@Sneaks, @WinterHawk pretty much nailed it. COM 2 would likely flub a large scale battle. The next stat increase will be in Game 2. Napoleon is another COM 6 example, and Einstein another INT 6. And as Mara has pointed out elsewhere, Hitler was arguably a CHA 6; Gandhi or Buddha aren’t the only models.
@cascat07, the poleis of Karagon have become much more homogeneous over the centuries of empire–but there are still differences, which you may have the chance to exploit in later games.
And I conceived of the Kryptasts as having evolved from an old tradition of Krypteia in some bits of Karagon. When Karagon began its Theurgy-fuelled conquests, there was a sense that these poleis could no longer afford their annual hunt (all blood needed for military use), so they were encouraged to go to the colonies and hunt curfew-breakers and other troublemakers instead. Over time, this evolved into a specialist role rather than a rite of passage.
