I played through the game (again). I have a question about your approach to the protogonoi. Are you going to include all of them? You mentioned them all when Zeus has his “before there was life…” speech. All of them but Erebus. Is there a reason for that? In mythology, he is mentioned either as Nyx’s consort, or her brother (depending on what your source is). They both have very similar purposes. Nyx is the goddess of night, and Erebus is the god of darkness. Also, here’s a bit of irony: they create Hemera (Day), and Aether (Brightness).
Another question: I know you said that Nyx would be making an appearance at some point, but will the other primordial gods be making appearances as well? It’d be interesting to see who they side with (I have a feeling that Eros would be the only one supporting the Olympian gods). It’d also be interesting if any of them visited the MC while they are running from the Seekers (who are probably being possessed by Cronus, but honestly all the gods are snakes so who knows). Like if they visited the MC to try and turn them against the gods before they were brought to Olympus?
I would want to interrogate Hermes on why his Seekers have been trying to kill me. There is no way in hell that he didn’t notice something was wrong. In fact, there is no way in hell that any of the gods didn’t notice that something was wrong. My main MC, Nyx, would probably yell at Hermes for putting her through all of this. I can picture her laughing and saying something like: “You expect me to help you? After your Seekers have been terrorizing me and trying to kill me? What have you been doing up here? Sitting in your throne with your dick in your hand?! And now you want me to help you? Please help us Nyx, we need to defeat Cronus! You’re pathetic.” I think that she’d use quite a bit of profanity. Not in a way that seems overdone, or exaggerated, but in a way that makes her point clear to the gods.
And when Hera and Ares threaten us, I’d have her laugh again and be like, “You’re gonna kill me? Is this a joke? Please, tell me this a joke, and that you are not this stupid. Good luck winning in a battle against Cronus without my help!” Oh, the look on their faces would be priceless. And after that? My MC would walk out. Because honestly, what is keeping her there? Nothing. She’s already lost everything - either because they took it away, or because they did nothing to help her. She has nothing to lose. She has no reason to help them. They don’t care about her. And she knows it. She won’t help them until they beg her to. All she wants is immortality, and to see them humiliate themselves in front of her.
I would honestly love if other characters asked us questions. Our answers could build or damage our relationship with them, and our reputation with the citizens.
Nyx is only interested in pursuing Santiago as an RO. He’s the only one that seems interesting to her. Everyone else is being controlled by the gods. I think that if she asked too many questions when they first meet, their relationship would be damaged. Because I don’t think he would be interested in someone who, like everyone else, wants to know his secrets and wants his approval. I think she would flirt with him, and tease him, and let him pursue her. He seems the type to become bored by things that are easy. The only things I think she would ask about are generic questions like “Why do you hang out with these people if they’re so boring?”.
Ah, and now we get to the classic daddy issues. Nyx would just want to know how her mother died, and why Hades lets everyone push him around. The last question she would ask because she truly doesn’t understand, and also because asking this question would make him a bit more antagonistic towards the other gods and mess with his head a bit. I wouldn’t ask for his opinion on Athena’s kidnapping because he’s biased on that issue, considering how he met Persephone, and the weird romantic tension he has with Athena.
I hope it’s Sage. That would cause quite a bit of drama for the MC. People would spread rumors that they did it, and depending on who witnessed it, you can’t defend yourself against that.
And honestly? I might be interested in a random occurrence thing. Death isn’t something we control (regardless of the MC’s father). How would our choices make a difference? If someone dies during the trial, it’s their own fault (unless our MC is the one killing them, or deliberately trying to arrange it so someone dies).
I just want my MC to bond with Nephilim and Santiago. Also - would training at school (it’s a required class) raise our Strength stat? Depending on our performance during the class? And training outside of school would raise it even more as the story progresses? How would we train our Essence? With Aeson? Would Nephilim have some tips for us, if we gain his approval? Could we use that approval to get our hands on some artifacts? Also - at school, could we have social options? Where our choices raise or lower our reputation and the way characters interact with us? For example: Nyx has a high Charm stat. It’d be interesting to see her use this skill in situations with other students. Maybe she could even use it to get them to do questionable things for her? Maybe other kids would do our homework if we scare/persuade them enough.
If you couldn’t tell already, Nyx has severe trust issues, is manipulative, and pragmatic. I love playing through as a MC that has an anti-hero vibe about them.
PS: Back to the Erebus thing - is there a possibility of that being a name for male MCs?
