the surgery, I could feel the tension and it’s only when the whole thing’s over that I can breathe again :stuck_out_tongue:

Right from the start, with the first failure - I already felt like it was going to be a story that made you care, both about what happens and also about the whole cast of characters.

And yes - about the characters: I honestly, genuinely loved them all. Ok, I don’t know - I’m not feeling Dr. Grey that much, but Eli is a sweetheart, and Davy is cool as hell (knew I’d love them right from the start, from the art on your tumblr, and damn, the motorbike ride), and Jean is so adorable (kept making me late for the surgery tho jesus, I played it a couple times and I thought I could ask like, just one question but apparently not)! And I’m actually so excited to get to know Viccc better?? Guess I’m just in it for the surly characters.

All in all, I’m really glad people recommended this WIP to me - it’s so so good. Can’t wait for the next update!

AHHHH thank you!! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Davy is my favorite RO I love all the ROs equally

Love the game… And as a Grey’s Anatomy fan, I can’t wait for the next update.
I hope the spiciness is minimal in the Hospital. Because the Medical World ain’t Grey’s Anatomy.

Also, do we have options for specialties? I would love to be an Ortho or Trauma
but General surgery is fine.

AHHH, thank you! Don’t get be started on the “realism” of Grey’s Anatomy lol

Ortho and neurosurgery are their own separate residencies at Citadel, but the MC will be able to rotate through different surgical specialties (i.e. GI, cardiothoracic, trauma, etc.)!

Love it so far, my MC is doing great! Can’t wait for more, and definitely can’t wait till this is completed! Keep up the good work

Just finished playing this game a few times, exploring everything, and I have to say that Citadel really packs a punch.

I know nothing about medicine or surgery, but the gameplay compensates for this nicely through the stat system and forcing me to pay attention to what info is given.

Different playstyles are accommodated–I appreciate that I can be blunt/straightforward without being a jerk, for instance. Booksmarts-type stats are usually my go-tos, but I like that there’s an option for more intuitive roleplays.

Raising stats or getting favorable comments from ROs feels earned. And order to raise stats, something else has to be sacrificed so it there are always stakes of some kind.

On the ROs…oh, the ROs. Every last one of them is interesting. I think that’s only natural in a game where all the characters are interesting, like the patients and their families. This demo is bursting with characterization, and I’m afraid that my MC ultimately turned into a shameless flirt.

(Grey and Sloan, however… Oh my goodness. They are my favorites.)

That’s not all, though!

There’s also an intriguing subplot which concerns Citadel and, more specifically, Dr. Grey. I also enjoyed being able to side with Citadel, find them suspect, or be ambivalent about them, not just with that subplot but also in general.

My only complaint is that the individual chapters feel more like subchapters within the larger chapters of the intro/cases. (But that complaint is more of a nitpick than anything substantial.)

All in all, this is very awesome demo. The gameplay presents a challenge and so do the stats, and I love the characters–your characters are so, so excellent.

Wow wow wow, this honestly made my day! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I’m glad you enjoy the gameplay - a lot of that is due to @kckolbe’s advice!

And, character interactions are my favorite thing to write so I’m glad you liked that too!

Hey! There’s no better way to procrastinate studying for med school exam than playing a medical drama game :stuck_out_tongue: I had fun! Cannot wait for the next update  .

Thanks to @burninglights for telling me about this game

Glad you enjoyed the game :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

(and thanks @burninglights for recommending it!)

How do u get the info about Mr Day’s symptoms without Mrs Day kicking u out?

You can ask SOME questions, and some will be answered. Experiment with different ones. I was able to ask 3 specific questions (I don’t think the order matters) and do an exam. But how you talk to her matters.

Ok, thanks

So the mc can end up in Trauma then? Please say yes (at least on tv) it is my favourite surgical speciality.

Potentially! But it’ll be later in the game - definitely beyond Case 3!

Demo update in 1 week!

Can’t wait for all of you to play Case Two Chapter Two: Work Hard, Play Hard! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
