Choice of Rebels Part 1 WIP thread

Yes

I’ll show those plektoi who’s boss…

Speaking of the creation of plektoi, I wonder if griffins actually exist here, or if they’re imaginary creatures just as they are in our own world. And if they don’t already exist, I wonder how much blood would be required to create them, and if they could be made in a way so that they’d breed true and the blood used in the creation of several breeding pairs would be a one time sacrifice.

Suddenly I have visions of a Shayardene air force… :sunglasses:

Or maybe expose a few creatures to a Xaos storm and hope for the best

For all we know, there might already be griffins in the Xaos lands… :smiley_cat:

And here is something I have pondered…plektoi and Theurgy are stopped by the Xaos-wards surrounding the territory. Horion tells a story of how a flying Theurgy smashed into such a ward, and fell to his death when trying to escape a Xaos-storm.

Perhaps Plektoi are Xaos creatures in their own right, but theurgically engineered to conform to a set of specs…

So there might well be griffins out there; I know I like the world building in Choice of Rebels. Heck, I hope we get to see some of the Undead guys as well in a future part (not to mention the Abhumans)

Was the art you posted a few posts above yours? It looks good.

@idonotlikeusernames, So, what did you think of Hamon’s win?

It would be funny if the people of the Rebelverse thought Griffins looked silly. Like “Oh, an eagle and a lion? Please, you should think about real animals. Like Pletkoi”.

The Gryphon and Great-Eel were the old royal standard of Shayard that has been forbidden by Karagond. You can select the gryphon as the sigil for the rebellion.

Suddenly I have this idea for a navy to go along with that air force… :smile_cat:

Ah, slipped my mind. Haven’t played XoR in a while.

The great Eel-riders of the rebellion, boldly scaring the coastal forts of the Thaumatarch, eh?

Just a quick note to say that this is not the case. (I’ve said this upthread once or twice.) Many people in the gameworld think it is, but they’re wrong.

The ability to say this with a straight face will definitely help in reaching an orderly outcome in XOR.

I’d just like to note for the record that I’ve never played a Tellius game, or any Fire Emblem for that matter.

Finally, as I go through the code for bandits.txt, I’d just like to preempt my editor and proofreader by accepting that all of the descriptions in this comic apply…

That was my first thought, but that likely isn’t feasible unless you can also give the riders working gills. It would probably be better to make great big ones and train them to attack enemy boats.

I can certainly empathize. Your bandits.txt was the first and only time I ever started a choicescript code read-through and gave up before finishing. Things I do in my leisure time are supposed to be fun, and that quite frankly wasn’t.

Maybe better for the politics thread, but I’ll say it surprised even me, as a result I’ve now got to do some research on the guy I didn’t think I’d have to do.
On the other hand the Socialists still face a steep uphill struggle, and worse, unlike Sanders in the US there are actually other far-left populists around to split the vote, like Mélenchon and then there is of course Macron, who like Trudeau might be good on social issues but less so on financial and economic ones. Still I’d vastly prefer any of them to either Le Pen or Fillon, put a gun to my head and I might even prefer Le Pen to Fillon. :unamused:

Well, I’ll keep focusing on trying to make reading the game fun. And thanks for the attempt! Among the changes I’m now trying to implement are some things you’ve recommended upthread.

Excellent! :+1:

I’m sure this has been answered before but does letting your unused rebels in Winter practice combat actually improve your rebels chances in a fight?

Actually, it just improves morale and doesn’t change anything else.

Please don’t. I for one like your presence on this thread.
Also get well, or at least better soon @Laguz :hugging:

Now you said it on the other thread but I’ll re-quote it here (and add it to my notes)

This is probably a fair or even charitable estimate of how my character here likely feels about any “nobles” who’d (pretend to be) allies, particularly those who (try to) join up later in the rebellion/series.
But again thanks, I was so focused on the more communist rebels and the Haiti revolt that I never thought to look to dr. King as a source of inspiration here.

I find the Taiping Uprising to be fascinating, but of all of those uprisings, only the Nian Uprising had my sympathy.

Well we like having you around. That’s useful.

And if you aren’t here then what are we going to do when jerks show up? Everyone will be too polite to yell at them!

We want you and tellius here and you have inspired me in my wip also to think more in different people around me. And don’t worry I will jell to the assholes and bigotry people in your name too. Not so much in wips due I still in my policy or not going wips I don’t know author due each time I do that i am called troll or in pm or by the Author itself.

Chirping in late to say that I also enjoy Laguz’s contributions to the thread, and hope all goes well to them.
