Children of the Gods (Important poll #12306)

I thought the whole point of the discussion was that the Essence can be used to get better in either physical or magical form, not that it would make the MC automatically good in both (thus it makes sense that Magician and Warrior are separate classes that hopefully end up equal in the final gameplay/that the Magician class is not obsolet). So I don’t see what exactly you are trying to tell me.

I’m not trying to tell you anything different; that was essentially my point. The Force was used as a similar concept to the Essence in terms of development of skills, I explained why I thought that conception was misguided. I wasn’t attempting to postulate that being proficient in one area of the Essence automatically makes you good in the other. That was the opposite of the point I was trying to make.

Sorry then, you were just so focused on the influence of the Essence on warrior skills that it seemed like you would wanted to argue against the point that @Hugana seemingly wanted to make: That the Essence can be used to power MC’s magical and physical force. Meaning that it does make a difference for MC’s ability to use magic if they decide to train it in contrast to combat (at least that’s how I did understand it.)

I understand; I could have phrased my argument much better than I did. Anyway, no matter; all cleared up now.

I’ll be able to transfer the game to dashingdon, (I’m out of town in a household with slow internet), but it will be the version I was last able to compile before my internet went out. So, this version will include the new intro scene and some major changes, but bear with me since it’s not the final build and was last edited in the Summer. I’d rather have this version up instead of the current nonfunctional link that forces a download.

Oh, . Not sure if anyone recalls that that specific choice was supposed to be "*selectable_if (Magician = “1”) but it caused at least half of testers to encounter a game-breaking bug. I never got around to fixing it.

ok @Rohie pls explain the how the essence and magic and all that work when you have the time thank you very much

As long as you’re sure. Updating an unfinished link will mean most will be excited to have an update in some form; having a few things not make sense is but a temporary setback, I’m sure. People will deal.

Also, it will likely give rise to quite a few new discussions; as long as you’re prepared for the possibility of the thread blowing up again.

I’m sorry if this is ignorant, as I don’t actually know how the choicescript engine actually works, but since the current version of the game is actually downloadable and functional, couldn’t you just get it from dropbox and upload that to dashingdon?

Oh… well then… I guess we’ll have to reevaluate some of the arguments we’ve been throwing around these past few weeks… oops…

After reading the Star Wars posts I now want to have a MC who fancies themselves a Jedi, Grey Jedi, or Sith depending on the runthrough.

Last edited version. Includes the new intro/reverse childhood scenes/new Saint and Calypso introduction/new ceremony scenes/extended first trial scene. Heavy WiP. Strange looking at it in its unfinished stage.

Thank you for sharing the revision. It has been anticipated by many for a while now :champagne:

Does this updated demo end after you pick if the hunters are sent by the gods, possessed, etc? There’s a 404 error screen when I click on the button for Chapter One/Next.

Also, I’m really enjoying the things, from what I’ve seen, that you’ve added so far. It’s neat to read more back story.

Do we not get to choose our own name any more? And why does it go from male names to female names? (I assume that the latter is a bug…) On checking, it looks like this only occurs if you play through the prologue, but is fine if you skip it.

Is the bully called Gale or Garrett?

Yeah, if you play the prologue you cannot be male anymore. :unamused:

For some reason, I never noticed this bug… it seemed perfectly fine to me :innocent:

It looks like we’re still male, we’ve just got a female name.

And do all my boyfriends have to end up dying? (Especially since I’m somewhat lukewarm on the canon choices.)

I find it funny that you can open up the stat at birth and see Saints is “burning with hatred”

  • I’d like to start from the begining.
I’d like to start from the beginning. Same spelling in the paragraph before.

  • When the prophet closes her eyes, she feels the lure of Cronus, the nefarius Titan. She feels him reaching out to the weak minded, the greedy, the overly prideful. She sees the silly god accept Cronus’s hand in glee, mistaking the titan’s offer for the power he has always so desperately wanted. The greed in his heart and the madness in his mind make him all too willing to turn against his fellow Olympians.

I think nefarius should be nefarious.

I also just noticed the sword of peleus It’s perfect for me.
It’s description says weilder instead of wielder.

Ambiguous gender leads to male names which leads to female names you keep your gender though. At least I had Nyx to name my boy.

  • What does track and field and swimming add besides strength?
  • You’re walking between beautiful cherryblossoms, fast approaching an open garden.
    Cherry blossom

Personally I’m hoping for more opportunities to raise our non class combat stat, especially with items like the magic sword coming up, although the essence being both magical and physical is softening the blow. I’m also appreciative of the increased opportunities to increase strength

Also I think morality is not working right, I lean towards the light after joining in on bullying Lucy(for the strength), killing Mr. crazy seeker and taking his dagger. Plus largely being indifferent to everything else. I think the only good I did was not fighting fire with fire.

“Common,” Aelin teases, pointing over his shoulder at the man. “How can you not comment on that?”
I think come on is what would be said here…

I like the update so far very in depth. Although I only got as far as the restaurant because the game crappred out on me twice. Can’t wait for it to be complete.

Choosing to skip the prologue, during the first hood encounter:

“Watch it, kid!” a bearded man yells at you, shoving your shoulder. You
stumble backward, Benji barely catching you before you hit the ground.
It’s only with a backward glance that you see the girl glance up at you,
narrowing her eyes. You make eye contact, your unspecified eyes meeting
her alarmingly black ones. And then, she begins to charge toward you.
