Choice of Rebels Part 1 WIP thread

I used to play a com 2 int 1, but found char to be that little bit more helpful. I’ll probably revert back to that once the game has been ironed out a bit.

Tbh, I’m not really that interested in theurgy. Magic without limits, as theurgy appears to be, never really appealed to me.

Thanks @Ramidel for the guide. I haven’t tried it yet, but I appreciate it, even if the anarchy is a bit too low for my taste.

It’s funny seeing how everyone sort of has a plan or goal for their rebellion, whereas I’m just kinda going with the flow with no long term goal in sight.

“The thaumarchy has been defeated! So umm… Now what?”

Yes with fire… That’s why I put the blessing about Eternal flames. As a Pacifist ejem. (how easy-to-use helots are)… Rebel My character atheist as hell know people need something like a religion principle to enter in “I will die for entering in the paradise” mode . Gandhi will be really persuasive but the unwavering belief in her Holiness could help a Lot.
My main inspiration in real life Are Mao Stalin and a twisted version (poor real Gandhi he was a good man) Gandhi. But in Character mindset Mara is directly Vladimir Harkonen. Without the gay sadist part I hope ??? Funniest think is she starting footsteps of Paul Atreides become a Messiah. Only in a Pacifist way… I will gulag my Helots later with the creation of My brand new Inquisition!!! Nothing escapes the Kenon watch… THE KENON AVENGERS.

I do kind of wonder why she’d want to use a symbol that elevates the helots, though.

Because They has to believe her. And the idea of being elevated to a better condition must be all for a helot. And some will be In fact elevated. Like I wont maintain the wards and the blood harrowing. I would have to wipe from existence like 75% of their population but the others would be no slaves and no bleed However would had the bad medieval peasants status. But that’s better that being a slave and that they bleeding you x years until your death

You have a guide? Is it on this thread?

Just some bare bones of my own strategy.

@Havenstone I’ve noticed that there have been mixed reviews on the new chapter 2 addition. I personally liked it but found it to be a little repetitive. Some suggestions that I have are maybe instead of having to choose how to get the required amount of food every week you could change it to starting on week 1 and essentially locking in how you get your food. What I mean by that is week 1 starts out with the MC choosing where to send their bandits, how many people they train to hunt, sabotaging people/things, ect. Then every other week or so you make it to where the MC has run out of something or runs into a problem and would have to change their strategy. Sorry if this confusing I have a hard time putting my thoughts into words.

I noticed that there’s a chance where Radmar has a mutiny and leaves the camp and then later rejoins. Can we have a choice wether we want his group back or not. Also of we don’t have Radmar join the group then can we tell Calea to subtly tell Hector my band is at owlscap. Then if there are any survivors then maybe I’ll lwt them rejoin the band but not till after i berate them for questioning my leadership and also for possibly leading Hector to my camp.

The choice to reject Radmar’s returning mutineers would basically be a choice of getting booted from the leadership of the band. I suppose I should make that clearer. But just as you don’t really have a choice to reject the loot that Radmar & co send from the Owlscap (because your band will find a way of accepting it, whatever you order them), to turn the mutineers away when they’ve come back offering an olive branch wouldn’t be tolerated by the other former helot outlaws.

FYI folks, I’ve just disabled the updated Ch 2. Will revive it when I’m happier with it and think playtesting will be helpful again!

"You glance over to your companions – Zvad, Elery, Breden, and three others. All of them look mildly interested in Alira’s news. “Don’t sound like traders, kuria,” Zvad offers. “Not unless they’ve got something very small and valuable on that mule. Must have some other reason for trying to reach Wiendrj without being seen… which means they’re probably not Hegemonics, either.”"

Got this in my playthrough where I failed to stop the Harrowing…shouldn’t Elery be dead? Is this because Ch 2 is disabled, so the game doesn’t know that I failed?

Also it started calling me kuria, even though I’m a helot, so I’m assuming this is just because I skipped to Ch 3, but I was curious anyways.

There’s also this:

Breden, Elery, and also hurry to your side, clearly not intending to be left behind.

Shouldn’t there be another name there, or otherwise just “Breden and Elery also hurry to your side”?

A quote just came to mind and I can’t help but think it fits your character perfectly Mara, “A woman with great ambition and no morals.”

Or perhaps, “If she were to set the kingdom ablaze, Mara would be fine if she could rule the ashes.”

Eh, “great ambition and no morals” describes most of those who ascend to power by force. The latter’s probably better for her particular breed.

No wrong. Pacific Rebellion Anarchy 1 I will gaining power PEACEFULLY OR DYING TRYING. However, afterwards that I want to experiment how a Gandhi like revolution could transform in a hard-core nobility empire with totalitarian vibes

Magic without limits? Did I miss an infinite source of blood that we have available in this game?

Other limits: No mind-reading or mind control. No scrying or divination. No long-distance communication. No conjuring or summoning things out of nothing.

Direct killing and destruction using Theurgy takes more blood/effort, as you’re essentially undoing the telos of a thing to stay intact/alive. Permanently changing a thing’s telos (as opposed to just temporarily distorting it) also takes a lot of study and a cartload of blood.

I appreciate that it may seem like magic without limits, but upthread there have been a few points already where I’ve had to tell people that there’s just no way for Theurgy to do that, and several others where it’s possible but at inordinate cost.

Theurgy is VERY good at tossing mountains around, though.

Well, you gotta be good at something.

Indeed. In this era, “drop a mountain on it” is roughly the equivalent of the modern “shoot it into the sun.”

Then how in hell Evil Gandhi could convince people of her pro helots and peacefully intentions?

Mechanically does it rely on line of sight? It seems to, but I get the feeling you don’t actually “see” in telos vision with your eyes per say. Could you see through a wall for instance to perceive the telos of the things on the other side?
