Hm…you know I’m not sure if he really is perfect or just so damn good at faking it. That guy has to wear a mask to stay alive, but how much of him is “real”? How heroic is he really?
I get the feeling that his most important aim is to stay alive. I’m also not sure how hypocritical he really is. He likes MC when they are honest and open to him, but he does tell nearly nothing of him self, and while we know that he will be angry/disappointed at MC if they just let people die during the trials we don’t know why exactly that will bug him: Is it really because of morals or because it worsens MC (and by that his) position in the public, what can negatively influencr influence their chances to survive?
That guy seems like a big planner too, and people that like to make plans can be rather annoyed at others not following them…maybe Aeson has some control freak issues? He certainly has trust issues.
I honestly don’t hate any character’s so far well except maybe a few of the gods… Ares , Hera…
Is it bad that I hope Granddad isn’t a bad guy but the real one is a giant or great grandpa or something? Kronos is a little overused as a straight out bad guy… I prefer a no clear bad side between the two main sides…
They’re all kinda like that. Like in the cafeteria scene, they like when the MC tells all, but don’t share anything with her…Well actually, cut that, Calypso and Adonis want to. It’s Saint who has a fit. I kinda see @Baam’s point about him now.
I didn’t know that about stats and don’t really see how it matters in the story as far as liking him (can totally see how it’d matter if there’s a fight scene with him, though. Does it have to do with him having the power he’s supposed to give MC? Will his stats change when it’s gone?) What color’s his eyes? I don’t read Aeson as a character we’re meant to love. With those characters, there’s usually at least one other main character who’s in love with them, people will threaten the MC (like, “[blank]'s too good for you” or “you better not hurt [blank”) and hopefully that never happens. Also, he’s yet to really outdo MC, as far as I can tell? Besides in popularity. His role in the Essence seems less cool than the Bearer’s, to me, since our MC’s the one who’s got the power in the end. Besides, I figure since there’s a stat that records public opinion, there’s an option to make the city love our MC as much as they do him. If that’s impossible, though, then lol, I might rethink my opinion on his perfect-ness. For now, I think he’s Olympus’s golden boy, but not meant to be perfect.
Don’t forget his equally almost impossible height and whatever we do or choose he is always taller than our mc so he always literally looks down on us. Now I know my RL issues with my limited verticality occasionally bleed through to my escapist fiction, but with Aeson it would really bother my mc to be literally looked down on for some reason.
Yeah, his perfect stats too and for my mc the fact that he actually has control over his “magic” while we basically have to make it up as we go along in a life or death situation (and my mc really doesn’t trust in his essence powers since he has so little control over them).
Also if it’s back to “daddy Hades” the fact that he’s the clear favourite and we’re the clear unfavourite doesn’t help matters any.
He can play family with Aeson but he couldn’t even admit to us that he was our frigging father even after the muggle jig was up?
True, many of my mc’s like character’s like him some even are characters like him. Unfortunately this mc of mine has no patience to put up with a guy like that, however cute he may be, right now.
It is enough that the great stats and perfect control of his magic are real to me, as well as his impossible height and overall appearance.
Probably why he doesn’t seem to like mine very much, though they are similar on that last point.
Well then he’ll like my mc even less since my mc only ever follows his own plan since being forced on the run.
Highly likely.
Yes, but it’s interesting that he brings up Aeson in his argument in a “We can’t decide about this without Aeson” kind of way. Either Saint really has much respect/loyality to Aeson or his only reason to exclude MC is because he doesn’t like them and he doesn’t want to tell this MC directly/is embarrassed that he has no better reasoning, however even with a high relationship with him this scene doesn’t change much as far as I remember…
I as a person like Aeson’s character, but Nyx can never forgive him for the fact that she has to be the one who participates in the gods stupid, stupid trials, when he is the one trained to do it.
She also feels uncomfortable about the fact that her life is dependant on him not getting himself killed, when her first impression was Aeson being quite serious wounded. She does not like that her life is dependent on that (Or any dependant on any person, really)
So Aeson is defenitly out as a RO for her. (Currently she seems to be wavering between Avery and Adonis.)
But aren’t you both participating in the trials? Your first point seems better targeted at the gods…
And the second at Kronos.
As I understand it we are considered ‘one person’ and as such the MC fight for both of them. (At least it was so in the old version, if it changes in the new it slipped past my notice.)
And, yeah, my MC’s hathred is targetted at the Gods and the hunters. The hunters for obvious reasons and the gods for interfering in the life she had managed to build, despite everything.
That’s an awesome point. I didn’t know he wasn’t in the trials. Not his fault because he didn’t make the decision (I think?) but I’d resent pretty much everyone if I was in that position. So I get Nyx’s attitude.
That’s one of my favorite parts about him lol. I dunno how tall you are, but I’m 5’10 and most guys who’re taller than me seem only interested in super short girls. I can see how that’d be different for a guy, though, and the hot stuff too. It could be worse, on the bright side. There’s a game where my eyes literally glaze over from the paragraphs dedicated to one character’s attractiveness.
Maybe. Either way, he’s a party pooper. I think it’d be cool to have an option to ransom info to the group. You know, “If I’m gonna spill, then so should you.” Fair’s fair.
I think Calypso mentioned he was participating, I’ll go check for it… and if we are both in I’d be happy he wins we get immortality anyway. Plus I get to do a good deed to make up for all the lives I will inevitably take during the stories course. That and he’s family.
1.73 cm, (about 5ft 7), but around here that is around 10cm below the national average and as a gay guy that blows.
For that reasons my escapist fiction mc are usually (much) taller than I am.
Oh, yes for my mc too, this so very much. Of course we’re “one person” for the purpose of sending us utterly untrained into those deathtraps but not when it comes to any of the good stuff.
My mc is so going to try to divert that release of that stupid essence power into the backup vessel (aka Saint) when it happens so he can fight on the frontlines of the Gods stupid war and age to be a desiccated husk within the year.
Saint and Aeson are trained for it whereas my mc wants to have noting to do with the Gods or Olympus.
Lets not pretend its anything more than a temporary alliance, but even so my mc wants to be treated as an equal “ally” and get the same kind of info from them in return that they expect him to share with them, oh and not being summoned and treated like a servant would be nice too.
No he isn’t, probably because he would win it easily, we’re the one participating completely untrained, he just gets to share in the benefits for free in the unlikely event that we win. Of course if what they say is true he dies too if we get ourselves killed, but he’s not participating despite his formidable skills and training. What’s worse is that he doesn’t even offer us the kind of tutoring we might need. Oh and at the end he gets be youthful and immortal (assuming the gods keep their promise) while that essence probably deteriorates us to Dragon Age’s “Xenon the Antiquarian” real fast.
The one thing that is better in the new version is that there is less body horror as our “new” appearance is now more of a straight evolution of our old one. It’s just that for something that puts us in a coma for a week and keeps us in the hospital even longer to my mc the evolution is about as disappointing as my RL so-called “growth spurt” was to me, compared to all the supermodels he now lives among. With both of his “brothers” (as it seems to be true for both Saint and Aeson) always being taller than himself. (maybe this is more stuff the author wrote with a female perspective in mind but it doesn’t exactly do wonders for my mc’s self-image).
Well, Aeson does the same for MC, that’s the point of the whole can’t fight against each other/dies when the other one dies deal.
Absolutely agree. How should MC build any trust to them orherwise? Friendship and alliances normally aren’t one way streets, they should consider that when they want to have the Bearer on their side.
I want could FAKE ALL MY CHOICES like in Guenevere. @jeantown has made so amazing game that let me be look as a perfect queen Exactly as Aeson does. While hating everything. Here choices are blunt like. I AM EMO REBEL YOU ARE POO OR BEIN HEIDI THE HIPPIE GOODIE SAYING I LUVEEEE ALL YOOOOUGIVE ME A HUG ASSASSIN. And i think a middle fake ground is needed
Looks like I was mistaken about Calypso but I’m still on the thought process of one of us wins we both win.
On another note I am happy that the seekers killed our friend, I’ll have a way to guilt Sage now especially since our incident happened first. I’m still not happy about our options of reacting to her though. Is it bad I get the mirror specifically for her?
Nope he very much doesn’t fight for us, at least not in those trials.
Ask Adonis who actually competes and he says:
" “Me (Adonis), Calypso, Saint, Sage, Santiago, Psyche–”"
The one person thing is convenient for the Gods because if we do win the one person thing means Aeson gets to be the heroic leader (he’s the one trained for it after all) and we get to be the “deputy” leader (read sidekick) or something. In addition to the fact that he probably gets more out of the immortality than we do (as my mc really doesn’t want to turn into a desiccated husk who just cannot die or be frozen forever the way he currently looks).
I think my MC is quite beyond fairness at this point. Aeson is the one who was trained for this, if the gods want a hero they have their golden boy.
For Nyx there is no such thing as a friendly competetion or a friendly fight. Weapons are involved in this and that means that it is dead serious. She also dislike violence because every time she has had to use physical violence it meant that she has been pushed into a corner with no other way out.
The training match in the school was a flat out murder attempt in her eyes. (That is not true, of course, but Nyx can only see fighting as having one outcome, because that is the outcome she has learnt when escaping from hunters. It is life or death. It always has been and it always will be.)
But you cut them off asking about the last two… I mean there’s definitely more than 7 people right? Especially when you’re in a team of four.
Plus I think your just overtly worried about the immortality. Especially since the most important gods and the ones with good publicity support you. Plus they do want you to have the power at least to help them, they can’t be sure ripping you off would allow you to stay healthy long enough to help before withering.
@DreamingGames You maxed out your stress bar didn’t you? Have some chocolate cake at the party, it’ll help. Cutting someone’s neck isn’t a murder attempt in Olympus, just friendly sparring.
My MC is named Nyx for a reason. Nyx is reincarnated in my MC
The Bestower does compete in the trials. Why else should he take part in the ceremony.
Also we got told about it outside of the game more than once:
Otherwise saying they count as one person and everything what Aeson tells the MC about the trials makes not much sense.
Maybe they don’t compete at the same time, but that still would mean that Aeson has to fight for MC too.
Ok then it seems all we presumably need to do then in order to “win” is not die, which is just as well since my mc hasn’t got the training or abilities to do much else.
It will likely still mean Aeson gets to be the Hero and we get to be the sidekick at best, whose only use is throwing out enough of the essence powers to destroy the enemy before we, inevitably wither due to the corrupting influence of the essence. (I really think that all the demigod body means is that we may get to be as old as 23-24 before we wither into decrepit uselessness).
To be fair my mc never once assumed Aeson was being honest with him.
