Children of the Gods (Important poll #12306)

There’s only one extra day in any leap year… And later leap years will apply to both of you equally.

Well, I started, but then I saw how many posts you had. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@Parrotwatcher I have found it, but she only said

What honestly could mean everything. And doesn’t tell us what specific part of your rather broad theory decribtion she shot down.

Her answer about the Irish twins is here (at least I think she is talking about the Irish twins):

Yes…mostly because I know what he does and what he symbolizes but putting him into a working timeline (1998 to 2016) instead of just saying “Because, Magic!” is harder than I thought, especially when you take into account the different fathers the MC can have. But the rewrite helped because I got to change the order in which things happened, so the timelines match up properly now.

Also, spoilers.

Re-reading the story,it feel soo obvious that Zeus was originally suppose to be the Father. I mean,Poseidon was kind of dubious about the MC,but Zeus…he adored the baby! …Or so I felt.

Going with the “Saint is a Demigod” theory, I wonder if the MC set father shouldn’t also be the father of Sait by default.
I mean priscilla was chosen to be the mother of the bearer, so having an ulterior affair with another gods…would they be more “careful” or something? Even if it’s greek god we are talking about here

And if he was “adopted” or something,I would expect the MC father to take care of him.

I can’t wait for the update,so many question to be answered!!
(not trying to put pressure on the author, of course!!..I am a well behave fan)

Contemplating the new mechanics, especially regarding Magician!MC’s. There are already tiers; Novice, Proficient, and Absolute, that correlate to each part of the game (1, 2 and 3), but to keep the use of magic from seeming overtly econvebiebt (as a sure fire way to get out of every conflict/battle in-game) and redundant, I’ve been toying with the concept of mana. It’s nothing new, and has been around in RPG’s even some Choice/Hosted games.

And I’m not specifically thinking of mana as in “a reserve magic you can utilize that will eventually run out” but more so in terms of “how much direct contact with the Essence your body can take before you pass out.”

Lore wise, it makes sense. I’ve taken care to add some descriptors that make it apparent that using magic takes out a lot from the MC; headaches, feeling weak, dizzy spells, etc. I mean, realistically, no matter how great the MC’s willpower is…eventually they won’t be able to handle the intensity of the Essence. I mean, that’s why the human body deteriorates after the 18th solstice, because of its sheer power.

Just a musing. Implementing it would be a pain for some, but would no doubt add some complexity and keep the game from being redundant.

  • Yes, implement the use of mana/something akin to that.
  • No, don’t implement the use of mana/something akin to that.

So every time we use magic we “age” ourselves up and become progressively more and more physically decrepit as the game goes on?
If that’s the case then Saint is so getting saddled with that cursed Essence thing. :smiling_imp:

How much will the warrior and magician tiers affect us? Like will a magician be able to get by with a high combat or a warrior with high essence? Can we go between the two? Like a proficient magician and novice warrior?

I vote no, I feel like the magician is a magikarp and doesn’t have much of an advantage in the beginning.

@idonotlikeusernames

You still act the most “child of hades” out of us all, despite your misplaced hatred.

No. Everytine you use magic it increases your power. Novice>Proficient>Absolute.

Just because you chose to study magic doesn’t mean you can’t choose to ignore the magic options completely. So yes, theoretically a mage can get by with high combat and vice versa…though I don’t see why you wouldn’t just choose to be a warrior in that case? And no, you choose one specialty for the title purpose. It’d be a lot of coding otherwise.

That is certainly the case in the current game-build.

But you did say the cursed Essence thingy will take its toll on our physical form eventually (and rather soon at that too)?
So “magic” does have a price.

Maybe because magic is our “ace up the sleeve” and it best stays there in most cases because of the price of using magic.
In any case it seems my mage build with allure as the second stat is a no go and I’ll probably need to re-focus and make strength my mc’s secondary stat. :expressionless:

So far it’s a 30 35 split with me. I want to continue that trend. Though if we are getting the essence no matter what warrior does seem appealing. I’m a mage regardless I just don’t want to be helpless in a fight without my magic.

Maybe the “mage” stands a better chance of figuring out how to dump that cursed thing into Saint, who is likely the “backup” receptacle for it anyway?

You want to dump your soul on your half-brother? Especially since if we win, it won’t have a drawback? And it’s still your soul either way, I doubt you can get rid of it without suicide, and you can choose not to rely on it anyway.

Besides at 75 we can summon hurricanes according to the description.

Well we probably need that bit for ourselves, won’t we. But we’ve already got that part don’t we? No, I’m talking about the rest of it that’s going to turn us into a desiccated husk within the year (or maybe within 2, now that we’re “demigods”).
If Saint really was made as the “backup” plant then there are likely loopholes we can exploit to redirect the energy/essence transfer from Aeson to Saint when the time comes. :pensive:

On the other hand if we can somehow replace the tiny bit of essence inside of us with a real soul (or figure out how to live without a soul entirely) then we’d truly be free and no longer bound to either Aeson or Olympus. :smirk:

You know since I’m power hungry, I think this goes under evil cannot comprehend good.

I’d rather have the power and be immortal, then decide what to do with everyone else than not have it to be “free” while still under the gods’ power and the possibility of being killed for inconveniencing them. Besides if your mortal how will you fulfill your lust for Ares, Aeson and Adonis?

Plus soul replacement and/or removal still sounds like death to me and reincarnating anyway.

“Magicians” MCs (my case) definitely need to know how to wield a sword now.

If we’re mortal we have years to satisfy our lusts, whereas with the essence it will burn us out and turn us into a desiccated husk within the year.
Since these are the loophole abusing Greek Gods we’re talking about I’m still half expecting our promised “immortality” to be of the kind that doesn’t come with eternal youth included.

Unfortunately that would seem to be the case now. :unamused:
