(Not readin the previous one…just joining in)
My MC is kind of soft-hearted but using more of his wits in battle and just being patient. Who also has allure.
To me, Allure and Wits are best on Cunning Competitor and Honorable Hero so I chose the latter…
To be honest, I want the former but…using your friends to…well…‘cheat’ in a way.
Will that reduce your relationships throughout the other NPCs?
me: adjusts my tinfoil hat
me: given the irrefutable evidence, Saint is obviously tied to the dove in some way. I propose we kill him to save time, and show the prophecy AND Priscilla who’s really boss around here, namely, me.
In any case, likely we’re looking at 2 people who will be (directly) liable for the death of the dove
Anyway, yes, I agree with you. One is likely going to be the traitor, and I’m of the opinion that they’ll act intentionally. However, I don’t think whomever chooses love above everything else will; it strikes me as impulsive. Prsnlly, I’m leaning towards this part of the prophecy having to do something with Athena and Hades’s scheming as love was mentioned in that conversation too. Love for whom or what? If we choose to look towards Athena or Priscilla or even Hades, the Bearer seems a safe bet.
Rohie mentioned that each NPC would have a definite opinion abt the strategy you chose, namely tht they’d agree or disagree with you. It’s supposed to impact the plot in a big way so I think that it’s likely tht it will, but I’m not sure whether it’ll impact your relationship stats directly. @Rohie is this too spoiler-y to ask abt?
Honestly, hoping that Saint doesn’t die — I will exhaust all measures for his safety tbh (at least, given what I’ve seen so far). I rather like him as MC’s brother and damnit my MC’s are going to have the family she’s been deprived off >:C //cue feelings of friendship and family and all other tropes pertaining to love in the positive sense
Very TL;DR ahead. Speculation on traitor god ahead
However if we’re going to look at the traitor god and (likely) Athena as the culprits, I’m not sure if it’s Hades. When you play the prologue, it says: “The god has only ever met the Great Prophet under extreme circumstances.”
So taking this into consideration, I’m not sure if the traitor would be Hades – it’s someone who pretty much avoids Priscilla, and since he had an affair with her…that exes him out. My personal take for him if ever is that he ends up a pawn for Athena. But isn’t as directly liable as I think Athena would be.
As for the traitor, I’m trying to think of a motive. Like as much as Hades has one – at least insofar as regular mythos is concerned – I don’t think he’s the traitor, precisely because of that throw away line. Following again prologue (parts bolded for emphasis)
[details=Summary]
The god struggles with the fitful baby, whose screams echo against the walls. He attempts to rock them, but he has never been great with children; they are the purest, most honest beings in the world, and they instantly recognize the darkness within the god.
…
When the prophet closes her eyes, she feels the lure of Cronus, the nefarius Titan. She feels him reaching out to the weak minded, the greedy, the overly prideful. She sees the silly god accept Cronus’s hand in glee, mistaking the titan’s offer for the power he has always so desperately wanted. The greed in his heart and the madness in his mind make him all too willing to turn against his fellow Olympians.
"[/details]
So given these details:
-
If you check the stats page and go to History (see demigod source tab), it lists godly parents/people in Olympus. And we know that the traitor god is a man, so this leaves us: Zeus, Poseidon, Ares, Hermes, Hades, Hephaestus, Apollo, and Dionysus.
-
The god is not good with kids. So either he’s an absentee father, or generally not a good one. If ever at all he is one for that matter.
-
Lastly, the god in question has to be frustrated with their position in the pantheon.
Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades are not the traitors. As mentioned before, the traitor god meets Priscilla sparingly.
While one can make a case for Zeus, he has two kids with her (and assuming if he’s telling the truth) also loved her. And even, it seems unlikely because of the follow up pre-requisite of him being frustrated with his powers since he’s the big boss of Olympus anyway – and it seems like he has no real reason to want more power other than to beat Cronus. Zeus is very integral to the Bearer plot of winning the war – hence defeating Cronus. So yeah, basically not him :))
So this leaves: Ares, Hermes, Hephaestus, Apollo, and Dionysus.
We know that from Cal that Ares is good with kids. He makes it a point to visit the families of the kids he’s fathered – and even from the mythos, he is a good dad, even if that’s his only redeeming quality – and she + him have a very warm relationship.
Can’t say for sure for the rest of the gods as parents so this leaves: Hermes, Hephaestus, Apollo, and Dionysus.
While Dionysus is a wild card guess, I’m thinking it’s going to be someone we have met and with motive – as mentioned by the prologue. So that leaves: Hermes, Apollo, Hephaestus.
Hephaestus has the best one. He really gets the short end of the stick in the myths, but we can’t say if he feels the same in-game. At the very least, he’s likely not happy with Aphrodite with how he says “wife” in-game
Hermes knows everything though, and can’t say for sure if he’s disgruntled and wants to change that, but he could be. So as the messenger he’d be perfect for this. I’ll wait for more info before fully committing to Hermes
Same with Apollo. Not enough data to speculate further imo (or at least with what I can remember) if he could be the traitor. It seems unlikely (but we’ll never know as of now) that he would be one considering he’s one of the Golden Boys of Olympus. Maybe he’s unhappy but there’s not enough reason right now to suppose that
Ranked who I think could be it: Hephaestus > Hermes > Apollo
Me too, though if he is the Dove or irrevocably tied to it in some sense, he’ll be a plot death :~(. This is why I’m kind of glad we can only speculate @ this point, and don’t have anything concrete to build on because I don’t want for his death to be unavoidable LMAO.
Ah, I didn’t mean to implicate Hades was the traitor :~)! The Trinity can’t be traitorous, they stand to lose too much and like you said, they can all have been in a ‘relationship’ (did they just have sex? I don’t think so, since each of them mentions they loved her) with Priscilla which would be contradictory.
I hadn’t considered Hephaestus, but I had considered Apollo. I suppose what makes the case against Hermes more compelling for me is that he’s quite literally referred to as a ‘Between’ in text by Saint when he’s being discussed and as someone who is ‘ever the peacemaker’ which would tie into the image the traitor has cultivated of himself as someone who is kind + pragmatic (which you can infer if you’ve cycled through all the options you’re presented with during the dialogue with Priscilla).
…After hours, days of ignoring my pile of work that needs to be done, I was utterly devastated when the option play again flashed before my eyes. I knew it was coming, after all, more than eight chapters was too much to hope for, it was already too good to be true. BUT WHY SO SOON??? Hahaha, I’m just kidding, but I’m just commenting again to say that my playthrough was awesome! I also went through and found some spelling errors, so where would you like me to put them? I apologize if this has already been mentioned, I’m kinda new to all of this forum stuff haha.
I honestly loved this story so much i would pay for this…it’s as good as versus. I hope you finish it and keep up the good work it was incredible and kept me on edge trying to figure what was gonna happen next. Loved it
Gah, you’re all such wannabe heroes or team-players.
This much sugary sweetness is bad for my health.
@idonotlikeusernames It’s you and me pal. The Cunning betrayal team… We are emo grumpy and would torn gods apart . We are screwed but we would make them paying…THEY WILL FALLL WITH US
“Life is easier with friends, Bigby. And we live a long ing time.”
-Apathetic MC’s AHOY
Meh, it’s easier to be on someone’s genuine good side when dealing with people who could actually kill you if they figure out you’re lying.
People that will kill you anyway when they will use you. People that committed incest and cannibalism . Because gods don’t work like people and demigods are famous to be psychos and mass murderers. But it is ok each one has they little game universe to play with. Sure viagra dad with let you loose and not going to killing you to maintain the total control
I disliked being forced into a moral ‘pigeonhole’ this early on so I couldn’t play cunning competitor, and didn’t want to play without forming alliances because we have very little working knowledge of anything the gods might level our way and I didn’t want to die LMAO. + Rohie mentioned a ‘God’s Trust’ bar that’d need to be sufficiently high enough to do ‘certain things’ and Honourable Hero seems like the best way to go abt gaining their trust, TBH.
Some of y’alls MCS worry me, they’re so unwilling to have even a minuscule amount of faith (which is understandable). You know what y’all could use? A nice, relaxing midnight session in Adonis’s dorm . I’m grossed out tht I said tht.
This is something unrelated I’ve been thinking abt, but given that this story has a modern day setting, will Kronos/Gods use modern methods of warfare in the Titanomachy? Wouldn’t Kronos have a much easier time inciting fear, tht way too? I’m certain he could procure them.
Well I was mostly referencing mortal characters that could feel betrayed at the thought of us lying, then possibly given the choice to leave us high and dry when we need them most…
Gods trust is changing rapidly And MODERN CONCEPT OF HERO IS NOT GREEK ONE… They don’t like moral people as all damn myths and legends and books say all greek and roman heroes are rapists psycho mass murderers cheaters letting their sons die by famine. They could never trust you because fate has said YOU WILL END IN CHRONOS SIDE it is fixed because no one could beat fate. Maybe heroes will be friends with x gods and ruthless friends of total other gods. Rohie has said all routes HAVE SAME OPTIONS TO WIN so we can’t say x way is better. Mara would suck as a loyal dog way She is perfect to be ruthless.
edit
@yagamikuuno We WILL END IN CHRONOS SIDE so we aren’t killable until that happens so no damn mortal with kill me before. Also we have kill switch Aeson so we are screwed anyway. There is a traitor and we are done being friendly won’t help Mara. That only would help goodies.
Forgot to answer this one:
It’s kind of hard for me to explain; when I look at the Greek Gods, i tend to think they reflect the rise of culture and of concepts that humans began to put more focus on with the birth of culture. When I look at most of the Primordial Gods, I think of them being linked to something more ageless, more primal; something that has always been a part of life before the ever-changing aspects of culture or the human ideas of virtues, vices, and even philosophy. That seems to be something the Essence itself is more akin to; a timeless part of life much like the other Primordial Gods that is not meant to be controlled in any way by human hands. Except now that it has been separated and placed in a more human state, they’ve gain a number of things from the experiences of the rebirth cycles (what those things are, only time will really tell). So the current state of the Essence is more of a inbetween as both Bearer and Bestower, being something embodies timeless things like the Primordial Gods yet something a little more human than them due to being exposed to culture and the potential bonding with human/nonhumans in a way similar to how the Greek Gods themselves have been somewhat effected by such experiences.
Also, people have been known to fear what the unknown brings and things they can’t control. And in a way, the Gods are still very human; it’s probably one of the reasons they can still bond with humans to an extent even if a number of things have changed over the centuries. So it almost seems like part of the reason they are wary of the Bearer and even possibly the Bestower is the fact that, for all their human experiences, something about the Essence (even in its most human state) still remains primal and far from something the Greek Gods can actually control. Even if some of the Greek Gods may feel the illusion that it is possible right now, that resolve may waver when they are confronted with the sheer force of an Awakened Bearer/Bestower’s power from their connection to the Essence.
Yeah, playing video games is a pretty relaxing idea. Question is: what games does Adonis have?
Come to the light side; we have puppies.
Exactly almost all the Greek and Roman “heroes” are vile scum by our modern “Disney” standards and the very few that aren’t suffer greatly for it. The moral is that in most of the old myths and legends nice guys don’t just finish last they will never finish at all.
Which is really what AP Greek mythology is teaching my mc and why it is the only class that’s worth a damn, of course Mara doesn’t even need that because Athena has raised her mc differently than she did mine.
While Santiago may seem cute I think the cutie would have no trouble at all betraying my mc if it is even slightly in his favour to do so and the Scooby Gang are just the worst.
Well considering the fact that our magical “powers” have always functioned unreliably and worse, after that coma and the only time we can try to use them in the trials thus far they actually don’t do what we want at all anymore and backfire. So yes, my mc has about zero “faith” in (his control over) the essence. Which means using his wits and what charisma he has to find ways to “cheat” is the only thing he has any faith in at the moment.
Santiago would trade us over free food.
Santiago would sell us for twenty Facebook or Instagram likes.
You had me at puppies //looks at my own brood of dogs (I have 8 at home)
Donny is an RPG person. I feel it.
Also likely to have puzzle games, or something with puzzle elements. I can totes see him as Legend of Zelda fan/Nintendo nerd.
I’m not sure I understand. You’re a beta tester, right? Do you mean the trust bar itself isn’t something that exists anymore? With regards to the Gods, you forget that they don’t have much of a choice. If they completely refuse to trust you, they’re going to be the ones tht suffer as a result. How else are you going to come to a greater understanding of your powers, if the Gods refuse to let you utilize them? You can’t help the Gods if they continue to keep you in the dark because you simply won’t know what to do, or what you’re up against. Like, @ all.
Certainly, you don’t need the Gods to make decisions once you have your powers, but you can’t deny that they have an undeniable amount of influence on your life RN, and probably after the transfer, too. You live on Olympus now.
Can you elaborate? I’m not sure what you’re saying :~).
Ah, I understand. This is an interesting approach. I like the parallels.
Are they allowed consoles on Olympus? I can’t see why they wouldn’t be. LMAO, Adonis strikes me as the type to let a Bearer he likes win @ Mario Kart, Calypso will demolish you spectacularly, Saint has no clue what he’s doing but ends up beating you @ the last second, and Aeson doesn’t understand what the big deal is but wins regardless.
You’ve put me back on the ‘Bearer that has no idea they’re being flirted with track’ and I keep thinking abt the ROS telling the Bearer they like them and the Bearer being like ‘I like you too! We’re friends.’
This is so…corny.
