Choice of Rebels: Stormwright (XoR2 WIP)

Same here and as Have recently reminded us, my mc doesn’t the cha to do it on his own

The land would be taken from the nobles, that’s why I said that it would antagonize them.

I am surprised that Idonotlikeusernames thinks that some yeomen should be given some of the land, while many helots would become paid farmhands. The yeomen din’t live on the land, their only justification for owning land over native helots is their social class.

The land should, preferably, be given to skilled farmers in order to have a more just land distribution but also to avoid a Zimbabwe. More yeomen are skilled farmers currently and big yeomen families have sons and daughters who aren’t able to get land to run their own farms at present but at least some helots are also skilled farmers so they’d enter the re-distribution process too if they sign up. Most “nobles” farm out the actual farming to their yeomen and maybe very occasionally helot servants. Land re-distribution is about both breaking up the huge slave plantations and breaking the plantation economy run by often absentee landlords and re-distributing that into smaller and hopefully more efficient (family)farms and co-ops that are also more focused on producing food instead of ingredients for luxury items.

Looking back up here, the share of church lands seems really low, comparatively speaking. Is it roughly similar across the archonties? The fact the church doesn’t really seem to need substantive land reform is def a point in their favor in terms of coalition building if these numbers are still accurate. Is the merchant class not really involved in direct land ownership as such? Or are what landholders there are that’d fall into the merchant class included under “yeoman smallholders”? If so whats the breakdown between merchants vs true yeomen?

Also, will there ever be like, any real benefit to picking Goety as the name for your magic? As is it’s pretty much entirely a trap option that you’d only take for the flex/for a hard mode, which like- ig if that’s your intent it’s fine, but I generally dislike strictly worse “trap” options like that. I do find Linos’ line of “we shall convince them that you are an Angelic Goete” rather amusing, and it can’t help but make me wonder if there’s some juice there. Obviously willingly casting yourself as a servant of Xaos is never going to be massively popular, but the Goete as the Change-Maker, the disruptor, the shaker of Order, is perhaps a brand that could sell. Definitely more suited to the skeptics among us, although I could see a devoutly heretical MC recasting Xaos as a force of wild dynamism over malevolent evil after their sojourn in the Xaos-Lands. This reading would see Goety not as a dark bargain per se, but a kind of theurgy by which that dynamism is channeled against the bloody-handed ‘Order’ of Karagon. That requires more dualism than the Codex presently holds though.

Alt take for the Syneidiakoi: an attempt to rebrand Goety as the true, unmediated will-working of the Angels, in opposition to decadent and, in truth, Xaotic Theurgy (see also my line about Theurges creating Xaos in my Kleitos theory, I think exposing some of the more degenerate expriments of the upper Kykloi could go a long way to makig ‘Theurgy’ a toxic brand). Wisardry is probably better here tbh, but the Cosmopolitans need options too.

Also being a witch is cool :c

The creator of this game wants to add explicit scenes with romanceable characters?

The creator of this game already has lmao. Read the scenes with the Xaos lovers in Stormwright and tell me they’re anything but explicit, not to mention the actual hate sex with Cerlota.

The play store ain’t gonna like that…

Fallen Hero, 70% of Heart Games catalogue, probably others that I’m forgetting about

Would there be enough blood to fuel the wards if all crimes were classified as harrowing worthy crimes? Obviously unjust but probably still better than just randomly selecting a bunch of slaves tp be murdered

Havenstone has said that in times when not enough people are being Harrowed in Grand Shayard, the Leilatou make owning a fake sales license Harrowable. If that is the worst of the unharrowable crimes, then the list is short

The Hegemony could fuel the wards twenty times over with blood to spare off of their current intake. The wards take up just about four percent of the Hegemony’s total blood budget. This is in a world where basically all crimes are classified as harrowing worthy, the MC stresses about being harrowed for mere vagrancy on the road to Mesniel.

The game features vivid descriptions of people being quite literally turned inside out, as their organs and sinews slough to the ground. Explicit sex scenes occur in like half the catalogue these days, it’s hardly the most graphic thing in the book. (Also now that everything is on the omnibus, kinda not Havie’s problem.)

I’ve asked a couple questions already on this forum, and I really appreciate the answers I’ve received from both Havenstone and the community. I’ve spent over one (maybe two) hundred hours playing Choice of Rebels and I must say it is both stupidly addictive and brilliantly written. I cannot wait until the release of Stormwright, and hope it is as challenging and replayable as the first game when completed. I do have another few questions - 1. Will our choice of target during winter in Uprising affect the priorities of the rebel leader in Stormwright? Would there be a difference in their strategy depending on whether I stole only from the Hegemony all winter without fail, or switched priorities mid-winter to raid nobles and merchants (and yeomen)? More so, will this affect our credibility with anybody, or the loss/gain of unity in Irduin?
2. Would a rebel Theurge who had been ‘suddenly gifted’ their powers to crush a tagma not be able to claim this as proof of their nature as Eclect?
3. Would a helot be allowed to claim the mantle of the true King/Queen of Shayard? Given that a helot MC can be saved by the Laconniers, I’d assume that they may support this.

Your G1 reputation already affects some of these things under the hood, setting the starting variables for Irduin off your anarchy and personality stats and so on. Details tk with Rim rebellion management in the pipeline.

I imagine there will be opportunities for the MC to become Eclect in the future (especially the tease of deferring Linos for the whole “needing three priests” thing, a scene that could have some serious juice). Something that would be interesting is whispers of eclecthood cropping up involuntarily for a popular high devotion MC. Not quite the same power as outright declaring it and channeling it yourself, but the legendary rebel Theurge/general/leader who sent the Hegemony packing and then survived a trip through Xaos and back out again, that’s a story to swell the hearts of the devout and get them thinking things with or without the MCs consent. Could be a fun dynamic if @Havenstone is willing to add the variable.

Not as a de Syrnon. The Lacconiers aren’t exactly in the business of elevating slaves to the nobility, and certainly not the monarchy. At best a helot MC might swing some sort of like leading general/advisor role towards whatever ‘True Heir’ they cook up. If a helot wants to be Queen of Shayard, that’s going to have to come via force of arms and will, not Lacconier backing (also like, all the aristos will hate you lol).

I’m pretty sure that the play store doesn’t allows explicit sex scenes.

So maybe the explicit sex scenes are not as explicit as you think they are.

@apple ok then

I mean it’s hardly hardcore smut, but idk what you’d call:

Jyrrek sexy times

Just minutes later, you’re naked beneath his robe and beneath his muscled body, being pressed down into your makeshift robe-bedroll by his deep, steady thrusts. Jyrrek never loses his relaxed smile even as his breathing speeds up, never gives voice like so many of the others around you. Even when you reach up, groaning, to caress his crown of scars, there’s no flicker of vulnerability in his eyes.

You half-expect him to be done as quickly as he started, but he keeps to his unbroken rhythm while stroking you, surprisingly gently, with one hand. Heat builds in you and you pull him frantically closer, deeper, until @{female a pleasure kindles that sets your whole body ablaze. After your third and fiercest climax, you gasp out a weak protest and try to hold him still with trembling, spasming fingers.|the aching, sweet pressure inside you becomes one with the blaze outside and you spend yourself over and over.}

this, other than ‘explicit’. It’s of a tone and tenor that matches plenty of other released works though, something that I imagine is protected under the carveout here for ‘catalog apps’:

If this was a real issue there would be a lot fewer games with such a focus on hot and heavy RO scenes. If this was enforced to the letter every game with swears in it would get purged from the play store.

On a tangential note, I do wonder how different all of the rebel leaders you can appoint will be. Namely since on my playthough alone I had like 8 or 9 choices, and certainly there would be others had I played differently.

I do love how fine my people were with accepting my choice of Bethune even though he’d been in the band for basically a month or two.

@Havenstone something I’ve wondered as I think again on what to do with Breden, will a Breden at large (for whatever reason) always move to found their own rebellion, or will there be timelines where they fall in with whichever of Bladeshard/Bloodhand is active on their own? Potentially vice versa, with K/S falling in under Breden as well (this I think would depend on the timing of Bredens departure)?

Along similar lines, will we be able at all to repair relationships with band members who might not be the most fond of us in G2 (I’m thinking of Elery and Radmar in particular) or is the distance too great to make meaningful progress on that front?

Also actual feedback: I think the game needs a “how do you feel about Harrowing” variable. Like, as a concept. There are a lot of times where the prospect of Harrowing enemies of the revolution is brought up, or Harrowing criminals/the naturally deceased/etc, but the MC doesn’t have the opportunity to stake down a hardline anti-Harrowing position (or one that is more liberal/Karagond genocidal/classicidal/etc) in a way that’s referenced in future internal monologue. I think alongside know_aether the Cerlota convo is a great chance to lock in the MC’s (initial) thoughts on the practice itself in a way that can be referenced going forwards. Can both color reactions to Harrowers and Theurges and result in butting heads/agreement with people like Radmar or K who are happy to woodchip the ‘right’ people in vengeance.

(I do think and hope that K can be convinced to a hardline anti-Harrowing stance, I’ve talked about how my MC uses the idea of not Harrowing anyone, even the most despicable, as a justifying line to make their other brutalities mentally bearable, and I think K could find some comfort in a similar moral line. That’s just me wanting content for my particular MC though lol.)

Depends on how well you can forge the lineage but after the conquests the Karagonds did throw a lot of people into slavery, so it is not a stretch that a handful of those might have been former nobility/upper class just to make a brutal example to the conquered and get the rest of them to fall in line. To take it further who is to say that among those enslaved former nobles there couldn’t have been a cadet branch or bastard kid of the last de Syrnon monarch? Obviously it will still not make a helot mc an ideal candidate to the Laconniers but if their preferred heirs were to meet, shall we say, unfortunate accidents, which can happen in the middle of a big civil war a particular strain of nationalist helot might be in the position to make them consider a forged lineage.
My only point being, why the heck go to all that trouble? Because at that point it is likely such a helot would be in a position to just declare themselves King in their own right through force of arms or cult of personality so why go to all the trouble to appease the old nobility and play by their rules of what would be, at best, a very minor boost to your legitimacy among the current nobles, which is likely to still be abysmal for any helot.

Yep, that is absolutely baked into a helot playthrough no matter what. Ironically the only aristos, apart from pink unicorn Simon/Suzanne, which is only for bi or pan mc’s into both genders, who might “romance” a (former) helot are Kalea but only if you’re a straight and, I dare say very masochistic, dude and prince(ss)(x) nipple twister, though I struggle to see what that last one would even look like because to the Diadoch all helots aren’t even truly human, so you might need to be even more masochistic than with Kalea.

I suppose technically Erjan is also likely at least a minor noble in his homeland but since he comes from a society without helots he doesn’t really count. He does cater to the whole laying with the enemy thing, literally, if you romance him. Also if I am not mistaken he is gay exclusive, which makes me wonder how he deals with that, considering the pro-natalism and strict gender roles in his homeland?

Not really for my mc either. Heck once the management sections are written my mc will even try to warn him of the Hegemony’s new powder plot.

We, as the readers know that, my mc not being very religious or perhaps particularly “moral” grasps that but it would be extremely tough to sell child sacrifice to the population of the Hegemony. Trade relations might be more doable, considering they even trade with the Hegemony, albeit on the down-low, during times of peace. Which makes me pretty sure that, whatever it is they trade, Halassur needs it more than the Hegemony. Whether that is because they truly need it for their own survival or because they don’t have a very large slave population and as such have a higher demand for “luxury” goods. Anyway makes me hopeful we might be able to fully normalise relations and end the forever war in exchange for the ward tech and mutually assured defense.

FWIW Cerlota is also noble, at least by blood. As a theurge she’s kind of transcended into another social class though. I do think Abelard and Teren will be able to romance a helot MC, although they’re almost certainly going to have more Feelings about it than S does.

Speak for yourself, he’s not my enemy. Halassur have the moral high ground against Qarag aggression and vampiric slavery tbqh (inasmuch as any imperial state can), I’m happy to take their aid and seek a lasting peace settlement. It’s the best thing for the citizens of their empire and the Hegemony.

As for his gayness, seems like he just lets his wife bang his BFF while he fucks off and rails twinks on his diplomatic duties lol.
