Children of the Gods (Important poll #12306)

Apollo generally has horrible luck with love in most of his myths. A lot of the people he attempts to woo either commit suicide or turn into plants. I’m a little surprised that he keeps on trying here!

WAIT WHAT

Santi… I have a lot of questions about your mother.

IS YOUR MOM A P L A N T

lol no, they’re talking about the nymph Daphne that Apollo chased after. She turned into a laurel tree rather than succumb to his advances, and afterward Apollo wore wreathes of laurel because…he just…did not get the message, lol.

And considering that Santi exists I very much doubt his mom’s a plant, lol.

Watch this video and you’ll see what I mean. It wasn’t just Daphne.

Sounds like someone doesn’t know how to take a damn hint. Probably took it from his rapist of a father but oh well.

:purple_heart::purple_heart::purple_heart:

A telephone in essence represents communication, or the lack thereof. Kasia is a very relational character, so she has this innate desire to connect.

To me this object particularly symbolized Kasi’s relationship with the gods. It’s gilded and pristine, much like how the Council project themselves. She seeks to connect even with them, but they…don’t know how to, or don’t want to.

The telephone in the photo is too perfect. It looks more like a decoration than an actual working mechanism. Kasia is starting to feel like the idea of a meaningful relationship between her and those on Olympus is just that - a showpiece, another layer in the grand scheme of things.

She doesn’t want to believe that, though.

Oh, and the telephone being old-fashioned. It also finds a way to represent the gods. It’s traditional, which is basically the way they operate. Things have always been the way they are for them.
That’s how they’ve always thought.
That’s how they’ve always acted.
That’s how they’ve always treated their children.
That’s how they will continue to be unless something happens.

Thank you so much :heart_decoration:.

Stunning editorial - beautiful work!

I’m thinking that something in Russia would be an interesting flashback.

Definitely. I actually loved all of the options in the flashback poll. Any of those would have been perfect, but a flashback with roots in understated story/historical origins (e.g. Asian, Middle-Eastern) would be glorious.

There’s always Flashback #3. If we’re going in chronological order (and the next one is the Salem Witch Trials), the last one should probably be around the 19th century up to somewhere around the World Wars. That’s probably not too hard to work with, especially given the audience. Maybe the MC and Aeson served in one of the wars (soldier/militia member of some kind, or even a spy).

My dream is now to see Aeson as Anne Frank. Because that would be hilarious to me.

I’d go with the Russian Revolution.

I’ve thought that also. We have a game centered around the Spanish Civil War (and a WIP about the rise of fascism in Central Europe by the same author) and a steampunk alternate history of the Post-Napoleonic world. Given the fact that there were quite a few factions in the beginning (Czar Loyalists, Socialists, Communists, and Anarchists are the ones I can think of right now), there’s a chance for things to be a bit interesting.

Russian Revolution is sounding better and better!

Just finished playing the WIP game (I got to capture the monster). Really enjoyed it! As it is WIP game I was expecting it to stop at some point, and then it just kept going XD. Anyways, it is a lot of fun, and the flashback idea is a really awesome one! Anyways, that is my two cents (although is Zeus or Poseidon is your father still has my confused :stuck_out_tongue:).

It’s still in the editing phase, but Zeus is the MC’s father now. It used to be either him, Poseidon, or Hades depending on your choices, but now it’s only Zeus.

I thought this would be fun for us to do! It’s a bit of a doozy (43 questions about the OCs, 10 questions directed to the creator), but it’s totally up to y’all if you want to do everything or pick and choose :+1:t4:

Ooooh, I’m definitely planning on doing this!

…just as soon as I find the time, lol

Huh…I guess it’ll help me make my OC more realistic, so why not.

Questions for OCs
  1. What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?

Five minutes, anymore than that he’ll get jumpy and anxious.

  1. How easy is it for your character to laugh?

Depends on how’s his relationship with the one trying to make him laugh, but generally it’s quite hard.

  1. How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)

By emptying his mind of all worries.

  1. How easy is it to earn their trust?

Truthfully, he’ll never completely trust anyone anymore, but he’ll give you some semblance of trust after he understands how you act and think, usually through subtle observations.

  1. How easy is it to earn their mistrust?

All it takes now is one small mistake…if someone ever acts out of character even in the slightest, he’ll assume that they’re now a shapeshifter trying to kill him and that the person it is impersonating is now dead or in a grave danger.

  1. Do they consider laws flexible, or immovable?

In his mind, laws are only as strong as it’s enforcers, that means if you’re stronger than them, you’re practically above the law.

  1. What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?

Seeing people’s interaction at the park. Be them parent and child or couples, it triggers a feeling of nostalgia for him. But he does not enjoy it, for it only reminded him of the things he lost.

He doesn’t swear, but he does oftenly speak in a patronizing way.

That there’s nothing wrong with him and he is a perfectly functional member of society. His subconscious laughs at his face every night for that.

  1. How do they cope with confusion (seek clarification, pretend they understand, etc)?

He’ll gather data to fill in the things he is confused about, but he rather not ask anyone for clarification.

Use a backscratcher, if that fails, rub the offending spot to a sufficiently pointy or rough surface.

White. No, it doesn’t fit him at all.

  1. What animal do they fear most?

Dogs, thanks to being chased by a particularly vicious one when he was in kindergarten.

  1. How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first?

Patronizingly. He rehearse it most of the time, but when put in the spot he’ll speak what first came up in his mind, even if those are just unintelligible mumbles.

  1. What makes their stomach turn?

The fact that he enjoy other’s pain and suffering, be it came from his hand or not, but especially if it is.

  1. Are they easily embarrassed?

  1. What is their favorite number?

Zero, one, four, seven and thirteen.

  1. If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?

Depends on the severity of the things he’d done and how justified he feel it is.

  1. How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive?

He’s impassive to it if he deems it uninteresting, mainly just nod his head and says “I see.” or “And then?” without paying it much attention, but will probably join their excitement if it is also the things he is interested about.

  1. Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap?

He’s the type that leaves his love to fate, so he’ll just wait for it.

  1. Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things to melodies, etc)?

His last date with Aelin, it reminds him that this world is filled with both beauty and vice.

Very, it’s one of the many things that haunts him whenever and wherever.

  1. How do they feel about children?

  1. How badly do they want to reach their end goal?

Very, even though he knows that it is immoral, he’ll sacrifice everything if it means reaching his end goal.
