I seem to remember that she is part Giant or something? So she is half-giant half-demigod. So she is probably one of the strongest (pure physical strengh) in your class. Add to that regular and strict training that you do not possess, and suddenly your victory isn’t so cheap anymore. She probably wasn’t chosen for the Trials because her pedigree wasn’t good enough or something.
Plus, does your teacher seem like she would cuddle you? She seem like the type of person who would actually put you against someone she thought would step on you.
But you MC might think otherwise, of course!
It is a combat class; I imagined you were not allowed to use magic.
She can’t really ‘learn her lesson’, though. Because thanks to the update she doesn’t fight us anymore and does in fact seems to first arrive once possessed seeker thing is happing.
So @ParrotWatcher is right that if that is the reason for the loss it is a continuity error caused by the update.
Really? The Virginia fight (which I agree with @Nyxerie, was very well written) left my highly combat-oriented MC feeling as though he’d only won by the skin of his teeth.
Well, @Rohie did warn us that this version is unfinished when it comes to revisions. So I actually expect some changes for the scences in between the updated stuff for the next update.
When I fought Virginia, I start with jumping out of the way then follow up with playing defensive. Even the teacher was impressed even though she said it was a bit slower than she would have liked.
I did the same thing plus @ParrotWatcher you don’t even have to be a warrior. The non-combat trained magician can win and get praised for how good we did it.
I guess I just read it as a far closer fight than you did. I would have liked my high strength to have counted for something, but on the typos-to-dead-boyfriends scale, it ranks quite low.
For all you know Aeson can only pull bunnies out of his hat and all of Olympus loses their shit over it. I think the only instance I’ve written of him displaying any kind of “magic” is him making rose petals fall from a tree and onto some Aphrodite girls.
This is an underdog tale, through and through. I don’t think the game would correlate with the story I have in my mind if it was anything less. I find it boring when you start off the best of the best and stay on top. For me, I love either starting out great and falling, then slowly making your way back to the top, or starting off at the bottom and climbing up to the top.
That isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, I get that, but it’s what I want to create, and I believe the ending(s) will be more satisfying that way.
Underdogs triumphing is great. Dead boyfriends not so much… (Unsavable mind-slave boyfriends who we have to kill for their own good are even worse. )
However, if we’re supposed to not be that good to begin with, it might make sense to not have us easily fend off a dozen or so Seekers early on, before dropping us to an apparently weaker position.
Then you ace the feeling what is great. I though you wanted show as powerful and that is not my overal feeling. However you should show clearer that Aeson isn’t stronger magic wise because test wise he sound like Palpatine and Yoda in Brad Pitt body with Frank Sinatra voice.that make me feel my character so jealousy that she would DESTROY HIS REPUTATION SO DAMN BADLY. It would be a choice of trials destroy him reputation with people?
And I meant underdog in the sense that things aren’t going your way, and it seems as if you have very little control in what goes on. But, as the story progresses and you get stronger (and closer to finding the answers you need), you regain control and garner the respect you rightfully deserve.
Or, just blow everything up and start over? That’s a good choice.
I read your text wrong; I just imagined a humanoid Yoda/Brad Pitt/Frank Sinatra…it wasn’t pretty.
And honestly, I started outlining the Aeson rivalry path before the romance/friend paths. I think it’s the most understandable in the story context, and the one I expected everyone to “bandwagon” on even more than the romance one. It’s pretty emotional, now that I think about it.
Also, reputation wise, no, you can’t erase what good he’s done for Olympus (but he might do that on his own), but you can replace/surpass him.
Let’s not be crazy here… Leave my wonderful Aeson alone.
He is a man with a plan. The plan being surviving us! I feel torn between patting his head (and his back and the rest), discreetly eye him with both suspicion and amused interest. And also kick him in the knee.
No, I believe it is stated that there “are no rules” to that fight and I can understand choosing not to use magic due to us wanting to cultivate an image where our real opponents underestimate us, however that is not how it is presented right now. Therefore I just assume that we’re too weak/stressed/disoriented, whatever from that coma to use our “magic” as right now we cannot use it even should we want to.
Point is currently not using magic there is not a choice if we had any real choices there we should also be able to go even further and lose on purpose, but not in such a way that it’s obvious we’re throwing the fight.
Which seems to require more precision control than we have, plus the casual way he just seems to do it, while we have to be completely and utterly focused for even the tiniest thing. As for the mc any use of his “powers” is definitely not something he can casually do.
Does that include “fixing” our mc’s current, limited verticality compared to the guy? Yes, I know this is one of my idiosyncratic hangups but I hate people I don’t like or have mixed feelings towards literally looking down on me (or my fictional mc’s who are usually taller than I am to begin with).
It is currently irksome to me that no matter what height we select both Saint and Aeson are always taller than the mc, which is likely due to their better diets and lifestyles, but still…
My problemis game forced me to mourn him and my girl doesn’t. Give a crap about him she would totally use him as a meat shield beforehand. In fact i choose let the lame guy there. @Rohie I want romance Aeson and destroy. Him same time in a Rivalmance bioware style
